Interesting analysis from 538.com, not exactly a Hillary supporter during the primaries:
Was it the best choice? I guess we'll never know. From among the five or so candidates who seemed plausible in the endgame, I think Hillary gives you the best chance of occupying the White House in 2009. But maybe she doesn't give you the best chance of governing effectively, maintaining a majority in the Congress in 2011, or getting re-elected in 2013

It's NOT official yet.
Neither Obama or Biden have confirmed this.
There is still a chance all of the media will have egg on their face in the morning.

I didn't get the text message. I thought we'd be the "First to Know". Who leaked to the Times?
Reply
Insiders did, but look at it this way. All Friday was spent on speculation about who would be VP and the news was leaked at 12:45 AM. Most people were asleep and if the texts are sent out early in the morning like they're saying they probably will, many people will still get the text first. The important thing is that we dominated the news on a day we didn't do anything to warrant it. Plus, we'll have the weekend and all of next week.

Ben Smith at Politico is playing it safe and smart ...
He says (IF TRUE)
Reports: It's Biden
CNN and the Associated Press report that Obama has chosen Delaware Senator Joe Biden as his running mate.
If true, he's in some ways a traditional pick.........

DailyKos is also saying 'The Obama campaign has not confirmed that it is Biden"
They have a thread for comments and many people do not believe that it is Biden!

leah, got a link? I really, really, want to know who said it was Biden, and Im sure the Obama campaign does too.

leah, a link to the thread you are talking about. And I meant I want to know the source who said it was Biden. Because the AP article said the source wanted to remain anonymous.

So, although I don't think Biden was the WORST choice he could make, on Obama's website, since I was invited to send a welcome message to Senator Biden, I wrote this:

I am a registered independent voter who voted for Obama in the California primary. I don't like that you've been in the Senate for over 30 years. I don't like that you're an old white man. I don't like that you were chosen to be an "attack dog" for the campaign. I don't like that you were also chosen because of this silly perception that Obama isn't experienced enough, and needs an experienced VP. I don't like that, from what people say, you're not likely to stay on message with the Obama campaign. I feel like Senator Obama has abandoned his value of bringing change to Washington. How in HELL do you represent change?

Kevin, Don't you understand?

Biden is not the Presidential Candiate.
Obama is.
He will bring change.
Biden is there to challenge him, and bring an Independent voice, just as Obama has said.
This ticket couldn't be any better.
We have a Fresh, New, Senator that is not afraid to bring some dignified change to this country. Biden is there to complement Obama. Just look at Obama's policies, and tell me why you think they are not change?

OK. Well, do you seriously think Hillary, the person you want to be VP, would say to you vote for McCain. If she has gotten around to supporting Barack, then it's time you should too. She is the one that lost. Act mature, and just realize that Obama and Clinton have a lot of the same policies. We need to UNIFY.

Hey superdelegates. I'm still smarting from my 3am wake up call. Please have a roll call vote on VICE PRESIDENT. Biden is fine, but really, let's pick Clinton anyway. Biden won't mind. Obama made a mistake.
