all I'm saying is they are full of shit.[the polls I mean].I've talked to about 14 democrats just tonight you would think out of those at least 1 would say that Biden is better than Hillary if you listen to the polls. Frankly I believe them to be just about useless. The main reason is because he is so conservetive. They are avid gun owners and a few of them are menbers of the NRA and the NRA doesn't like Biden. AJ

AP now I'm not saying that they said that they would vote for McLame but we were talking about Obamas pick. I'm also saying that they don't really have a choise of who they vote for because if they vote for Obama they would get Biden. That he is much better than anybody McLame will pick.I also agreed with them. AJ

between a man and woman [might as well say 5 years] is a lot. AJ
I wonder if McCain is going to 'seriously' consider Palin and Hutchinson, both females, for his VP. I could see him doing something like that to get the PUMAs and some other HRC folks that are mad, but I think he would upset his conservative base more than he would benefit from the extra votes.
I am hoping that he picks Romney or Lieberman because then he will surely lose!

p.s. I am having more trouble typing Biden than I ever did typing Sebelius! LOL :)
p.s.s. It was pretty funny today hearing Chris Matthews mess up several times calling Biden - O'Biden !

And I could self-select 14 or 40 people to talk to and get whatever opinion I wanted to get, depending on who I selected.
As to the reference to polls, which 'polls' did you mean?
The different organization's rankings of Biden's votes? If so, those are not polls, but rankings of how the person agreed or disagreed, as indicated through recorded vote, with the organizations' view of how the vote should have gone.
The popularity polls, ala Gallup, Rasmusson, ARG, etc.? Those are not fact, but an estimate of how people view the candidates. Since they are estimates, they are not factual, but most are fairly close to the actual view by the voting public of the candidates. The only time anyone can actually test the accuracy of the poll estimates is when all the votes are counted after election day.
Lots of people don't believe in the accuracy of the popular polls. If you are a political candidate, though, disregard them at your own risk, as their track record in the aggregate, although not perfect, is much, much more accurate than most people recognize.
Most people say "I've never been polled" and that's why they don't trust the polls. A lot of research goes into how to do proper polling, though, and a small sample, properly designed and executed, CAN give accurate results within some margin of error.
And for your information, I've been polled several times. But only when there was a close race, resulting in a lot of polling being done in the state or Congressional District.

And now we just might know the truth about why Hillary was not fully vetted --->
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080824/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_veep_tick_tock
Excerpt:
Hillary Rodham Clinton, who ran so closely to Obama in the primary, was never seriously considered, said two officials involved with the search. She asked not to be vetted unless she was going to be picked, the two officials said, speaking on a condition of anonymity to describe the private discussions.

once again she didn't have to be vetted like the other ones.{ no offence meant] AJ
Leah,
In my opinion, Palin would be a good choice for McCain, in terms of helping the Obama campaign.
Palin is facing an ethics problem in Alaska right now - the firing of a police official under suspicious circumstances.
Hutchinson would make Texas a super-safe state for McCain, but would probably have a detrimental effect on McCain's chances in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and probably Florida. McCain has no path to victory unless he keeps Florida and Ohio red, and a very narrow path without winning Michigan and/or Pennsylvania. Anything endangering a McCain victory in any of those four states means more time and money he has to spend electioneering in those states, and less time and money in other states, like Colorado, Nevada, Virginia, North Carolina, Indiana, or any other state that is now purple or blue, when it was a 'red state' four years ago.
So yes, he should put Palin or Kay Bailey on the ticket! It would make an Obama victory much easier!!
Mike

I have one problem with the link you sent, its this word. [anonymity] It's real easy for them to spit out trash with them saying that they want to be that. AJ
The average attorney doesn't actually make that much.
http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Attorney_%2f_Lawyer/Salary
Only the really good ones actually make a lot of money.
169,000 a year is still about 3 times the average HOUSEHOLD income in this nation, and about 4 times the average individual income.
Until recently, the President only made 200,000 a year (now 400,000). The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court makes about 212,000. That is pretty good money, and the pension isn't too bad either.
I don't know about anyone else here, but apparently he is only worth about 1 year of his income. I'm only 26, and I'm worth nearly as much as Biden is according to the report posted earlier. I've never made anywhere near that income either. He may donate money, or something else, but that is plenty of money to become rich on. Most of the wealthy people make the majority of their income on investments, not on their salary. Immigrants are a great example of this. The Greek that got shot a few years ago in the Abramoff scandal started as a dish washer, but he saved and invested his money until he owned a fleet of gambling boats worth hundreds of millions.

Aunt Jean,
According to the administrators of this site, this is not a pro-Clinton website. It isn’t even a pro-Obama website. It is a website by Democrats for Democrats to promote the Democratic agenda. At this time, the singular, pre-eminent agenda for Democrats is to elect Barack Obama the next president of the United States of America, and to increase their majority in the two Houses. Your constant blind, stubborn, uninformed, and uneducated harangue in defense of all things Clinton is very irritating and against the interests of Democrats.
From time to time, I may comment on a factual matter relating to the Clintons. If you don’t like any of my comments, just skip them and move on. If you choose to comment on them, make intelligent comments. Otherwise, I may have to come down on you. Kapish?
AP and Beryl some of the links that has been posted on here in some of the stories says that he's conservative. I just don't think it to good thing but if you do that's fine. It wouldn't keep me from voting or not voting for Obama.Just because he's someone I don't know, like, or whatever. Only if he had picked Richardson then I would have sit at home and not voted. AJ
Mike

