Sources are reporting that American icon and favorite general, Secretary of State and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff himself, Colin Powell will likely endorse Barack Obama at the DNC convention in Denver.
Officially, Powell's people have not confirmed the news - but he has hinted at backing Obama earlier this year.
Not that a Joe Lieberman speech at the RNC had much appeal to begin with, but it's hard not to chuckle at the irony as the Republican game of "gotcha" just turned on the GOP.
Say...maybe this news will make McCain so desperate that he decides to dust-off Zell Miller for a repeat appearance. We should be so lucky - SPEETBAWLS!
Update: A Powell spokesman denies any convention appearance, but leaves open the possibility of a future endorsement. - TPM Election Central
