I would just note

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

that while we all agree that the election of McCain/Palin would be a disaster for this country, it should not be lost on us that whatever happens in November, for the first time in the history of this country, we will not have two white men as President and Vice President. This is a good thing.

ALERT: I'm still checking this out here in Denver because I've not yet had the chance to listen to Sarah Palin's speech in full. But a CNN.com post brought to my attention this serious breach of military and national security during her introductory address:__Today we found out that the Republican Nominee for Vice President is Governor Sarah Palin. I have watched all the debates after her acceptance speech and no one brought up the fact that she, in front of a worldwide audience, broke Operational Security the Military prides itself on. She announced the MOS of her son serving in the Army, and went on to say the exact date and the country her son’s unit will deploy too. She has not only endangered the life of her son, but all the other soldiers in his unit. Senator John McCain never talked about his own son’s service for that very reason. I think it shows the lack of Judgment on the part of McCain’s Camp to not screen her speech and shows her own inexperience on the National Stage. For a candidate who prides himself on National Security his Vice Presidential choice just blew that argument out of the water. So why are we not talking about this issue?____Pass this along on blogs and MSM posts. ________

Here's what she said: "Track now serves in an infantry brigade, and on September 11 Track will deploy to Iraq in the service of his country." No other details.

To see if this is a "serious breach of military and national security," Google the phrase "will deploy to Iraq". Here's the first hit:

http://www.kfoxtv.com/military/9838290/detail.htm...

An exact date for deployment of a specifically identified company, complete with the kind of training they've undergone.

There's enough we can criticize the McCain-Palin ticket on without spreading this kind of rumor.

I respectfully disagree Matt. It doesn't matter who it is, as long as they can do a good job. Whether they are a man, woman, black or white, we need someone to fix this mess. Obama/Biden is the choice I will be voting for, but if it was Biden/ or any other white man, and they did a good job, I would vote for them. Race and color mean nothing to me when I vote.
Thanks Matt for this great blog!

Race and color mean nothing to me when I vote either. And I'm not saying that a female or non-white executive would be any better or worse. I'm just saying that, after 220 years of white males, it says something about the progress of our country that the string will finally be broken.