Aunt Jean,
37 years? That means your first vote was cast in a local election?
Local elections are almost NEVER polled. Usually only major metropolitan areas (jurisdictions approaching or more than 1 million in population), with a CLOSELY contested election, are polled.
People are polled in state and national elections more often than local elections, but again, almost exclusively when there is a close election.
Since you live in Texas, most elections there are NOT closely contested, and the likelihood of a poll being conducted is very, very slim.
As I stated, I have been polled, but only when there was a closely contested election. One time I was polled was when Congressman Kweisi Mfume resigned his seat to become head of the NAACP. The Democratic Primary had more than a dozen candidates and was closely contested. I was polled twice prior to that primary, but a lot of my neighbors also were polled. The last time I was polled was in 1996, for a Senate election that early on showed it might be contested. Once the polls were published, and they showed the election would NOT be close, there were no additional polls taken in the state that election cycle.
When you consider that a valid poll can involve as few as 500 people, what are the chances you will get one of those 500 phone calls when you live in a state with more than 20,000,000 population, and I live in a state with 5.5 million population? My chances of being polled are almost four times as many as yours, all other factors being equal. Add in that Maryland, as a general rule, has more contested elections than Texas, thus more polls are taken, and my chances of being polled increase again.
If you talk to people in New Hampshire or Iowa, many of them will tell you they get tired of being polled every four years. Why? Small state populations, and early in the primary schedule, thus lots and lots of polls.
As in real estate, the important factors are location, location, and location.
Mike
I doubt very many people have read the Sportsmen section on Obama's website:

He is such a humble, honest, and faithful man. I so want this ticket to win and more so for his sake.

Now that is a loooooong shot for McLame(brain)'s VP selection. This report may only be to stop Powell from endorsing Obama, as many are reporting Powell is considering.
Besides, he has a heightened fear of being assassinated if he were to be the first AA as President or Vice President.
And after the way he was used by the Bush administration in pushing for the Iraq War (especially the misinformation he was given for the UN presentation), I don't think he would have the stomach to be the running mate with 'how about 100 more years' McLame(brain).

I doubt that Powell story is true.

Also, I don't think Powell would want to go up against Obama - Powell likes Obama ;)

