I HOPE THIS NEW THRED IS NOT CONSUMED BY ACCUSATIONS OF RACISM OR IDIOTS CALLING DEMOCRATS REPUBLICANS JUST BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA, OR BECAUSE THEY WOULD CHOOSE MCCAIN OVER OBAMA IN NOVEMBER, BETTER WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT WHAT WE WILL DO NOW THEN, AND MAKE A FULLY INFORMED DECISION, THAN HIDE OUR INTENTIONS UNTIL AFTER A LOSING CANDIDATE IS NOMINATED

PERHAPS A LITTLE REALISTIC TALK ABOUT HOW INSIGNIFICANT WINNING "RED" STATES WOULD BE REFRESHING

For a democrat to vote for anyone other than a democrat means that they would have to sacrifice their beliefs.

To vote Republican, you:

1) Vote for someone who has disregard for civil liberties

2) Vote for someone who has disregard for the constitution

3) Vote for someone who does not believe a woman has the right of choice

4) Vote for someone for will further the religious theocracy which the neo-cons and Bush have started

5) Vote for someone who has no plan for the economy whatsoever

6) Vote for someone who has more care for business than they do for women, children, the poor, etc. Who will create more giveaways for these corps, and reduce all social programs trageted at those who need it

These things are what you will get with ANY republican. These things are traditional "core democratic values". If you are so willing to foresake them, I personally do not see who you can consider yourself a democrat.

Well I believe the definiation of a democrat is someone who votes for the democratic party.

So if one are to vote republican. That by definiation would make them an republican. You could make the arguement your an independant, but not a democrat.

After reading today's Washington Post article on the Clinton campaign, it appears to me that in the end Hillary lost this campaign, versus Obama winning it. FYI, I support Obama. It seems obvious that the voting patterns are pretty strong and distinct, and that the outcome of each race has been largely a function of the demographics within each contest. Hillary's coalition may actually be larger (women are the largest and most prized voting group), but her campaign's ineptitude and inability to get the vote out after Super Tuesday probably will prove to be fatal. Maybe the outcome is appropriate if it is an indication of her ability to lead and manage.

Having said all of that, I am becoming increasingly interested in a combined ticket. I am against the war in Iraq, so I don't want to lose sight of beating McCain. I think this nominating process will not end until the primaries do. If the superdelegates haven't settled the nomination by that time, I think a combined ticket is the only solution to avoiding a blood bath at the convention and assuring a victory over McCain.

Hillary would not be a vp under Obama. However I do think Obama offering Hillary the health postion in the cabinet is a much better solution.

Obama needs to get an experinced vp, or a national security vp.

timeforchange said...

Many Hillary supporters like me (I'm an independent) just cannot support Obama for all the reasons mentioned.

Early on posting here, I said I had a gut feeling about Obama and now revelations about his "wink wink" NAFTA policy and other fibs and lies he's told have confirmed this feeling.

As mentioned already, he is pompous, self serving, not all that patriotic, a plagiarizer (using others' words without attribution), and unsettling. His wife is much the same. It is obvious they are racists in sheep's clothing.

On the other hand Hillary is a proven entity who has worked hard most of her adult life for children, better education in AR, health care and much more.

Something about her being so solid and Obama being so nebulous makes me support her much more.

Obama is described in an article I posted as unbending, stubborn and not wanting to reach across the isle about many things.

In other words, HE IS NOT WHAT HE APPEARS TO BE!!

Some troubling things from Obama's Dreams from my Father....

Yet on whom does Barack’s memoir focus? On his father – whom Barack, against all evidence (which suggests that Dr. Obama was colossally selfish and narcissistic), seeks to portray as heroic, sympathetic, indeed near-mythic. Obama père was a polygamist (and a lousy husband to all his wives), but Barack gives no indication that he finds this morally problematic; on the contrary, he seems determined to excuse his father’s many failings as consequences of imperialism, colonialism, and/or racism. One can, of course, well understand why a small boy – or even a young man – might idealize out of all proportion the father he never met. But Obama shows few signs in this book of recognizing that he’s doing this. Meanwhile, perversely, he treats his mother and grandparents, who by his own account raised him with extraordinary devotion, all but dismissively.

At one point he even suggests that Gramps and Toot were really racists – and that all white people, in fact, are racists, and that black people have been so deformed by this racism that black individuals can hardly be held responsible for their own moral lapses.
______
So, it seems there are many underlying skeletons and troubling skewed perspectives in Obama's closet.

Maybe this is one of the things I sense in his rhetoric -- his narccisism and deep seetead suspicion of whites. If it is easy for him to dismiss those who raised him, then it must be much easier to dismiss whites as an ethnic group.

Below are some other reasons I don't like Obama and don't trust him. It worries me that we are seeing a cult following and mentality about Obama which is never good for objective thinking and reasoning.

