Beryl! I was thinking of exactly the same thing! Thanks for making the suggestion!

I use some mind-mapping software that can create the kind of diagram you suggest. Since I am not an "expert" on McCain past associations I was trying to think of a way to make a public document that people could add to/edit--the program I use isn't open source...

Someone will take this up, I'm sure, and create a youtube vid that walks everyone through the diagram. :)

Ok, question. Everyone KNOWS that Friday's are usually "news dump" days right? (This is when "bad" news is purposely thrown out on a Friday by a campaign as to not have the 24/7 news cycle running a story over and over and over.) Well with tomorrow being the date that the "troopergate" investigation findings are supposed to be made public, do you guys believe that it is better to get the findings out there tomorrow or should they wait until Monday as to make sure it hits all the news cycles for at least the day (if not all week)?

I guess it would depend on how the market is tomorrow.

Glad Bill's that he full and sound to sleep but after his med. no wonder! hahahaha.

As far as the B12 drops verses the B12 shots the drops are not very effective. Alittle but not much the shots are much better and a lot more effective.

As far as the babysitting it went well but she wore me out. She's very active like I said. She's also a little ham so needless to say I laughed a lot.But I'm glad the day is over with. AJ

Beryl,

I think you can give up all hope of getting a lawn sign.

I wanted one because there's a putrid pink Women for McCain/Palin sign on a main road where I live, and I asked about the rumors I'd heard that they were very hard to get, shipped after long delays, and specifically would I get one before the election, and the answer was not likely.

She said the campaign was not emphasizing people having lawn signs.

I dunno why not, people like to have them, and surely they could charge enough to at least break even. They could hire some company to handle this.

One of the worse things McStupid did during the Town Hall debate was to assume a young man never heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. That young man (Oliver Clark) is speaking out:

"Well Senator, I actually did. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person. I have a bachelor degree in Political Science from Tennessee State, so I try to keep myself up to date with current affairs. I have a Master degree in Legal Studies from Southern Illinois University, a few years in law school, and I am currently pursuing a Master in Public Administration from the University of Memphis."

Discussion?

Presuming Senator Obama wins (not too far fetched - VBG), how should he select Cabinet nominees under the following scenarios:

Should he nominate Dem Senators:

1. If the Dems have 60 seats (w/Saunders, w/o LIEberman), or 61 Senate (without LIEberman) if

a. Only if the Senator is from a state with a Democratic governor, the 'replacement' will BE a Dem (Gov is Dem and/or state law says 'replacement' Senator must be of the same party);

b. Even if the Senator who is nominated will be replaced by a Rep (example would be if Bayh were nominated, he almost certainly would be replaced by a Rep - not saying Bayh would be nominated for anything, just using him as an example).

Or

2. Dems get a majority of 56+, but not the 'magic 60' to stop filibusters:

a. Same as 'a' above;

b. Same as 'b' above.

I've been thinking of the possibilities and problems, but haven't yet really come up with an answer to either possibility.

1.a. would be a lot easier to live with than 1.b.

Should 1.b. even be considered?

What are the drawbacks of 2.b. (besides a bit smaller Dem majority in the Senate)?

Are there any Cabinet positions where you would consider a sitting Dem Senator to be the 'only' possible nominee?

Mike

Karen Anne said...

Being able to stop filibusters is crucial. The lack of that ability plus the Bush vetoes is why a lot of legislation has not gotten thru up to now.

So I don't think any Democratic Senate seats should be given up unless the replacement is going to be Democratic.

You can always find someone else for a Cabinet position.

I will be liveblogging and Twittering throughout the event to try and provide some comic relief for the whole mess, and if I can lay in enough SD cards, might consider taping parts of the event for posterity.

I’m willing to put my body and my sanity on the line for Barack Obama. Will you do your small part by donating to help make this possible?

Good morning everybody. I'm at home today, but not to my own choosing. The company I work for is being heavily affected by the Boeing stike. Boeing makes up about 60% our business. Therefore, many of us have been forced to work 4-day weeks. Accrued vacation days help with that 5th day, and some have opted to 1-day a week unemployment to keep from using their vacation days. One of our sister companies in California have laid off 40% of their work force. Hopefully the talks that finally started this week at Boeing will come to some type of an agreement very, very soon. Vacation days and unemployment only last for so long.