AJ
You are all hat and no cattle. You wanna step outside on step on me?
Well. I hope the Bidens can make some money. One of them should get together with a ghostwriter if necessary and write a book. $100,000 in net worth at their age is scary.
That's what comes from raising a bunch of kids and not taking graft.
If goggling is correct, Joe may be entitled to a pension of 80% or less of his salary. The salary is $169,300 (for both Senators and Representatives, I was surprised that Representatives got as much.)
And I assume the very nice Congressional health care plan continues into retirement, but I couldn't find that.
AJ, we self-select our friends. Most of mine voted for Hillary, and developed severe buyer's remorse over how she conducted her campaign, and became strong Obama supporters and are very happy about the Biden choice.
I think picking Colin Powell as McCain's VP would win him zero Democratic and few independent votes. It would have been different if he hadn't carried water of Bush with the Iraq lies. I find it a little hard to imagine Powell accepting the VP slot.
AJ, I'm not sure what you mean by 5 years between a man and a woman being a lot, as it applies to running for President. Usually when a woman and man are of equal ages in our society after a point the woman is considered an old bat and the guy is in the prime of his life.
So that would seem to work against Hillary, although of course she covers up her age well with the plastic surgery, which I am pretty sure we are not going to see Joe Biden indulging in.
24 hours later I am even happier with the Biden VP selection.
The silliness of the "HRC wasn't vetted" won't go away due to McCain, the MSM, and (that scum) James Carville.
They are saying that he didn't ask her for her records but most of us know that she would never release key records (e.g. donor's list) anyway. This goes back to Geraldine Ferraro whose VP nomination hurt the ticket and embarrassed her when her husband's financial ties were revealed. Obama was respectful enough to not ask for them thereby avoiding any embarrassment.
The McCain campaign is so low with their negative ads playing to fringe HRC devotees about whom they really don't care.
If he had chosen HRC, McCain had a different set of attack ads
1. Many, MANY negative things she said against him.
2. Exploiting vetting information to embarrass her.
3. Bill - impeachment and other personal issues
4. A claim that she should be #1 instead of #2 thereby appealing to her devotees
There is almost NOTHING they can do with Biden because he is squeaky clean and didn't say much against Obama or any of the other nominees.
Biden was a PERFECT selection
Karen Anne
show me one credible site that proves she's had plastic surgery. You won't because there's not one for the simple she hasn't had plastic surgery.
What I was talking about is woma live longer than men and most woman age better. Biden looks a lot over than Hillary yet there is only just shy of 5 yrs. between them.
Also I'm sorry but there is some Obama supporters on here that it wouldn't have mattered who he picked except Hillary that you would have said what a great pick.
I never said that I hated, disliked, or anything of that nature about Biden. All I said is he could have done better and the democrats that I spoke with said the same thing. also I said that he was kind of old and conservative.I don't think that constituent into saying I don't like him. I said he would do. Obama isn't my first pick either Hillary was. And by the way she still is [as president that is]
Saying that Hillary is more liberal is really funny considering that Obama and Hillary was the very arguement as to why I should vote for Obama. So are you saying that he's not even close to Hillary in his views THAT is quite funny. The problem is you want your cake and eat it too!!!! Plus a few others on here too.
As far as Hillary running a bad campaige well she did make mistake. More so because the media was so bias against. I know Obama supporters don't think that she did. I really don't care what you think they did. I know in a million years even if you knew that it was true you would never admit it. So don't bother denying it.
I'm not like you and a few others that keep putting you little digs in about how Hillary ran a bad campaign, she doesn't deserve help repaying her debts, she think she's intitled to the highest office. That is such BS. It gets so old you sound like a frigging broken record.
We are all democrats lets act like one and keep the childess out of it.Of course that inclues me.
One more thing and I will shut up. If a big Obama supporter said those things that I said about Biden nothing or at least not very much would have been said and please don't try and tell me that it's BS because I know that you know it's true. AJ
Karen Anne
there is one more thing that I would like to say and then I will drop it. Everyone on here gave Hillary Hell about voting for the Iraq invasion well I hate to break it to you but so did BIDEN. AJ
Mike
about your post at 3:13 am.
That's ok I try to stay out of cow patties. LOL AJ
AJ,
"Saying that Hillary is more liberal".. than Biden - I never said that.
The difference about the war votes is Biden admitted his vote was a mistake. Hillary still has not done so. Her inability to admit mistakes was another of the reasons she made me nervous as a potential President.
As to plastic surgery, here are before and after photos of Hillary -
http://www.makemeheal.com/news/hillary-clinton-plastic-surgery/200
Work on her entire face and neck, it looks like.
and Chelsea
http://www.goodplasticsurgery.com/archives/004880.html
It looks like Chelsea had work on her nose and teeth, as well as possibly on her eyelids and chin.
beryl,
Somewhere I saw that Clinton said she'd submit her records, but only if she were going to be chosen. Say what?
That's like someone applying for a job, and saying they'd take proficiency tests, but only if they were guaranteed the job, otherwise they didn't see why they had to put in the effort. I don't think so. (I actually had an applicant say something like that once.)
AJ
I was avidly against the war from the beginning so the reaction of our candidates was a sore point for me.
You are right about Biden voting for that godless war. His reaction to his vote was different from that of HRC. Like Edwards, he firmly stated that his vote was WRONG.
HRC's style was like this:
* I wish I'd not voted that way but we need to look at the President who got us into this situation.
* I voted correctly based on what we knew at the time.
That particular leadership style didn't set well with me and was the first thing that started me looking at other candidates. I suspect that others felt the same way.
At the end of the day, like you said, they both voted for the war.
suzi,
Glad your daughter had a good time.
Much better memories without blisters.
Another hard lesson I learned is when you learn how to horseback ride always put a thin coat of vaseline on your inner thighs and behind under your jeans for the first month. Those blisters are worse LOL.
jean
AJ,
