McCain Ready For The "Old Soldiers Home"

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

Thanks to Crooks & Liars for this 2000 McCain interview with Jim Lehrer

Lehrer: Finally for the record, you have not lost your desire to be President of the United States have you?

McCain: Certainly it’s been put in deep cold storage. haha..

Lehrer: You haven’t lost it?

McCain: Well, in 2004, I expect to be campaigning for the reelection of President George W. Bush, and by 2008, I think I might be ready to go down to the old soldiers home and await the cavalry charge there.

Now let's be fair. Kudos to McCain for realizing that as long as he's in good health, he can hold public office. His age *does* make his choice of VP more relevant, but mocking him for his age is pointless.

Besides, it's so much easier to mock him for his inability to pick good advisors, his poor choices about Iraq, and his inability to come up with a reasonable solution to -- well, just about any serious problem facing our nation.

No reason to waste time making fun of him for being old.

Another one caught on tape!!

David, you're right, but this is more like a joke that McCain has played on himself. No sense in blaming the messenger. To be fair to McCain, there could be more to the interview than that 30 second clip.

The Republicans are getting on Obama's case for his "without preconditions" statement that cuts him off just before he explains himself.

In addition to what david said, I would raise the point that McCain did not realize he'd have such good health these last 8 years, nor that he'd have as much energy now as he has.

I'll be as strong an Obama supporter as there is, but ageism has as little place in this race, IMO, as racism.

Well, my grandfather and Sen. McCain are almost the same age. He was in perfect health until one yaer ago, but he suddenly start fading. Nothing special, just age! He sometimes enters the room and asks which day it is today. And once again in 30 min. He is good guy, but I wouldn't trust him to hold any office.
Being President is 24*7 job, so I think age matters. JM should retire and spend more time with his beautiful wife :)

I've built a site ( http://www.click4obama.com ) and a facebook application ( http://www.starturl.com/click4obama ) called Click 4 Obama. It is a simple and educational quiz game to support Obama. Every question you get right helps post "Obama for President" ads all over the web. You can challenge your friends to play and see how you rank against them and everyone else!

You Play, Obama Wins!

Dump Norm Coleman On Sept. 9, 2008 vote for Dr. Jack Shepard in the Minnesota GOP Primary for the U.S. Senate!

SO AL FRANKEN CAN WIN WITHOUT NORM COLEMAN IN THE GENERAL ELECTION!!!!

www.jackshepardforsenate.com

On Sept. 9, 2008 vote for Dr. Jack Shepard in the Minnesota GOP Primary for the U.S. Senate to use your vote to vote against the re-election of Sen. Norm Coleman by voting for Dr. Jack Shepard to remove a disgraced member of the U.S. Senate ; Sen. Norm Coleman complete from the Minnesota US Senate Race and the U.S. Senate it self! He has betrayed the trust we placed in him.

We the people of Minnesota; have a responsible to remove Sen. Norm Coleman from the U.S. Senate by using our vote to vote against Norm Coleman in the Republican U.S. Senate Primary on Sept. 9, 2008 by voting for Jack Shepard just to remove him from The Minnesota U.S. Senate race and the U.S. Senate for literally criminal acts against our troops in Iraqi because Senator Norm Coleman didn't investigate as Chair of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI) Norm failed to investigate many many things.

Senator Norm Coleman choose not to investigate that our U.S. Troops in Iraq were drinking water contaminated with lethal pathogen’s which easily gets into our soldiers blood and then spreads through their bodies which can be fatal if not treated. Norm Coleman’s was given reports that of the 67 water treatment plants, 63 produced water that contained lethal pathogens in the water, because the contractor involved failed to use Chlorine. These pathogens which by now could have gotten into the blood of possible hundred of thousand of our brave US soldiers serving in Iraq.
New Inspector General report finds that Contractor delivered contaminated water to US bases in Iraq

By not investigating that our American troop were using for years water containing with lethal pathogen; Norm Coleman personally has place every soldier serving in Iraqi in serious danger.
“I'm here today because I want the American public to know what's happening. There are lot of soldiers over there, they might come home without a bullet wound, but there's a lot of them that are gonna have pathogens in their blood!” Ben Carter; Water Purification Specialist

It is of the most urgent necessity that every person serving in Iraq immediate go to the nearest V.A. Hospital and have their blood checked for Pathogens this is especially urgent because these pathogen can possible spread to your family members.

As serious is the deadly fact that Norm Coleman also refused to investigate the lack of and improper Body armour that our American troops serving in Iraq used or were not given. Many of our American soldier’s lives could have been saved if they were given proper body armour made to correct U.S. military specifications.

This same contractor who were responsible for producing water containing with lethal pathogen; also gave $100,000’s to Norm Coleman’s re-election campaign; for me this says all you have to know about why we owe it to our brave soldiers who fought and are still fighting in Iraq to vote against Norm Coleman in the Sept. 9, 2008 GOP Primary by voting for Dr. Jack Shepard only to eliminate Norm Coleman from the U.S. Senate for these criminal acts. And much, much more.