Sorry this is such a gloomy post:

The situation is more than at a critical point in America and the World. More people will be finding the pinch of the economy hitting them personally. If you are fortunate, you will be able to keep your job and make ends meet until the economy turns around, but when a company's stock that was at $100 a share this year has dropped to under $20 a share, it hits retirement accounts and 401k's. If you don't have to touch those accounts you will be ok, but if you loose your job or are retiring, you have to do something with those accounts, and that means losing a ton of $$$.

The 200 year old company that I currently work for has recieved a foriegn investment worth 20-25% of the company and is being rumored in Merger talks. The CEO & CFO have been holding Town Halls almost everyday to calm folks down, but they even mention the need to cut costs and have been taking steps to outsource more of the work. I'm a luck one to have a Military Retirement and Disability check to fall back on, but the rumors are killing peoples productiveness - and it's the people and their work ethic that had made this company strong. I even have staff starting to go to counceling because they are feeling hopeless. It's not pretty.

Bush & Cheney should have been impeached a long time ago, now we all will have to pay for their inaction and ignorance.

I just hope everyone on here can survive the next 6-9 months. It will take that long for things to start to turn around.

They were afraid to call it a recession, now we have entered a world depression. It's going to be a rocky road. If you have money and have time, it's about to be a good oppertunity to secure your future. Some won't be so lucky.

Doug said...

Emit, I feel for you and the situation your company is in, and I am sure your story is being repeated all over the US. I have worked at a company that was slowly going under and it had the feeling of being on the Titantic--helpless and hopeless.

But... things are going to turn around. The IMF predicts world growth will be the lowest it has been in many years... only about 3% worldwide. What is distinctly different from the 1930's is the percentage of the world economy represented by the US and Europe. China and India in particular are large economies, and will continue to grow.

We are in the middle of a hurricane now, but it will calm down and we will get through this. In rebuilding the western economies we will rediscover some of the lessons learned from the '30's... that we need to come together, help each other out, to get everyone back on their feet.

Hang in there Emit!

Doug said...

On the same note, I want to highlight an article currently on RCP:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/10/deficits_or_not_spending_must.html

It is titled on the RCP site as Hope versus Fear, and says in part:

"In this financial catastrophe, last week's unthinkable idea quickly becomes this week's imperative. The Bush administration is wisely contemplating following the lead of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown in having government take ownership shares in many banks to get them more cash and allow them to lend again.

If Obama had suggested such a thing, he would have been condemned as a socialist and the administration might well have had to shelve a necessary idea. Better that the candidates acknowledge that they are powerless until after Nov. 4.

As for cutting back on their programs because the government is spending and lending so much to save the economy, the candidates should just say no to the deficit carpers."

...

"If you think the number of Americans without health insurance is too high now, wait until this recession really kicks in. Few investments would help businesses more than offloading a share of their health care costs to the government. It's social justice with an economic kick."

I particularly want to pick up on the last point: solving the health care problem in the US is, it seems to me from Canada, the biggest problem and potentially the biggest solution. Health insurance is a huge problem for US employers, and the fear of losing health insurance is a big problem for US workers. Both employers and workers are held hostage to the Pharmaceutical and Health Insurance industries.

An American "New Deal" that addresses this issue would help the US economy immeasurably, and allow "hope" to beat "fear", hands down!

Emit R Detsaw said...

Well, my last post was way too negative. LOL

Bad economy, bad for McLame.... The CNN Ticker had a proposal by him on suspending the age forced withdrawal on 401k's and IRAs. In principle a good idea so folks don't have to withdraw their IRA and 401 money while the market blown through the floor and is chiseling through the basement floor. It would be even better if he proposed to allow people laid off to not have to cash out or move their 401k's. It's a gimmick, but has some fairness for older folks.

Still, McInsane is off his rocker and has gotten to the point he is only repeating the garbage that his repubilcan handlers are feeding him. The dude is worthless.

She made a comment about really feeling depressed about Texas being a Republican Electoral State and that her vote wouldn't count. She thought that just because it was a "republican" State, that their electorial votes were determined already. She got a lesson on the popular vote decided who get's Texas's EVs, and that if enough folks (Dems, Inds, Reps) voted for Obama, Obama would win Texas and the EVs for Texas. Seh went back to work with a smile. She said she was looking forward to 11/4. Several others in the area said they didn't know how the EVs were decided for Texas.

I know we have several other Texan's on this board. We will turn Texas Blue this year. It will go good with the State flower!