The "conservative" vs. "liberal" tag is more about how people perceive them than how they actually vote. McCain was considered a "liberal" or "moderate" Senator for years, despite the fact that his voting record was of a staunch conservative.
Biden has much the same record. Many conservative voters have the perception that he is more conservative than he actually is. If you follow the one link I provided, he has voted with the Democrats on almost every major issue. One of the only exceptions was the Iraq War Authorization bill. As mentioned previously, he has admitted that was a mistake. He admitted it was a mistake not too long after the vote either.
Karen Anne
about the liberal I was wrong on that.
About the plastic surgery that is BS PROVE she and Chelsea had it. Now do you really think they could cover that up [how foolish]. People do change with age. Better make up, clothes, hairdresser, and etc. Some of you people live in a dream world where if you can't find something you will make it up.
Also I guess you and several more people on here didn't listen to Hillarys debate speech. SHE SAID THAT IT WAS A MISTAKE ABOUT IRAQ..... Is that loud enough that you heard it CLEAN OUT YOUR EARS.OR TURN YOUR HEARING AIDS UP. AJ
Karen Anne,
We were responding similarly on the same subject! Funny!
On vetting
"Somewhere I saw that Clinton said she'd submit her records, but only if she were going to be chosen. Say what?"
Yes, that is disconcerting. I suspect what you read is true because we know that the Clintons were unwilling to release a donor list. HRC must remember what happened to Geraldine when she was selected for VP and was preparing for it. If she let all records out, she wanted to KNOW that she would be the VP.
(It is sad when husbands mess up their wives' chances to succeed. I HOPE Cindy does John the same favor!)
All of Obama's decisions must be fair and ethical. If Obama had made that kind of deal, I would question his judgment and value system. Judgment is his strongest attribute so he cannot risk compromising that.
Also, the Repugs would jump all over him if he had agreed to it. He'd be accused of preferential treatment and they'd make a case that his administration would be marred with "cronyism" and favoritism.
He was wise not to request her records under those circumstances, if what you read is true. Instead, he showed her the respect by not asking for those records.
James Carville knows what went down and instead of unifying the party, he is saying that HRC wasn't vetted. Shame on him!
pretty sure that the McCain-Colin Powell thing is total baseless rumor. Powell supports Obama, and I'm pretty sure he is finished with Washington.
McCain & Co are just trying to stir up excitement for their candidate. Good luck with that!! I was talking to my dad yesterday, and we both agree that Romney is pretty bland.
By picking Biden, Obama becomes more palatable to those who are closer to the middle than he is.
McCain can either pick someone who appeals to the base (is more conservative than he is), or someone closer to the middle (it would have to be a Democrat, almost).
I really don't think that McCain has a good option waiting in the wings. Lieberman? naaaaah it would piss off the lifelong Republicans. They don't trust Lieberman, is my guess.
The governor of Louisiana? maybe - it gives McCain balance with youth and adds the ethnic element, and that guy is also an attack dog. But I don't think McCain needs an attack dog, he pretty much has that one covered. Unless he wants to soften up his (McCains) own personal message and leave the attacking to his VP candidate.
Romney? as exciting as oatmeal.
Huckabee? that would rile up a lot of traditional republicans, although he is an awfully charismatic guy.
Beryl
she said that she voted for it based on the misinformation that was given. But like you said they both voted for it. AJ
btw, it has been pointed out on other sites as well as here:
The REPUBLICANS are actively stirring up trouble, by bringing up issues that tend to divide the party. As someone (D.S., this is attributed to you!) said on the Obama website, I would rather have an honest, hardworking individual in the White House, than the three-headed monster that currently resides there. And McCain is the continuation of that monster.
Friends don't let friends vote Republican!!
AJ,
You are right, she did admit the vote was a mistake. It just took a longer time for her. Again, it is a style thing. That particular leadership style doesn't set well with some people (like me).
I don't want to revisit the primaries but I also don't want the perception that I didn't hear HRC during the debates. I listened to her intently and decided based on her own words and deeds.
Vicki
By picking Biden, Obama becomes more palatable to those who are closer to the middle than he is.
Now someone that I can understand the reasoning behind the pick. Thank you Vicki. Now I think Obama picked him because that could be possible. AJ
AJ, and it forces McCain to decide: appeal to his base, or appeal more to the middle? and McCain is surprisingly close to the middle. And a lot of Republicans don't trust McCain, surprisingly enough - he is viewed as too much of a maverick. Republicans like to have someone who toes the party line pretty consistently. And he doesn't do that. My guess is that he HAS to appeal to the base by picking someone really conservative: thus potentially alienating those middle of the road voters that he also desperately needs.
interesting. it's like chess. Obama made his move, and in all the hoopla of the convention, let's not lose our laser-like focus on what McCain's next move is.
Beryl
I guess what gets me the most is everybdy is taking this crap as fact ["Somewhere I saw that Clinton said she'd submit her records, but only if she were going to be chosen. Say what?"
It came from someone that wasn't even willling to admit who they were so is it true or false. I guess we will never know.. It just gets me because everyone is so willing to believe everything someone says about Hillary if it's neg. in anyway. THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT!!!!!!!!!!!! AJ
AJ, just assume that that sort of info comes from Republicans trying to stir up stuff. Because nine times out of ten, it IS.
Beryl
at that debate personal I thought she did a wonderful job!But like you I really don't want to visit it. AJ
Vicki
I'm with you on that. AJ
Hahaha... MSNBC is stating that a VP can do more harm than good. I swear they're reading my posts.
What I'd like to see HRC do is sit down like she did in NH and shed some tears.
She should state how she cares about the country and doesn't want to see our sons and daughters killed in other senseless and deceptive wars. She needs to express her concerns that women will die because of illegal abortions once Roe vs Wade is overturned.
If she really did care back in NH, she should still care.
pissed, they ARE. trust me on this. ix-nay on the ighting-fay. SOMEONE is reading this stuff. I've seen stuff said here too many times, then turn up in the MSM later on. Also, I see "the website Demconwatch" referenced in the WSJ and other sources.

