Obama and the Magic Mountain

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

Obama will be speaking live via satellite tonight, but today, he's in Davenport, Iowa. Which abuts Bettendorf, Iowa, home of the Rossburger, and the Magic Mountain. As reported by Jake Tapper:

Illustrating just how eager Obama was to win over the crowd, Obama at one point reached out to a voter's skeptical husband via telephone.

Cynthia Freidhof, who with her husband Ron owns Ross's restaurant in Bettendorf, Iowa, stood to invite Obama -- known as a healthy, if not finnicky, eater -- to eat a "Magic Mountain" sandwich at Ross's.

The Magic Mountain is Texas toast grilled, loose steamed hamburger meat, homemade hash browns, and french fries, all topped with cheddar cheese sauce (A volcano version includes chili and jalapenos).

I bring this up because I have seen a Magic Mountian, and a volcano, in real life. When I moved to Iowa, 3 friends drove me out. We brought a car, and a panel van which held all my worldly possession. As we came over the bridge from Illinois on Route 80, in the dark, hungry, there was the big, welcoming, red sign: "Ross's Restaurant". The three of them were barely able to eat one whole volcano. As a life-long vegetarian, I was in awe.

I'm unable to find a picture of one, but the description above is pretty accurate. Except it's bigger than that.