Minnesota and Beryl,

New York is one of the FEW states that allow "Cross-filing". This allows them to be on the ballot more than once.

The state's "Independence Party" (provided there was an "Independence Party" prior to this election cycle) allowed them to use it. This gives them an extra line and votes that come in under both of those will be counted toward their candidacy (provided only one is marked on each ballot.) For those who are "confused" about it, it is a VERY good thing. Reason? If they mark BOTH boxes on the same ballot, that ballot is thrown out. :)

Palin abused power, reports finds
Friday, October 10, 2008 4:26 PM AKDT

ANCHORAGE -- The long awaited Troopergate report says Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power by violating an Alaska Statute of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.

Ruby in Kansas said...

Aunt Jean, I understand what you're saying, but when the news first broke on MSNBC, they (the guy filling in for Olbermann and some guy from Alaska) specifically said that she broke State Law. Perhaps MSNBC got the story wrong on that point, but they did say it.
Also, even if she didn't break the law, she still violated the public trust. "Trust" is one of the key words Palin has been trying to hit Obama on.

Aunt Jean said...

Hey everyone I hope Sarahcuda gets a lot of NEG. words on this.

On CNN at a McLame rally a supporter said that she couldn't vote for Obama because he was a Arab but McLame corrected her on the spot. I be damn I couldn't believe it. AJ

Leah Texas4Obama said...

There are TWO separate issues here.

1) Palin did not break the law by firing the commissioner.

2) Palin DID break the law by 'abusing her power'.

Ruby in Kansas said...

"There are TWO separate issues here"

Thank you. I get it.

suzihussein22 said...

Does anybody know where to find this statistic, not to distract from the breaking news?-

in all media is stated that 90% of McCain allegations are FALSE or MISLEAD

That percentage sounds familiar...oh yeah, could it be because that's how much of a reformer he's been with Bush?

Independent Voter said...

And issue #2 (she abused her power) goes more to an "ethics violation" which is the equivalent of a slap on the wrist of being "in violation of the public's trust".

Leah Texas4Obama said...

Indy-

But Palin is running her race on being a top notch ETHICS REFORMER.

So, she will be getting more than a slap on the wrist. Her career will be going down the drain and her credibility will be ZERO ;)

Ruby in Kansas said...

I think Walter Monegan will be on the Rachel Maddow show in a few minutes (probably by phone).

Ruby in Kansas said...

It was just said that if the State of Alaska decides and gets a enough votes to do so, Sarah Palin could possbily be a candidate for IMPEACHMENT!

Leah, it was also repeated that the violation of public trust is a violation of State law.

Independent Voter said...

Leah - I agree with you, I think there is going to be a public "smack down" of Palin, and although it is a violation that could be considered an "impeachable offense", I personally don't think it will lead to that. Why? 14 Repubs and 5 Dems. You tell me. LOL

suzihussein22 said...

Now they also need to highlight the conflicts of interest, like helping fund her husband's snowmobile races and funding a youth center at a church she visits often-

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20081010/pl_politico/14471;_ylt=AuQkMlAKBMPcdcavwQ6Q9KNh24cA

Ruby in Kansas said...

Dave, I see where you're coming from on the 14 Repubs and 5 Dems, but wasn't it the Republicans that wanted the investigation??

Independent Voter said...

Ruby, yes it was; however, I think that the AK legislature (like the presidential race) has become extremely partisan at this point. I think the damage is done at this point. I think I smell a recall campaign taking place :)

You have to remember that they will need at least 9 legislators to vote for impeachment and I simply don't think they would be able to get 4 Repubs to vote for it. I don't even think that all 5 of the Dems would do it either. I think they probably think that at this point it would "appear" as a witch hunt unless they could for sure get all the votes for not only impeachment but ALSO for conviction.

Ruby in Kansas said...

Suzi, I can't find anything that specifically addresses "90% of McCain allegations are FALSE or MISLEAD", so perhaps it does have something to do with "that's how much of a reformer he's been with Bush".

Leah Texas4Obama said...

And the vote to release the report to the public was

Yes - 12
No - 0

with the majority of the folks being republicans.

Ruby in Kansas said...

Good point, Dave.

Independent Voter said...

Suzi, UN-F'in-REAL! I wonder if she would have supported the "youth center" if it were for a Muslim Mosque? Or a Jewish Synagogue?