snacks! now you are talking my language!
jalepeno poppers are easy, but wear rubber gloves to make them: just halve the jalepenos, scoop out the seeds (that's where the HOT lives), fill them with cream cheese, and wrap with bacon/secure w/ toothpick. you can make a pile of them in advance, and then grill them.
I first had these out in the rockies, and we tried baking them, but the whole altitude/baking problem made them take forever! so I suggest grilling them, on LOW, for maybe about 10-20 minutes. Mine get a little charred at 20, so check them frequently starting at around 10 minutes.
there are some great recipe sites out there, these came from the pioneer woman site, I think.

dang, those cheese muffins look DEEVINE. I hate looking at this website. I always wind up gaining weight!! LOL!
beryl,
chicken kabobs are easy.
Make sure the meat is no larger than 1 inch and marinade them in italian dressing.
Takes 20 minutes on the grill.
Add veggies to look pretty;)
You can do these days before.
jean
beryl,
I learned from experience LOL.
Rinsing your hands with rubbing alcohol afterwards will take care of any areas that you did touch with the jalepenos without gloves.
Thank you ap!
jean
Great ideas!
(Gosh, I wished I cooked!)
I love cooking. I love hostessing! but there is a "do" on Thursday up the hill from me that I was going to go to. I might make those cheese muffins to take!
btw, you can always ask other people to bring stuff, too.
(I work Wed night, ppppfth)
For those who do not cook.
2 can of arichoke hearts cut up.
1 cup of mayo.
3/4 cup of shredded parmesian.
Mix in bowl.
Put in casserole dish,it will cover 1 inch deep.
Bake for 20 to 30 minutes and serve with triscuits.
They think you really did something;)
When you are 60 years old you don't lose your wrinkles by taking nap!
I understand that the Hillary supporters support her in all things but come on, this is ridiculous! Of course she has had a face lift and botox too! Women's faces don't drop 10-15 years of wear by magic.
As far as her not handing over her medical records, Clinton Library donor list, etc. unless she had an iron clad agreement for the VP slot - that is very believable. Besides I still think she was not able to work out a deal with Obama from the start and there is also the Clinton lawsuit that coming up for trial in October - too much that the Republicans could have used against the Obama ticket.
WHY is everyone still talking about the Clintons? Hillary is OUT of the race.
OBAMA/BIDEN '08
beryl,
veggies with dips. (celery sticks, radishes, "baby" carrots, etc.) You can just buy dips and even prepared veggies for this.
small cookies (why do most places make only giant cookies) from the bakery.
beryl-Doesn't Quizno's also got a deal going on in your area? I hear they're usually better than Subway. I've seen for myself Subway is pretty skimpy on their portions.
snacks-stuffed mushrooms
capped mushrooms
crumbled cooked bacon(turkey)
cream cheese(at least 16oz.)
preheat oven to 350
mix cream cheese and bacon together
fill centers of mushrooms
bake about 15 min.
*this is not a high altitude recipe
bake at
Actually, I'm a little envious of Clinton's "work." I am too chicken to ever have an optional procedure, but she really found someone who did a good job.
leah,
I am not putting fuel to the fire.
We need their votes,HRC supporters, to win.
Hopefully during the Dem convention this can be done.
At least I feel this is not a slam dunk.
jean
suzi,
Looks good.
I also forgot to add that a small can of diced green chiles, mild, adds a little kick to what I posted.
jean
beryl-I don't know how the bake at got to the bottom of my post...or...
raw asparagus(rinsed)
cream cheese
deli meat slices
just spread cream cheese on the top of asparagus
wrap strips of any kind of deli meat around them
cut into servings and spear them with toothpicks
yummy and healthy and no cooking
"WHY is everyone still talking about the Clintons? Hillary is OUT of the race."
Because the MSM, McCain, and Carville are talking about them.
MSM - they need to keep conflict going to increase ratings. They are giving McCain free ad time under the guise of a newsworthy story.
McCain ads - McCain doesn't give a flying fig newton about HRC. His "poor Hillary" ads effectively incite her most avid supporters. I only wish her sincere supporters (not the crazies and the racists) would recognize that they are being duped. They need to think about the horrible ads the Repugs would have used to humiliate and defeat her if she was the nominee or the VP. Once again, McCain does NOT care about HRC or her supporters!
Carville - He is a bitter old toad who is doing NOTHING to help the Democratic Party. He needs to get back on his lily pond. Rrribbet!!
beryl,
Absolutely no doubt.
The question is how the Obama campaign is going to handle damage control and how HRC is going to handle it.
They need to work together soon.
jean
Beryl,
I have 4 appetizers that I usually provide at my parties (and usually take one or two to parties I attend.)
------Stuffed cherry tomatoes
1. Cut of the rounded part of the cherry tomato so that the base (where the stem is attached) will hold the tomato upright, and then gut out the centers (with our pinky).
2. Finely chopped up crab meat (with a food processor - you can use imitation crab meat) mix in ranch dressing and black pepper
3. Stuff the cherry tomatoes.
-----Mushroom caps
1. De-stem mushrooms
2. Stuff with stove top stuffing (made with chicken broth and not water)
3. Sprinkle Parmesan chese on top
4. Bake at 350 for about 5-10 minutes (as to not overcook the mushrooms)
-----Broccoli Cheese puffs (YUM - if you don't mind deep fried foods)
1. melt cheddar and pepperjack cheese in sauce pan.
2. add in broccoli (I usually use frozen)
3. dip in egg, then flour, back in egg, and then in bread crumbs (this skin keeps the cheese from coming out of the concoction).
4. deep fry until golden brown
-----this one is my favorite but is very time consuming.
They are all time consuming BUT always party favorites (most people like them even more than chips and the 7 layer dip)
But in case you would like to do corn chips and the 7 layer dip
1. Refried beans
2. Guacamole
3. Sour cream
4. Cheddar cheese
5. Chopped Green onions
6. Chopped tomatoes
7. Chopped Black olives
Jean here is what I suggest for both. I think Obama is doing everything possible without appearing weak.
Obama
Praise HRC every opportunity - Check
Have a roll call at the convention - Check
Schedule 2 separate nights at the convention featuring the Clintons - Check
Pick a VP who is congruent with HRC positions - Check
Encourage the VP to praise HRC at every opportunity
Clintons
Endorse Obama - Check for HRC only
Endorse his VP choice - Check for HRC only
Stump for the ticket every day - Check for HRC only
Before the roll call - both switch their OWN delegate votes for Obama and passionately ask all of HRC supporters to do the same.
Passionately speak to the country this week in support of Obama/Biden
------------
Today on CNN, one of the HRC spokespersons (I forgot that guy's name) put the "help HRC retire her debt" issue to bed today (Thank God!). He said that they are not looking for Obama supporters to think about that any more. Yay!!
iv dave-I'm going to keep your broccoli recipe in mind and just sub for the pepper cheese. I'm a wimp! :)
suzi, that's the reason for mixing the two cheeses, this way you just get a little zip to spice it up a little bit without being overwhelming. If you just use cheddar it is a little bland. :)
HRC has been saying for a while that she is not considering her personal contributions as a loan, so that's been a moot point anyway. check :)
iv dave-Bland is my middle name. I've almost got an ulcer. I'll use some other cheese in addition to the cheddar and add a bit of garlic. No worries!
LOL suzi! Garlic would be a nice added touch. I haven't thought about that. I'll have to try it next time. ;)
leah,
I agree with what you posted.
I also think that Obama should be very specific in her place for his goverment.
She is good and will be very helpful.
Somehow HRC needs to be specific also without pissing off her supporters. I honestly thinks she is the key and yes she can totally blow it.
The only word I can think of right now is to make sure no "disrespect"
is shown by Obama or HRC.
I do not think HRC has shown disrespect but some of her supporters have.
Obama has not but the media is having a field day.
The #1 person on the line is HRC right now and yes Bill.
Everyone is way ready to throw stones and many refuse to acknowledge the complexity of this.
jean
Indy,
Really like the Broc appetizers and yes I have a Deep Fryer (Love it, use Canola Oil so it is not That Bad;)
For some reason I think you have a whole lot more recipes.
jean
Hillary should say at the convention to her supporters something like "John McCain is trying to dupe my supporters and use them to defeat Senator Obama's and my agenda for a better America - and it is not going to work. The Republicans don't care about my supporters or their issues that affect everyday American's lives - Shame on YOU John McCain - blah blah blah...
Betcha all this hoopla that McCain is doing with the anti-Obama Hillary ad is going to bite McCain in the butt!
Obama/O'Biden 'O8
jean, LOL, ya I do, but those are all the favorites (and yes, Bill helps out too - we have a true 50/50 partnership).
I used to help my step-mother in her catering business as a teenager (before I came out of the closet).
leah, that would be awesome!
She should say something to the effect that Congress and the American people were duped by the Bush administration in order to garner support for the Iraq war, and now McCain is trying to do the same thing with her supporters.
The seven layer dip is great. Heavy on the guacamole and sour cream.
iv,
What does catering have to do with being in or out of the closet? (Feel free to say none of my business :-)
Karen Anne - Since I came out of the closet I have almost zero contact with my father and step-mother. I speak to some of my step-siblings but that is about it.
indy,
Truely asking a favor.
I cook with a lot of chix breast.
I am getting bored and so is the family.
Suggestions, willing to take time.
Chix Parm.
Tortilla Soup
Caesar Salad
Chix Gumbo
Grilled Chix Breast
Chix kabobs
That is what I have.
I know i am asking a lot.
jean
Jean, do you mind fattening? And I mean VERY fattening.
indy,
I have two teenagers who need to gain 10lbs for one and 30lbs for the other for sports. There BMI is negative and I swear I cook full meals everyday.
PLEASE!
I don't think you can get a negative BMI.
I was listening to some nut woman this morning on FoxNews ranting about how much air time Obama got on MSNBC yesterday prior to, during, and after the Obama-Biden rally. She was very upset and said that the media is covering Obama too much! LOL :)
It has really gotten ridiculous with all the STUPID things that have been said in this election like: Obama is looking too presidential, Obama's speeches are too good, Obama has too many supporters, Obama is too inspiring, Obama is too intelligent, Obama is getting too much press, etc. etc....
People are insane if they can't see that Obama IS the right choice to be our next president!
Obama/O'Biden 'O8
jean-Maybe you could add more carbs that are high in fiber? Sweet potatoes in your gumbo? Make croutons with whole wheat bread and season with a salt-free seasoning? Bananas is one of the higher calorie fruits as a snack between those nummy meals. Brown rice with your chix breast?
Ok Jean, it's actually quite simple. Make a casserole consisting of chicken breasts (cut into thin strips - kind of annoying to do, but it works best).
Fry up the chicken in a skillet so that you make sure it is cooked. Add in red and green peppers, black olives, if you want, or what else you want in there. I also like to add garlic salt just to add flavor. But you can add in whatever you want.
Use layering - like you would lasagna.
Layer 1. Uncooked Corn tortillas (cut into squares so they fit in the casserole dish.
Layer 2. Chicken concoction.
Layer 3. NACHO cheese so it isn't bland (I usually get a huge can from smart and final so I can make two casserole dishes of it at the same time.)
And then repeat the layering until you are at the top of the casserole dish (usually 2-3 layers). You can use the "cut off" edges of the corn tortillas to fill in the holes toward the top of the casserole.
Make sure your very last layer is nacho and then bake at 350 for about 30 minutes (the nacho cheese will develop a slightly "browned" top so).
KIDS LOVE IT (especially if they like nachos)! And
Jean,
ice cream is really fattening.
iv, I'm sorry...
Karen Anne - it's all good. I'm totally ok with it. I have my family now. ;)