Senator Norm Coleman has utterly failed his responsibilities to oversee the Iraqi war costing the American taxpayers 10’s if not 100’s of Billions of dollars. Senator Norm Coleman had avoided all oversight responsibilities regarding Iraq! Norm Coleman didn't investigate contractors, especially those who contributed to his re-election campaign. And Norm Coleman wishes to run on his record?
I think Norm Coleman should be prosecuted on his record for as the Chair of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI) that did not investigate:
• Companies no-bid contracts
• Companies overcharging for services (some of which weren't provided)
• No-bid contracts given to companies as part of the Katrina cleanup fiasco
• The Jessica Lynch coverup
• The Pat Tillman coverup
• The production problems for MRAP vehicles
• Abu Ghraib
• Guantanomo
• Billions of dollars of State Department cash disappearing in Iraq
• Poorly constructed facilities built by contractors
• US troops using contaminated water
• Abuses committed by contracting companies in Iraq
• Wrong or not enough armor for troops and their vehicles
• Death of Pat Tillman
• Lies surrounding abduction and rescue of Jessica Lynch
He overlooked the incompetence and corruption of the policies in Iraq. Whether it was torture, lack of armour for our troops, billions of lost dollars or no-bid contracts, or even contractors getting paid for work they did not do. Norm was not interested in investigating these major contractor while at the same time taking large campaign donations from the same contractor involved in fraud.Senator Norm Coleman should be immediately be removed from in the U.S. Senate; he has betrayed the trust we placed in him.

Senate for literally criminal acts against our troops in Iraqi.

If he had investigated which have already cost the lives of our brave troops who died in Iraq due to lack or incorrect body armour and the brave troops who serve in Iraqi who were drinking water contaminated with lethal pathogens whose lives in the years to come will suffer through a slow death from lethal pathogens in their blood if not immediately treated.SO use your vote to vote against the re-election of Sen. Norm Coleman by voting for Dr. Jack Shepard to remove a disgraced member of the U.S. Senate ; Sen. Norm Coleman complete from the Minnesota US Senate Race and the U.S. Senate it self!

Norm Coleman has never listened and worked for the Minnesota people! Norm Coleman has been a senator motivated only to help his own self interests.

For example Norm Coleman lead the Senate in getting the most free use to corporate jets, 100 dollar corporate dinners, sleeping in $500 hotel rooms paid for by corporate lobbyists beside get personally paid $100,000’s of dollars for speaking at various events sponsored by the same special interest groups and lobbies to continue to buy his loyal support by paying him for these speaking events held with these same special interest groups and lobbies; that how they even legally paid money directly to Sen. Norm Coleman.

Despite constantly talking about supporting our troops, Norm hasn't supported the troops and because of this he was chosen the worst member of congress in failing his responsibility in over sight of the Iraqi war.

Norm opposed negotiating drug prices for his buddies in the drug industry. Sen. Coleman was the °#1 senator of campaign contributions from the Real Estate and the BIG DRUG COMPANIES rewarded NORM COLEMAN with big donations at the cost of SICK AND OLD Minnesotans who could not afford their medicine. We all know that our seniors are presently suffering and many can not afford the medicine that they must have to stay alive because of Sen. Norm Coleman voted for Medicare Part D and voted to deny Medicare the ability to negotiate drug prices.

Norm has opposed any real healthcare reform and this is not surprising. He is bankrolled by the health insurance industry, HMOs and the pharmaceutical companies -- he has done their bidding on healthcare reform. Despite constantly talking about supporting our troops, Norm hasn't supported the troops or the veterans.

Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN) to claim he supports the troops when he voted to strip important VA funding from the Labour, Health and Human Services bill 3 days before Veterans day. Sen. Norm Coleman is the #1 Senator for campaign contributions from the real estate industry. This is a surprise to nobody considering he's the Senator who co-authored the HOME Act which is written to help the banks holding subprime mortgages squeeze the last dollar out of homeowners facing

When newly elected as senator, he said he wanted most to reach across the aisle, to forge a more cooperative spirit in Washington. He said that bi-partisanship was his first priority. He says that still in his re-election campaign.Norm talks incessantly about “bring people together to get things do” his campaign slogan if you can believe it- but who can if believe anything that Sen. Norm Coleman says.
Since coming to the US Senate Norm Coleman has voted with the Republican Party on 86% of the time, with that including voting 98% of the time in 2003 alone.Norm Coleman is the most polarizing and partisan politician in Washington sticking over 93% until 2004 to the Republican Party line. After the massive Republican loses in 2004; then he got scared about his re-election.

Well Norm Coleman should be real scare for his re-election use your vote to vote against sending Norm Coleman back to the Senate form 6 more years of working for continuing the Iraqi War, working for Big Oil, big Banks, Real Estate, health insurance industry, the pharmaceutical companies, not for you the people of Minnesota. So use your vote to eliminate Norm Coleman from the U.S. Senate by voting for Dr. Jack Shepard in the >REPUBLCIAN PRIMARY ON SEPT. 9, 2008-

STOP NORM BEFORE HE SPENDS HIS OVER $8,000,000 ON LYING, SPIN POLITCAL MUD THROUGH-IN ADS THAT HIS USES TO COVER HIS CONTINUAL VOTING FOR AN UNENDING WAR IN IRAQ AND HIS WORK ONLY TO GET BIG DONATIONS BY VOTING FOR HIS BUSINESS FRIENDS RATHER THEN WORK FOR THE AVERAGE MINNESOTAN!

So “Dump Norm” by using your vote in the Republican primary to remove Norm Coleman from the U.S. Senate by voting for Jack Shepard- in the General election you can find someone to vote for that has a heart and will end the Iraqi war and vote to help Minnesotans, will propose legislation which will give Medicare the ability to negotiate drug prices, and things only for you, not like Norm only for Big Business, where did he get his millions in donations from not from you!