By Bruce Bawer

Everybody’s gaga over Barack Obama. Or so it sometimes seems. People whose judgment I deeply respect are in ecstasy over the prospect of the junior senator from Illinois being elected President. Some of them have heard him speak live and have come away enchanted. For my part, I’ve seen him talk and debate and have read as much as I can find about his positions. The result? I’ve appreciated some stands he’s taken – and been extremely offended by others. I’ve noted some signs of what may actually be real principle and courage – as well as classic examples of political waffling, cynicism, and expediency. I can see that he’s smart, charming, and articulate – but, unlike some people, I don’t see him as some knight in shining armor who’s going to deliver us from government as usual.

More:::::

Forget the content of our character; this is a work preoccupied with skin color. It’s drenched with the legacy of Malcolm X (whom Obama, at least in this book, openly idolizes). At times it’s as if there were no historical injustices in the world other than those visited upon blacks by whites. Obama routinely refers to other black men (but never white men) as “brothers”; he exhibits considerably more concern for the dignity of black men than for that of women or non-black men; and he’s acutely sensitive to perceived racial slights (yet even as he deplores the subordination of blacks in America, curiously enough, he appears to accept as his due his family’s lofty position in Kenya). While occasionally gesturing toward an ideal of colorblindness à la Dr. King, in his heart of hearts he’s anything but colorblind, fervently endorsing black solidarity while repeatedly expressing distrust of, and even contempt for, whites. When, lamenting Kenya’s intertribal rivalries, he tells a relative that “We’re part of one tribe. The black tribe. The human tribe,” the last three words feel like an afterthought – as does his attempt, in the book’s closing pages, to move beyond strict racial line-drawing and to articulate broader sympathies. As if all this weren’t enough, it seems clear by book’s end that his heart’s home is not America but Kenya

protactinium said...

Timeforchange- Atleast you admit your an anti-obama voter, and no democrat.

I also find it obvious that you have no only an issue with Obama because he is black. Which in not an argueable issue. If you are a hate monger you will only vote on hate.

"he exhibits considerably more concern for the dignity of black men than for that of women or non-black men"

"tells a relative that “We’re part of one tribe. The black tribe. The human tribe,” the last three words feel like an afterthought –"

"At one point he even suggests that Gramps and Toot were really racists – and that all white people, in fact, are racists, and that black people have been so deformed by this racism that black individuals can hardly be held responsible for their own moral lapses."

Now I find it aweful Ironic, than you no more about my canidite then you do about you own. Why dont you keep the smut off the blogs and actually hit Obama on issues. Instead of looking for every little peice of crap you can cut and paste like a monkey.

Since persons attempting to join the military are not allowed to do so due to past drug use, how can Obama possibly be Commander in Chief of a military who disallows members who have done so?

Substance misuse
The causes for rejection for appointment, enlistment, and induction are:
"(3) The repeated self-procurement and self-administration of any drug or chemical substance, including cannabinoids or anabolic steroids, with such frequency that it appears that the applicant has accepted the use of or reliance on these substances as part of his or her pattern of behavior."
http://www.military.com/Recruiting/Conte...g,,00.html

This rule would disqualify him from joining the military.

This added information changes the circumstances quite a bit. How could you be allowed to command the military, if the same military wouldn't accept you because of frequent marijuana and cocaine use? Now, this is in fact a true case of being a double standard.

protactinium said...

"with such frequency that it appears that the applicant has accepted the use of or reliance on these substances as part of his or her pattern of behavior."

This section is a very important part of your supposed smear arguement. He did do drugs in college for a bit. He has come clean and says it is wrong. Atleast he is honest. However it being a pattern of behavior or him considering it acceptable use if a over blown statement.

So in fact what you say is wrong. Obama would be allowed in the military.

As far as Obama and past drug use goes, I personally have ZERO tolerance.

How can a US President (including Bush whom I dispise) preside over a country where ZERO tolerance is the standard.

They gave up that privilege by behaving badly. Period.

Seventeen-Steps. Annette's Solution To End the 2008 Democratic Primary Chaos.

1. After weeks of secret negotiations, Howard Dean convinces Antonin Scalia that 3 billion dollars is a pretty decent payoff. Er, retirement.

2. Scalia calls a press conference to announce his intention to retire soon. When asked why, he comments that it is because the Constitution annoys and confuses him. When asked WHEN he plans to retire, he replies that he will retire on the day after the next Presidential Inauguration. When asked why he has to wait until that exact date, he responds it is for ‘a number of personal reasons.’

3. Howard Dean presents a deal in a secret meeting with Hillary and Barack. Barack will drop out of the race and Hillary will put Barack on the ticket as her VP. After elected, Hillary will immediately step down and let President Obama appoint her to the Supreme Court to fill Scalia’s position.