ap,
I was being sarcastic.
One is 5'9" 121lbs and the other is 6'2" 139lbs and they have 2 double cheeseburgers as snacks in beween meals.
Let us just say the husband and i are doing fine.
jean
Did anyone watch Meet the Press this morning?
Did Nancy Pelosi not look like her face was wound a little tight this morning?
I hate this woman. I'm done with MSNBC for the day. These terrible interviews are starting to piss me off. Time to watch movies.
Jean,
The BMI is a terrible indicator.
Read this article:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/main.jhtml?xml=/fashion/2007/07/22/st_diet22.xml&page=1
I would put them on a high protein and high carb diet and send them to the gym. Don't increase the fat or the sugar content of their diet. That's how they end up 100 pounds overweight as soon as they get out of college and stop playing sports.
ROFLMAO - McCain uses his POW "experience" to defend houses. LMAO!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/24/mccain-himself-uses-pow-e_n_120927.html
suzi,
Part of the reason why I am so popular is because the kids know I always have food and am still cooking 24/7
We only have whole grains in the house and go thru 8-10lbs of bannanas a week.
We also go thru 2 large tubs of ice cream a week(gave up on the good stuff, to expensive).
Thanks Indy,
Going to Costco, nothing new,
and that is what we are having for dinner, two casserole dishes;)
My food bill sucks.
jean
leah-What if were to guess that Obama/Biden gets 51.5% of the popular vote?
p'd ant - the woman on MSNBC is GONE! Hardball is coming on now.
jean - sounds good. But UGH! I'm sure the food bill sucks! I remember my years as a teenager (shut up p'd ant) and I remember the hell my mother went through having to provide food for us (at least until I turned 16 - when I got a job and pitched in).
LOL Dave!!!
You're behind!!!
We already discussed him using that to defend the houses and to defend not being in the cone of silence last week. You have been neglecting your blogging duties buddy!
Maybe if you spent a little less time in the kitchen. In my house we know that's woman's work.
VBG
JUST KIDDING! Don't kill me ladies!
jean-gotcha :)
Oh, come on suzi! Be a little more optimistic than that! Why not go with 100%.....LMAO
Lol @ apis!
I was thinking the same thing. I already turned to HGTV (Divine Design).
In a couple of hours I'm going to a local gathering hosted by Ed Shultz (radio guy).
ap,
I'm with ya.
The cheeseburgers are around the square meals and int the summer and with school starting there is now no time.
That is also why I like the chix breast and not red meat.
Though they do like that steak.
Doctor said the son could be 6'11 and the daughter should be done.
They burn between 6000-8000 a day with training and growing and developing. One because of basketball and the other baseball and growing.
I will be poor from food bills for a long time.
But they are a lot of fun;)
jean
Hardball - Thanks for the tip!
I love Chris' comment on the Repug's "crocodile tears" ad. That was great!
ROFLMAO p'd ant! Oh trust me - Bill doesn't get away with not helping!
As far as the McCain thing - prior to today it was his campaign that was using his POW status to defend his houses remark, but today it was HIM directly using it.
By the way - the reason I wasn't on last night was because we went out and picked out the new furniture for the bedroom (by the way he LOVED that I had everything done before he got home on Wednesday). It will be delivered tomorrow. And then we went out for dinner and drinks (we didn't go out on Friday....he was tired.)
Indy,
the husband is kind of a natural food guy.
Making home made cheese sauce would work?
jean
jean,
Not that he's the best example in the world, but Michael Vick had problems with being too skinny when he started high school sports. His coach put him on a very intensive training program involving a lot of weight lifting and leg workouts. He filled out very well and became a great athlete... though remained a terrible human being.
If he is already over six foot, he should be able to start filling out by now. I always assumed I was going to be scrawny my whole life, and I started working out a few times a week in high school and gained 10 pounds in a month. No change in my diet at all.
No problem beryl.
peevish-Somebody at work just used that phrase. He got to be reminded of taking out trash and mopping...
Dave,
I'm just glad you showed enough class not to comment on me using the word "behind" with you. ;)
Jean, of course. You can make it however you want, but remember the corn tortillas may not come out the same way. If you know of a way to make it similar to that of nacho cheese I'm sure it would work good. (I would definitely throw in some pepperjack though)
WOW! Did they not just say O-49% JM-43%
Hardball is great. They brought out HRC's rebuttal on the ad too. That MSNBC woman earlier could have made all of these points even without HRC's rebuttal. Heck, we made that point on this blog!
This convention coverage is getting me jazzed. I just might use my credentials and see Obama on Thursday!
Forget about work next week -- I might just camp out downtown.
lol soft,
My wife likes to mow the lawn, I don't fight her on it. I like cooking, but the wife fights me on that... my wife just wants to do everything apparently. I'm naturally lazy, she'll have to learn to not volunteer for work and kick me in the butt or she'll go crazy. =)
I do most of my "work" from my bed or from my desk, that whole "moving" thing never sat well with me. Makes me sweat.
ap,
We have been doing that for 3 months and doc said 8 inches in 1 year again. He was only 5'6" at the beginning of last year.
Doc said we are kinda screwed but it will even out.
Husband played football in college and was 6'5" at 165lbs, sophmore.
Yes he was a reciever.
Just trying to work with the gene pool LOL.
jean
ROFLMAO jean! I'm going to delete my last comment to p'd ant! Those two comments (mine and yours about your husband being a "receiver", just don't go well together.)

