WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
The table below shows the schedule for each State Convention where Unpledged Add-on Delegates was selected.
The following description of the Add-on Delegates is taken from the Democratic National Convention Committee(DNCC) web site:
"Add-on delegates - may be selected by either the same selecting body that selects the state's PLEO delegates or by the same selecting body which will select the state's "at-large" delegates. They can be selected whether or not they previously filed a statement of candidacy for a delegate position or submitted a pledge of support for a presidential candidate..
Add-ons who have endorsed are shown by a (O) or (C) after their name. They will be listed on our endorsement page. If no letter is shown, they are on the Undeclared list.
Update April 4: The AP provides an interesting overview of the add-ons are how they are selected.

Does this mean all the add-on delegates for a given state will be chosen so as to support the overall delegate winner of that state?
What does it mean when it says there are both pledged and unpledged add-on delegates? I haven't seen any reference to pledged add-ons anywhere. Are they talking about the pledged at-large delegates?
Jose - We have not made any implication about how the add-ons will be chosen. Each state has different rules - we'll be watching this closely.
Kcindc - that text made no sense to me either, and I've deleted in from the post. There's no reference in the DNC documentation that I have to pledged add-on delegates. Nothing could be better than the DNCC website to have confusing information on it.
Thanks for this, suggest it would be useful to also add a column to show where available the delgate results of the Primary or Caucaus whic determines who is at the State convention.
I think in those states with 1 delegate the winner will determine who gets elected, in those with more than 1 the state rules may have some proportionality or it may be winner takes all as "in theory" these are not pledged delegates.
You should probably add Mark Panetta's name to the DC unpledged add-on tally in your table (Apr. 3). The "DC statehood Representative" is already listed in the Obama endorsement column.
Typically yes it does mean that the add-on goes to the state winner. In 2004, Oregon gave Kucinich a few delegates but the add-on went to Kerry as the statewide winner.
Now I'm even more confused. Are these 76 / 81 "add on" delegates part of the roughly 343 undeclared superdelegates? Or are they supposed to be choosen and then immediately/quickly given an "assignment" of who it is they are supposed to vote for at the convention?
As for the CT add-on, it is being selected at a meeting being held *at* State Central (the office suite in Hartford), but not *by* State Central (the elected body which constitutes the official state Democratic party.)
The district-level delegates will be selecting the add on, and the district-level delegation reads 17 for Obama, 14 for Clinton.
rickyjames - the add-ons are officially "Unpledged", so they are not "assigned" in any way. If one candidate controls the selection process they may be able to pick an add-on who feels the same way, but that's a selection issue. The are unpledged, and are part of the 343.
I think you mean they're part of the 795 (the superdelegates), and *most* of them are currently part of the 343 (the undeclared superdelegates). But 2 of them have declared for Obama, and presumably others will be assigned to Obama or Clinton as they make statements, just like any other superdelegates.
Thanks for the clarification. I understand that there may be some "spin" in the selection process that yields picks in this group that lean in one direction or the other, but the clarification that they are officially "superdelegates" helps. The thing that confuses me is that there are still states who have already held their primaries / caucuses that have apparently still not specified / awarded all of their pledged delegates yet. I still don't know what they're waiting for, you'd think the pledged delegates would all be identified by candidate the day after the election, but nooooooo.....
Just out of curiosity, does the DCW/AP/CNN/CBS etc numbers include some sort of estimated split of these "still in limbo" pledged delegates? Any chance of a sudden surprise that a block (like that creepy "Unknown - IA" of 14 you list below Edwards delegates) will suddenly be announced as "for Clinton" and shift the current balance in a big way?
rickyjames - not sure what your definition of "still in limbo", but the media includes estimates of national pledged delegates where it thinks it has enough information to do so.
The Iowa 14 will depend on what happens at the County Conventions this Saturday. See the post made earlier today for more details.
In a few weeks you may want to add a column that specifies who the new add-ons have endorsed. It might make it easier to understand. If they are still uncommitted after they are named it should be so noted.

I second math 101's motion. It would be extremely helpful to have this info in this chart without having to navigate around the site to figure out add-on endorsements. Maybe a total at the top or bottom of the chart of endorsements for Obama, Clinton, and Uncommitted.
This is such an awesome site. Thanks!!!
We've added a (O) or (C) after each add-on who has endorsed. Hope that helps. The Supers by Position in the sidebar gives the totals for the add-ons, currently 5 for Obama, 1 for Clinton.
Your date is wrong for the Add-on for Maine. The selection date is June 1.
http://mainedems.org/documents/DelegateGuide2.doc
http://mainedems.org/documents/DraftAgenda.doc
Maine has been fixed, thanks. In case anybody missed it, NJ add-ons were added yesterday.