4. Hillary agrees, if she can just get to be President for one day, please.

5. Barack agrees. Without pre-conditions.

6. Later that evening, Barack tells his wife in confidence that he has serious concerns regarding the damage he will be doing to the Supreme Court. His wife tells him to cut the crap, because if he thinks she went through this whole damn campaign just to spend four years as the wife of the VICE President, he’s got his head up his ass. Screw the Supreme Court.

7. Later that same evening, Hillary tells her husband in confidence that she has serious concerns regarding the damage she will be doing to the National Security. Bill points out that she apparently forgot how pissed off she used to get at those frequent middle-of-the-night phone calls when he was President and all those frequent middle-of-the-night national security emergencies came up. Screw national security.

8. The two candidates schedule a joint press conference, where Barack announces that he is dropping out of the race.

9. One of the cracker-jack investigative reporters in the crowd asks whether that massive banner across the stage that reads “Clinton/Obama” means that Clinton has asked Obama to be her VP. Hillary giggles and says yes.

10. When asked how he feels about this sudden development, Barack says this is the most fun that he’s had since that time he got to play in that bouncy thing at his friend Mikey’s fourth birthday party.

11. Barack closes the press conference with a special statement to his supporters. He says that he would like to assure his supporters that they should vote for the Clinton/Obama ticket because he promises them that they won’t be sorry. Honest. Really. He says he can’t go into details just yet for ethical reasons, but begs his supporters to vote for the ticket even though Hillary – whom he admires and respects greatly [wink, wink] – isn’t quite what they had in mind. Please just go along with it. Really.

12. The Clinton/Obama ticket wins the election.

13. The day after the Inauguration, Scalia calls a press conference to make his resignation official. He says “I hate to rush you all, but that’s all I have time to say for now. You’ll have to excuse me, but I have some urgent retirement-related business to tend to.”

14. Moments later, a small bank somewhere in the Cayman Islands receives a wire transfer of 3 billion dollars from someone who calls himself ‘God’ but who refuses to give his last name.

15. That very afternoon, Hillary stuns the public when she announces that she is stepping down from the Presidency immediately. When asked why, she comments that she had forgotten what a dump the White House is, and then reminds Americans that she never said a word about what she would do on Day Two.

16. Barack is sworn in as President. His first act as President is to nominate Hillary as Scalia’s replacement. She receives Senate approval in less than 30 minutes.

17. Barack’s childhood friend, Mikey, finds himself off doing interviews with Larry King, and Bill Clinton is later sighted making sudden and substantial investments in a formerly little-known company that rents out bouncy things to children’s birthday parties.

Not to me. Perhaps the same character flaws are what led him to his youthful drug use.

The connections are important and serious also.

I do not see how we can make laws against drug us (youthful and otherwise) and have the leader of this country as a former druggie!

Makes absolutely no sense to me.

ZERO tolerance eliminates quite a few people from becoming president but that's too bad.

There are many others who did not use drugs who are equally or more qualified to hold the highest office.

After mention of Ayers by NY dem, I had to look him up.

Obama's Chicago blues: Ayers and Rezko
Nothing new, of course, to the readers of Marathon Pundit, but this Bloomberg News report covers some of the items in Barack Obama's background that his campaign would prefer to keep hidden--Tony Rezko, of course, but also his contacts with the repugnant Bill Ayers, the former Weather Underground terrorist, and Obama's race-based Trinity United Church of Christ.

Obama's endorsement of Alexi Giannoulias for Illinois State Treasurer also is mentioned. Giannoulias was an officer at his family-owned Broadway Bank in Chicago, and approved a loan to Michael "Jaws" Giorango, a convicted bookmaker and reputed mobster. Shortly after be becoming a US senator, Obama said he didn't want to be "a kingmaker." But by endorsing Giannoulias over the party slated candidate, he did just that. Even after Alexi won the primary, the state Democratic Party chairman, Michael Madigan, refused to endorse Giannoulias. He won anyway.

timeforchange said...

Regarding Obama's connection to Ayers:

The facts are quite clear:

1. William Ayers conducted terrorist attacks inside the United States and against the U.S. Government. He does not consider himself a terrorist, but he admits he did the acts.
2. Barack Obama has had a long standing relationship with Ayers and is quite knowledgeable of his past.
3. Barack and Ayers served together on the Wood Fund. I am told, but have not yet confirmed, that they steered money to an individual who is under Federal indictment. If that is true, life gets more interesting.
4. William Ayers made a small financial contribution to Obama’s first campaign. In the total scheme of things, not significant, except it will be used by Republicans against Obama in the fall. How do you explain to Joe or Jane Average American that a guy who describes U.S. Marines as terrorists not only gave you money but also helped raise money for your campaign? Do you really think most Americans will shrug and say, “No big deal”?
_____________________________

Obama seems to run with the wrong crowd and I would say his integrity, ethics and judgment definitely leave a lot to be desired.