Darn it Dave!
LOL! I missed your comment!
I love this O'Bama reference since Biden was selected. It is funny. Their comparison with JFK was also mentioned by a German diplomat on CNN this AM. He said that Obama tilted his head like JFK when he spoke.
A French diplomat was also on the show and he talked about how much all of Europe is in love with Obama.
LOL DAVE!!!!!!

ROFL Suzi! How funny.
That poor woman! Chris Matthews is just giving her hell by questioning her about why she is undecided.
Beryl-
Obama has some Irish in him on his mother's side of the family. Around St.Patricks Day there were O'bama t-shirts and signs.
And then yesterday it was pretty funny yesterday when Chris Matthews yesterday several times said: O'Biden :)
But no one yesterday mentioned anything about them BOTH having Irish heritage - that I heard.
Now Rendell is whining -
http://thepage.time.com/2008/08/24/ladies-and-gentleman-the-coverage-of-barack-obama-was-embarrassing/
No word in the media giving McSame a free pass, though.
I am not as nice as Obama. I would do payback for this stuff. I wonder if they don't expect that?
When in the hell is Buchanan going to learn how to say Putin's last name? It's pronounce POOTIN! NOT PEWTIN!
Watching Hardball right now...
I predict Pat Buchanan will have either a stroke or heart attack before the end of the convention if he keeps it up like he is today!
Indy -
Hahaha... I heard him say Pewtin too :)
I really really dislike Pat Buchanan.
It's time for the pundits to stop talking about HRC because they are fueling the fire and people are going to start rioting there in Denver!
And they need to start saying 'The Obama Supporters' not 'the Obama fans! Grrr...
Every time someone says Obama fans it sounds like a McCain ad!
O and Joe 'O8
I just saw how somebody called McCain His Royal McPOWness...on the Jed Report. lol
Rendell is embarrassing himself.
He slams MSNBC for bias for Obama but doesn't slam FOX for their anti-Obama coverage.
What about ABC's George Steph's questions coming directly for Hannity?
If Obama loses this election, history will not going to be kind to these people. Rendell is getting up in age. He doesn't have a lot of time to reset his legacy if he ruins it now.
They were talking earlier on MSNBC about 'if Obama loses this year, Clinton will want to run in 2012' .. but that is NOT going to work because she would need all of Obama's folks to win..... lot's of people out there that are delusional.
BREAKING NEWS...
MSNBC- Hillary will meet with her delegates Wednesday and will RELEASE THEM.
Leah, I agree with you 100%. If ANYONE thinks that come 2012 and Obama is not the president, and the Democratic Party has to go through this primary process again, there is no way that Obama's 18+ million primary voters would vote for HRC. I'm sorry to say it to AJ, but it is the truth. Obama's supporters do not have the short memory span that everyone says they believe.
It is MY firm opinion that HRC missed her opportunity in 2004. I was actually one of those who was trying to draft her for president at that time. I didn't like John Kerry, but had to settle for him in the general. I personally voted for Edwards in the primary (2004) despite Kerry being the presumptive nominee.
This is for everyone
THERE IS NO PROOF THAT HILLARY OR CHELSEA HAS HAD PLASTIC SURGERY OR THAT SHE SAID THAT IF SHE WAS THE VP PICK THEN AND ONLY THEN CAN YOU SEE ALL MY RECORDS. IT'S SOMEONE ON THE RECORDS PART THAT WOULDN'T EVEN GIVE THEIR NAME. SO ARE THEY LIEING IT SEEMS TO ME IF YOU ARE TELLING THE TRUTH YOU WOULD TELL PEOPLE YOUR NAME.
AS FAR AS THE PLASTIC THAT IS ALL SPECTATION. YOU HAVE NO WHERE TO GO TO PROVE THAT SO THAT IS ALL IT IS. SHE COULD HAVE HAD BOTOX THAT IS NOT PLASTIC SURGERY. AJ
Releasing her delegates is the smart thing for HRC to do. That puts her back into the driver's seat. It also it is one of the best things she could do to ensure an Obama win now which enables her or her daughter to win the WH in the future.
2 scenarios if Obama doesn't win in 2008:
1. If she overturns this primary decision, she will still lose in 2008. The youth and minorities will not vote for her. She needs the minority vote because no Dem has gotten the majority of the white vote since LBJ. Back then, there was a larger percentage of whites in the country.
2. 2012: If Obama loses in 2008 and she runs in 2012 she loses because she will be blamed for the 2008 loss. The same demographics will not support her.
The best thing for her is to sincerely support Obama and get him into the WH. She can then run in 2012 and have a better chance of winning.
AJ, That was a little late. I didn't realize that part of the conversation was still taking place.
AJ
The Clintons had no plastic surgery. Neither Hillary nor her daughter wears makeup. They don't even dye their hair. They naturally look like that when they emerge from their shower.
Feel better? Good.
Sheesh! Why do you care if someone believes they had work done? It isn't that important.
Obama-Biden Obama-Biden Obama-Biden Obama-Biden Obama-Biden Obama-Biden Obama-Biden Obama-Biden Obama-Biden '08
Beryl-
But in 2012 Obama will have been president for almost four years.
I can't see her being able to run against 'President Obama' - he will have presidential experience (and she will not).
Leah
You are right but she'll still have a better chance of winning if she was instrumental in getting him into the WH in 2008. She also could be VP.