I am rather confused about New Hampshire. Is Kathy Franklin the same person as Kathy Sullivan? If they are two different people, then why is Kathy Franklin not on the Superdelegate Endorsement List?
Fixed. Kathy Sullivan is the correct add-on.
Added addons: Kathy Sullivan (NH), Terry Goddard (AZ), Laurie Weahkee (NM).
We've added some notes at the bottom with future add-on selection information. Let us know if you find other information like this.
* Former state Education Superintendent Inez Tenenbaum, an Obama supporter, has been selected as the add-on from South Carolina.
* Maryland has chosen former Gov. Parris N. Glendening and former Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend as its add-ons. Townsend is a Clinton supporter, and Glendening is backing Obama. - Baltimore Sun.
Post will be updated tonight.
Matt,
Glendening is missing an "(O)" in the list. The projected tally for the candidates also needs to be updated.
Glendening fixed. I believe projected tally is correct at 8-3.
How soon can we expect the election results from the quorum of district-level delegates during the Utah State Convention today? Mid-day? Late afternoon? This evening? Next day?
Kristi Cumming has been elected add-on for Utah, according to utdemocrats web site.
Delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Denver were elected Friday, including unpledged add-on (or so-called superdelegate), Kristi Cumming. A complete list of delegates and candidates for the November ballot will be posted on Saturday.
http://www.utdemocrats.org/
I hate to be a spelling pedant, but there's an error in your transcription of the add-on rules.
"Add-on delegates - maybe selected by either the same selecting body...
should be
"Add-on delegates - may be selected by either the same selecting body...
Cumming added to table, and is for Obama.
OH add-ons are Dave Regan and William Craig Bashein
http://www.buckeyestateblog.com/redfern_appoints_his_delegates
According to fundrace.huffingtonpost.com, William C Bashein (OH add-on???) has previously given money to the John Edwards campaign.
Second MA add-on is Attorney General Martha Coakley. We have her as uncommitted.
While knowing from my own experience in my own state that local requirements can trump the national campaign, I have trouble seeing how Obama would get fewer than 20 of the remaining unpledged add-ons.
p.s. That reference to pledged add-ons. Sometimes the pledged PLEOs are called add-ons because of the way that they are assigned to the states. The DNC delegate calculation begins with each state getting a base delegation. That base delegation is split 75% to district level delegates and 25% to at-large delegates. They then "add on" 15% to that base delegation for the pledged PLEOs. In other words, in DNC speak, every state gets 115% of the base delegation -- somewhere Garrison Keiler is smiling knowing that every state is above average.
The final tally: Obama won 14 national delegates and Clinton won 11 national delegates. Under the caucus results, Obama was expected to win 13 national delegates to Clinton's 12. Although Clinton won the caucuses, Obama out-performed her in rural Nevada and Washoe County.
The convention has one more delegate to name, although that person goes to the national convention unpledge
Kansas
http://www.fortmilltimes.com/124/story/167123.html
Barack Obama picked up an additional delegate Saturday in his run for president when Kansas Democrats gave Lt. Gov. Mark Parkinson a seat at the party's national convention.
Parkinson will go to Denver in late August as the state's lone unpledged "add-on" delegate, but he endorsed Obama in February. He wore an Obama button during the state party convention that awarded him the spot.
Kansas add-on Mark Parkinson added for Obama. Colorado add-on Federico Pena added for Obama. Nevada add-on Rusty McAllister is Uncommitted.
Please consider correcting the spelling of the first name of add-on superdelegate Kristi Cumming; add last letter to first name.
Fixed thanks
any word from CA?
The meeting was scheduled to start at 1:00 PDT, just a few minutes ago, and is scheduled to run for 3 hours. So it might be a few hours before we hear anything.
Add-ons added. 3 for Clinton and 2 for Obama
Here is the May 24 schedule for the Alaska convention:
1:00 p.m.
Election of Delegates and Alternates to the Democratic National Convention:
District-Level Delegates (8) and Alternates (3)
4 p.m.
Unpledged Add-On Delegate (1)
PLEO Delegates (2)
At-Large Delegates (3) and Alternate (1)

Correction on that ref:
http://alaskademocrats.org/index.php?page=display&id=168
4 hour time difference from the East Coast
The two add-on delegates are state party secretary Stephen Leeds, an Obama supporter, and Verna Cleveland, who was Clinton's Georgia state director.
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hY742M_s1ttD_ycf2Zusn1o1fD3QD90S4FC80
GA add-ons have been added.
In the endorsement list you have:
Verma Cleveland (O) and Stephen Leeds (O) Selected during the State Committee Meeting
I hope Im wrong but shouldn't Cleveland be (C)?
Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton each picked up a delegate in Georgia on Saturday as state Democrats selected their delegation to the party's national convention in Denver this summer
the AP is reporting Cleveland as a Clinton supporter not Obama
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hY742M_s1ttD_ycf2Zusn1o1fD3QD90S4FC80
YOu also show William Bashein of Ohio as uncommitted on this page but as committed to Clinton elsewhere
Cleveland and Bashein fixed. thanks.
WHEN will Wyoming announce their add-on? What is the schedule ???
Goggles added for WY, Knowles for AK.
Hawaii add-on picked:
"State Democrats chose retired Judge James Burns, also an Obama supporter, as the final superdelegate."
And the two new supers:
Chairman Brian Schatz and vice chairwoman Kari Luna say they will support Obama at the national convention.
http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080525/BREAKING01/80525050
James Burns added to add-on table.
"Add-on superdelegate selection schedule" has been updated to reflect the RBC decision on 5/31/2008.
Quon_mom. I see that you associate parenthetical asterisks (*) with Florida and Michigan listings. Customarily, the purpose of the asterisk is to direct readers to some notation below, accompanied by an asterisk, however, my search for the expected notation leaves me in puzzlement. I suspect that you intended to explain in your asterisked note that each Florida delegate and each Michigan delegate receives a half vote rather than a full vote.
Maine add-on named for Obama, is this right?
Yes, that is right. Gwethalyn Phillips
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/samgrahamfelsen/gGByzK
Quon_mom. Thanks for fixing.
Gwethalyn Phillips added for Maine.
Jay Nixon (MO) endorsed Obama yesterday. That leaves 5 named add-ons who have yet to endorse:
Jerry Lee (TN)
Alex Sink (FL)
Steve Geller (FL)
Terry Goddard (AZ)
Rusty McAllister (NV)
Jim Hoffa will named an add-on from Michigan, and has endorsed Obama.
Mississippi add-on: Jim Hood
Texas add-ons: "former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk, who helped steer Obama’s campaign in Texas; Becky Moeller, president of the Texas AFL-CIO (and a supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton); and Molly Beth Malcolm of Texarkana, a past chairwoman of the state party and Obama supporter."
Thanks, Matt, for posting those add ons....I keep track of every single one. I feel the amount of delegates each campaign has when they go to the convention is very important to the eventual end game. I like to know where we stand at all times..Dalene
Dalene - We'll keep posting the add-ons as we find them, but there won't be an end game. The nomination battle is over.
Matt, yes the nomination battle is over but circumstances at the time of the convention could be affected in the way of concessions, etc. thanks for keeping up the count..Dalene
KY add-on Matthew Barzin - Obama.
For what it is worth, the Texas Clinton add-on, Becky Moeller, endorsed Obama.

Montana's add-on, Anna Whiting Sorrell, is an Obama supporter as well.
http://superdelegateland.blogspot.com/2008/06/montana-selects-obama-supporter-as-add.html
Added RI add-on, Jill Padwa, (2 weeks early).
Added MN add-ons Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak (O) and Dr. Josie Johnson.
Added MT add-on Anna Whiting Sorrell (O).
Still looking for add-ons from VT and PA.
Add-ons from PA:
John Street
Jack Wagner
Lynne Abraham
Here
John Street - former Philadelphia Mayor
Jack Wagner - Pennsylvania Auditor General
Lynne Abraham - Philadelphia District Attorney
This site, dated April 21, 2008, states, "...Lynne Abraham (who is on your ballot as a delegate to Hillary Clinton), John Street (who is also on your ballot as a delegate to Hillary Clinton), ..."
This site, dated April 15, 2007, states, "Auditor General Jack Wagner, will throw his lot in with Sen. Barack Obama this afternoon in Washington, Pa. Wagner, a former state senator, is a popular 'Casey Democrat' pol from western Pennsylvania."
Er, I meant April 15, 2008, of course.
Green Mountain Daily says, "Unpledged Delegate:
Secretary of State Deb Markowitz ... Markowitz was elected the Vermont Delegation chair."
Added PA and VT add-ons per above comments. Jeff, THANKS!
Matt
Right now there is a C behind the name of Texas add on Becky Moeller on the add on list...I saw tonight on the superdelegateland blog that she has switched to Obama...her press release was as follows "I proudly, wholeheartedly and optimistically support Barack Obama for president." Also found out today for sure that as of yet, Jim Hood, the Mississippi add on has not endorsed anyone ....Dalene
We're aware that Moeller changed her endorsement - but we're no longer tracking superdelegate endorsement changes, and for the future add-ons, we're going to show their endorsement at the time of their selection. So we'll keep the C next to Moeller's name.
Iowa State Convention has been postponed due to flooding.