Now the person who says she is not all about Obama being a terroist is now trying to link Obama to terrorists. This is a pathetic scare tatics that Hillary want to use to try and smear Obama. As a consequence of Obama's dereliction of duty on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, a the Bush administration has had absolutely no oversight as it careens from disaster to disaster in Afghanistan, including the central governments loss of control over 70 percent of the country and yet another bumper crop of opium to fuel the efforts of the Taliban and their terrorist allies.

Of course, if you don't hold hearings, conduct oversight, make recommendations or sponsor legislation, then you have no record to explain or defend and you are free to take whatever position is convenient when attacking those who actually did address issues. Meanwhile, on the campaign trail, Obama holds forth on Afghanistan, chiding the administration and our allies as though he's a profile in courage and not someone who has abandoned his post in establishing accountability.

William Ayers

"EVERYTHING was absolutely ideal on the day I bombed the Pentagon,
the birds were singing, the sky was blue and those m*therf*ckers were finally going to get what was coming to them"

That excerpt from William Ayers' memoir had appeared in The New York Times on 9/11/2001 - the day al Qaeda terrorists crashed hijacked planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Ayers, once a leader in the Weather Underground - the group that declared "war" on the US government in 1970 - told the Times, "I don't regret setting bombs," and, "I feel we didn't do enough." He recently reappeared in the news because Politico.com reported Friday that Barack Obama has loose ties to him.

Now a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Ayers is apparently a left-wing institution in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. Obama began visiting his home when launching his political career in the mid-'90s.

The two also served on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago, which gave money to Northwestern University Law School, where Ayers' wife (and ex-Weather Underground compatriot who glorified violence) Bernardine Dohrn is the director."

Obama's (bad) judgment:

1. Aligning himself with Rezko for 20 years, pretending to only know him casually for a few. Sticking with Rezko even after he knew he was being indicted.

2. His "association" with Ayers, former terroist/bomber

3. The Canadian NAFTA falafel

4. The land deal with Rezko/wife making Obama's property appreciate in value

5. His drug use

6. His criticizing the situation in Afghanistan and Iraq but failing to hold a single oversight committee meeting due to his important run for the presidency.

7. Saying he was not the type to run for president with little experience--didn't feel comfortable, wouldn't do it.

8. His church affiliation whose pastor has a great admiration for Louis Farrahkan.

9. In his book "Dreams from My Father", he extolls the virtues of Kenya, his black brothers and dismisses his white family who raised him--calls them racist.

10. His refusal to wear an American flag lapel pin to prove some point about "doing" rather than "wearing".

11. His refusal to put his hand over his heart during the national athem (maybe not required but nonetheless stupid and arrogant not to).

12. He romantacizes Reagan--says the repub. party had ideas for over a decade (why didn't he add, albeit bad ideas? He has foot in mouth disease when he is speaking off the cuff!

13. Says he will meet with good and bad/evildoer leaders. Knows nothing about diplomacy and the carrot and stick approach obviously.

14. Repeatedly points out that he was against the war but has conceded that had he actually been in the Senate at the time he made the speech and had the briefings, etc. he might have felt differently.

15. Was it a good judgment on Obama's part hiring and having Austan D. Goolsbee as his senior economic policy adviser after what happened at the latest "Nafta" issue?

16. In a debate Obama told a story of a captain (should be lt. as they command platoons) and his platoon using weapons from the enemy and piecing together their weapons due to a shortage. Well, he voted not to fund....hmmmm. He lied 8 times! Either that or he has a very poor memory. Not presidential at all!

Well, you get the picture!

On the one hand he says he has the better judgment and when confronted with his dealing with Rezko and other things, he says he made a mistake, did some "bone headed things".

Which is it Barack, are you bone headed or are you better at judgment?

I think I know the answer.

Chicago politics is corrupt like Obama. I understand it and lived through some of the most corrupt wheeling and dealing that politics had to offer.

It isn't much different these days.

Obama is a product of corrupt Chicago politics.

My mother grew up there and so did my husband. I visted and lived there. Baaaaaaaad--Chicago baaaaaaad!

Today is is rumored Obama and 2 dozen super delegates had a meeting with Obama to find out when they should offically endorse Obama. Obamas people is trying to cordinate a block of super delegates, (I heard 50 being thrown around) in order to make Hillary relize the delegate math is impossible for her.

So actually it looks like the super delegates may work out well for Obama. They can end this election almost any time these choose at this point. I am guessing everyone wants to see what happens in Penn. However they made noise that the delegate block may endorse Obama previous to Penn.

Penn is essentially a senate, or governer race. 6 weeks, 30 million dollar per campaign fighting. Hillary must win big or go home. Im looking foward to it.