Of course those are rhetorical questions.

Why should it be a "Christian Youth Center?" Why not simply a "City Youth Center?" Meaning religion neutral.

Leah Texas4Obama said...

Well that was a great 'October Surprise'.

Do ya'll think that there are more on the way?

Independent Voter said...

Leah - voting in favor of releasing the report and actually holding impeachment and removal hearings are completely different issues.

The ONLY way the Repubs would do it at this point is if they believed it would save their OWN political careers.

Unfortunately Colin Powell "vouched" for Stephens today, but what a happy day it would be if Stephens is found guilty! :)

The report also illustrates what we've known all along: this was a partisan led inquiry run by Obama supporters and the Palins were completely justified in their concern regarding Trooper Wooten given his violent and rogue behavior. Lacking evidence to support the original Monegan allegation, the Legislative Council seriously overreached, making a tortured argument to find fault without basis in law or fact. The Governor is looking forward to cooperating with the Personnel Board and continuing her conversation with the American people regarding the important issues facing the country."

Dave,
McPalin simply doesn't want to go to jail. If any of his crazy supporters harm a hair on an Obama's head, I guarantee you he and his posse will be brought up on charges. Also, If a race riot breaks out at one of McPalin rallies, they will be charged with inciting a riot and go to jail. Hate crimes are federal crimes.

Some Repigs are distancing themselves from this for obvious reasons. It won't be just McPalin going to jail -- we will round them all up.

Believe that.

Yes, MiM - his own supporters don't want to see him back off of Obama. He has let the genie (or the devil) out the bottle and they don't want to return to a civil debate.

I honestly feel that the majority of the country is better than that. I think the Repig tactic is backfiring on him.

Rachel Maddow covered this issue excellently today.

Independent Voter said...

Mike, ya I saw that. Which is fine. I have the feeling that we are going to see McShrub toning down his rhetoric at his campaign events. I also think that Stalin will be toning hers down. (I hope I'm right.) If they don't, I will have been proven wrong, but I think their internal polling has found that the strategy is ONLY helping them among their far reich-wing base and is completely turning independents away from them which they will NEED the independents if they want to have any chance at winning. And McShrub also has to realize that he MUST face his colleagues in the senate if he loses. Nobody would be willing to work with him in the senate if they don't trust him to "do the right thing".

Right now, Senator McCain is facing one of the toughest choices that a politician ever faces -- does he want to be President or does he want to be able to live with his conscience.

As nasty as this campaign has been, it is only now approaching that point. The events of the past week are beginning to bring home to McCain that the only chance he has to win (barring a game changing event beyond his control) is to go full-bore with the thermonuclear attack on Senator Obama that would destroy this country and legitimize some very very racist groups.

Over this weekend, he will have to decide does he run the ads that his Rovian advisors want him to run and do the attacks in the debate that his followers want or does he decide to pull back and run a mostly positive campaign to allow him to end the campaign with grace and dignity.

Its funny, when I think of McCain, I think of the Seinfeld episode when George realizes that he makes all the wrong decisions in life and decides to do the opposite.

This is McCain. He has run the worst campaign I think in the history of politics.

To be truthful, so did Hillary. Don't get me wrong, I am not a Hillery hater, I did like Obama better then her but I also like Biden better then Obama, at least back then....

The point is Hillary made all the wrong decisions too. She went up in the polls when she showed emotions, but did she learn... no She went on to do negitative attacks agains Obama.

(The truth is Obama needs to thank Hillary. By running a full campaing and attacking Obama... months ago, it has taken away all the amo from the Repubs...)

Now getting to the point (again). McCain is using the same strategy as Hillary. Not realizing that everyone is sick of the attacks, and the lies and this brings him down. Most people see through Palin. If he ran an honest campaign, this race would be much closer.

Aunt Jean said...

Kujo

I have to totally disagree with you about Hillary her campaign wasn't run even close to how McLame runs his. I won't go there but I will say this with the medias help they made moutains out of mole hills. So I would appreciate it very much if you wouldn't compare in anyway Hillary to McLame I find it very offensive!!!!!!! AJ

Karen Anne said...

I agree with AJ on this. Hillary wasn't even on the same planet with the hateful stuff McShame/Gidget have been pulling.

Plus, her video that was posted on the home page a few days ago makes it clear she thinks it would be a disaster if McShame got elected.