Idaho has selected its ad-on superdelegate. He is former US Congressman Richard Stallings. He is expected to support Barack Obama, but was not in attendance at the convention to confirm.
The second Michigan add-on delegate is Richard Long.
"Teamsters President James Hoffa Jr. and United Auto Workers union official Richard Long were selected to fill two superdelegate spots, joining 27 Michigan superdelegates already named."
Because the UAW has endorsed Obama, Long presumably becomes an Obama delegate, just as UAW Secretary-Treasurer Elizabeth Bunn and retired union Vice President Richard Shoemaker did on June 10.
Added add-ons Richard Long (MI), Richard Stallings (ID). Still looking for the add-ons from Virginia, West Virginia and Washington.
WA Addons
Unpledged add-on delegates are nominated by the state party chair (Dwight Pelz) and elected by those Democrats who are already going on to Denver. Two were just elected out of four nominated - Sharon Smith and Victor Collaryo.
http://www.nwprogressive.org/weblog/2008/06/live-from-spokane-election-of-remaining.html
The West Virginia unpledged add-on is Peter Cuffaro, from Ohio County, elected by the State Executive Committee.
Wisconsin add-ons:
"The party has selected former chair Linda Honold and former Assembly Speaker Walter Kunicki as unpledged add-on delegates to the national convention.
Add-on delegates function like the party's super delegates and are not committed to either candidate. But Honold is backing Hillary Clinton, and Kunicki supports Barack Obama."
This blog comment by one of the Clinton delegates elected at the Virgina State Democratic Convention (on her own blog), says, "I saw a comment about the add-on delegates. One was Renee Grisham. If memory serves, the other was Ward Armstrong."
Renee Grisham is a Community Activist from Arlington, and a member of the Clinton Campaign Virginia Women’s Steering Committee.
Ward Armstrong is Virginia House of Delegates Minority leader and an Obama supporter since Edwards dropped out.
KEWL Jeff -- I have not been able Google any thing for VA add-ons yet
Sharon Smith and Victor Collaryo added for WA. Peter Cuffaro added for WV. Linda Honold (C) and Walter Kunicki (O) added for WI. Renee Grisham (C) and Ward Armstrong (O) added for VA. Thanks for all the tips!
Nebraska: Kenny Mass
AP Wire story
AP Wire Story, June 21
Oregon: Former Gov. add on Barbara Roberts has endorsed Obama
Add-ons added: Barbara Roberts (OR) - Obama, Kenny Mass (NE), Joe Hackney - Obama and Pricey Harrison - Obama (NC),
South Dakota add-on picked June 28.
Still looking for Indiana and Puerto Rico.
WA add-on name corrected to Victor Collymore.
Added Mariolga Luis (PR). Still looking for Indiana.
Indiana: Joe Hogsett, co-chair of Hoosiers for Hillary.
Google News his name, it's in the Munster Times, June 23, by Patrick Guinane.
Blogger has some bug making the link impossible to post in this case.
Hogsett (IN) - Clinton added. Just two more add-ons to go. (Thanks for the tip).
Is she voting Clinton at the convention?
I mean he. I guess so, selected since Indiana votesd Clinton, but did not see that in the article.
Colfer
Even tho' Joseph Hogsett, Indiana, previously was a Clinton supporter, I haven't been able to confirm that he will vote for her now that Obama has the nomination.
The Wikipedia site, List of Democratic Party(United States) Superdelegates 2008, has Hogsett as uncommitted. And as you pointed out,it didn't say in the article that he was still a Clinton supporter. I also spoke with two other reporters who covered the Indiana state convention June 21 and they both said that Hogsett is now uncommitted. That's all I have been able to find out so far.
Well, I am the Wikipedia editor who listed it that way! Thanks for the info. Maybe the state convention delegates wanted a nominal Clinton supporter. The whole idea of unpledged superdelegates "endorsing" or "committing" is kind of nebulous now that Clinton herself has endorsed Obama!
For our purposes here, it was to reflect that the add-on was a nominal Clinton supporter. We stopped adding real endorsements on June 6.
Colfer
Yes, I understand that Hogsett is a nominal Clinton supporter and that is why he is listed here with a C for Clinton...I found two other supers who endorsed Obama on June 7 that are still listed as uncommitted on the Wikipedia site. I didn't think I should take up space regarding them here as this site isn't keeping track of those details any longer...I'd be glad to send you the info directly if you are interested.
Last two add-ons of the year: In Iowa, First Lady Mari Culver. In South Dakota, Mark Anderson, president of the South Dakota AFL-CIO.
For those still reading and keeping track, thanks for all the support and tips. We started this list as a curiosity, but before we knew it, each add-on was getting their very own post, and debate was raging in the blogs whether future add-ons could be predicted. Well, we end where we started, as a curiosity. And that's OK. - Matt
