Hurricane Watch

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

Already up to 125 mph, Cat 3. Landfall Monday Night/Tuesday morning MS, LA to upper TX coast. Expected to make landfall as a major hurricane. I have no clue what the GOP is going to do.

Latest update from NOAA:

THE 200 PM EDT POSITION...21.6 N...82.5 W. MOVEMENT
TOWARD...NORTHWEST NEAR 14 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...145 MPH.
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...945 MB.
Up to a Category 4... not good.

McCain in an interview to be aired
on Fox tomorrow:
“It wouldn’t be appropriate to
have a festive occasion while a
near tragedy or a terrible
challenge is presented in the
form of a natural disaster.”
Funny... didn't seem to bother you

There's no way Gustav could affect the Convention weather-wise, is there? They are "just" worried about it reminding people of the BushCo debacle? I don't see how they can postpone the Convention given the reservations, etc.

Now a cat 4 (2:50p Eastern).

I find it a little tasteful that some people are clearly gleeful about the prospect of a big hurricane hitting Louisiana. Obviously it wouldn't be good for the Republicans to have their convention in the shadow of a reminder of the Katrina fiasco, but it wouldn't be all that great for the people of Louisiana either.

Oops, I mean tasteless , obviously. Dammit, why can't you edit your comments on this blog?

Matt, you mean 3 years ago (2005). That is a Katrina picture.

I hope and pray there is loss of life or destruction of property with this storm.

That said, it is all so very ironic because a Focus on the Family group asked Christians to pray for "rain of biblical proportions" during Obama's speech.

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/aug/11...

This was an ungodly prayer. Now we have a storm which may distract everyone from the Republican Convention.

As my grandmother used to say "God doesn't like ugly". Focus on the Family was acting very, very ugly.

Beryl, you right, they did say that. I forgot until now. Karma is a ***** Man.

You get what you deserve I guess.

Let me just also clarify, I do not want anyone hurt or destruction. It erks me they were hoping for all this rain of Biblical proportions. And look what it brought us. But I seriously look at this as a sign from God.

Great speeches at the Democratic Convention.
McCain picks an idiot.
God reminds people about Bush and Katrina.
Maybe God does take a hand in politics...
