WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
USA Today had an interesting article yesterday (page 4A) on the attendees at the Democratic Convention.
In 1996, the gender difference was 49.9% women/50.1% men. This year, it is 50.1% women/49.8% men.
In terms of race and ethnicity, whites have fallen from 66.7% in 1996, to 56.7% this year. Blacks have increased from 19% to 24.5%, Hispanics (any race) from 9% to 11.8%, Asian/Pacific Islanders have gone from 2.9% to 4.6%, and Native Americans from 1.4% to 2.5%.
It will be interesting to see, by comparison, what the numbers are over at the GOP convention next week.