What is up with Cindy denying that she has siblings? When are we getting all of her tax returns? That woman has some real skeletons in her closet.
Geraldine Ferraro was done in by her husband's tax returns -- why aren't we applying the same standard to McFlipper?

Beryl-
The way I hear it is that McPOW and Cindy signed an agreement before they married that her income/inheritance/property would not be his... so she is saying she doesn't have to show her documents.
I don't think the American people are going to go along with that!
Leah,
I don't see any signs that people are demanding Cindy's financial info, because the MSM is ignoring that stuff, except for an article here and there.
I think her Dad's gangster connection, without which apparently his business would not have succeeded, is amazing, but you hardly see that written about.
Beryl
I will have to disagree Fox was propable the only network that did a half way unbias job but even they were bias against Hillary. I know that you and everyone else will disagree with me strongly but it's true. AJ
Beryl
everytime you compare Obama to JFK I want scream they are nothing alike except they are both men. AJ
AJ, I have told you before, until the Iowa primary, ALL of the media was in the bag for Hillary. This includes Donna Brazile. They all but had her coronated her as the nominee until Obama won the Iowa caucus. Plain and simple. And then when she came back in NH (and won) they pretty much were equal between the media. They had people going back and forth from both campaigns. And then in February when Obama ran away in the caucus' and primaries, and Clinton started her kitchen sink strategy (much like McCain is using now) is when the MSM switched over to Obama.
After all, there IS a reason CNN used to be referred to as the Clinton News Network.
That's ALL I will say about Hillary Clinton.
AJ,
May be you should scream at Caroline and Teddy Kennedy and all of Europe. It is not only Beryl who is comparing Obama with JFK. Most people are comparing them because they both had the ability to inspire many people at home and abroad.
Just because YOU don't see the similarity, that doesn't mean that others do not.
I agree that they are different in that Obama is Protestant, is not cheating on his wife, and did not spend as much time in the US Senate.
Oh yeah, Obama is 1/2 black.
Dave
I'm sorry I just don't get where you think the networks were for Hillary. They weren't. AJ
Leah and Dave your posts at 2:22 and 2:24 I agree with you two whole heartly. AJ
I am sure that there are many people that don't see the JFK/Obama connection (Republicans, some Hillary supporters, and even some Obama supporters), but I do see it.
I haven't felt inspired by a president since JFK at all until now with Senator Obama.
O and Joe '08
Dave
what gets me with that last statment is the fact if Obama didn't win it would be Hillarys fault that is WRONG!!!!!!!!! AJ
Idiot Shep on FoxNews just gave out poll info but didn't really say it right.
70+% people said that Obama picking Biden will have no affect on them to vote for Obama - 14% yes... and he made it sound like Biden wasn't helping Obama.
It's because those 70% are voting for Obama - and probably those people would still vote for Obama no matter what even if he picked Mickey Mouse ;)
Those pundits can spin anything!
Okay... it doesn't matter anymore about the media coverage on Hillary, sexist statements, why she lost, or anything else. All the news media have had their love affair with Hillary and with Obama and they all bashed both of them at different times during the race.
The primaries are over - it is now past history.
O and Joe '08
AJ, then you weren't paying attention very closely over the summer or fall of last year. I've been following this race since the end of 2006. (Although I've been following Obama's career since his 2002 speech where he spoke out against the Iraq war. We were visiting friends in Chicago when he gave that speech. And we were in the crowd.)
One more similarity...
Obama will be the first incumbent senator to be elected president since JFK.
Who says Obama doesn't have a sense of humor-

This is all he has to say to get Mike's vote. LOL :D