She made some mistakes in her campaign, as did Biden years ago, but I don't expect people to be perfect, and I think they're both learned.

Obama/Biden 2008/2012, Hillary 2016.

Independent Voter said...

AJ, Good luck today with your ultrasound. Don't starve yourself too long afterwards...LOL

--------

As far as what Kujo was saying, I don't think he was knocking Hillary, I think what he was getting at is that so many people were paying attention during the primaries that by bringing up Ayers, Wright, Rezko, etc. at that time, that it was indeed SHE that diffused the situation among independents now. Meaning that all of these issues could have been considered an "October Surprise" had she not brought it up back then.

I don't think he was suggesting that Hillary had done anything near the caliber compared to what the McShrub campaign has been doing in recent weeks. Now did Hillary make mistakes during the primary? We can all agree that she did, but at the same time so did Obama. Obama never should have brought up Walmart because it opened the door for Rezko and Ayers. McShrub never should have gone after Ayers, because it opened the door for the Keating 5, G. Gordon Liddy, and David Ifshin.

Again he wasn't comparing the caliber of the attacks, he was saying that since these attack (granted on a lower level) were brought up during the primary, that they are pretty much useless now, because they have been diffused already mostly due to Hillary's credit.

Beryl said...

HRC questioned Obama's "readiness" from an experience perspective but not his character. That is the big difference. Most of her attacks were fair.

"(The truth is Obama needs to thank Hillary. By running a full campaing and attacking Obama... months ago, it has taken away all the amo from the Repubs...)"

Obama has acknowledged this. HRC's negative campaigning gave Obama the workout he needed to better face the Repigs. For this, I thank HRC!

I really hope Bill comes out now and seals the deal in WV, OH, & IN.

Breaking News!

It was a McCain CAMPAIGN VOLUNTEER (from McCain headquarters) yesterday that told McCain that she thought Obama was Arab - the volunteer and other volunteers have been sending out letters that say that and much more.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8XmerZEyHE

Dana Bash from CNN is also in the video talking to the woman, so maybe this will be exposed on CNN - I hope so!

Beryl said...

That is news, Leah. I sent it to Huff, MSNBC and others. They need to get it out there that McCain's volunteers admit to spreading lies about Obama.

He is hypocrite-maximus.

Kujo said...

I have been popping in and out so sorry for late responses.

I really could not respond better then what Indy said.

Many people got on Hillary for not dropping out of the race. She continued to run her campaign and run it honorably (many may have disagreed at the time, but after seeing McCain run now may understand that what she did in an honorable way)

She also left the race Honorably and continued to support Obama Honorably by campaigning for him. I think Hillary and Bill will be the deciding factor for many voters in Florida.

So in summary, I am honoring what Hillary did and hope that in future primaries getting out of the race will not be a topic. People should bring up issues without being obnoxious about it. Force the future candidates to defend themselves and prepare for the GE.

As Indy pointed out, she raised these issues in the primary. Issues like these are "fluff". They carry alot of weight when they are first brought up, expecially when there is no other news going on. Look how long Rev Wright stayed in the news.

This diffused weapons from the Repubs, what do they have now to attack with. Yes the news fires up the base, but does nothing with 70% of the electorate.

The second point I was making is McCain has taken many the same mistakes as was done in the Hillary campaign. I really don't have any issues with Hillary, but the fact is Obama should not of beat her. This was a very close race and the tipping point could be argued as disorganization in the campaign and not understanding what the electorate wants to hear.

While I agree Hillary never came close to negative campaigning as McShame, she did bring up many of the issues. The difference was back then, since these issues where first comming up, all they had to do was let advisers bring up the issues to the press and let the press take over. In McShames case (with Palin), its more like diarrhea of the mouth.

But point with this is that for the most part, Hillary was much more successfull when she showed compassion and talked of issues( Except for maybe PA where Rev Wright was more the issue)
When she showed emotions in NH. At the end of the debate when she said everone is going to be ok..... People loved that.

McCain just does not get it. This is a different electorate this year.

But one the other side of the coin... We still have to watch it.

McCain strategy I believe a hidden one. Forget the Swing Dems. Forget the Indy's. Go for the base.

What he is trying to do now is make the polls wrong by making there assumptions wrong on what the percent Repubs show up; What the percent Evangelist show up VS the youth vote, vs the minority vote.

Its his last chance.

The McCain campaign is exactly as John Lewis described. Today, McCain Surrogate Ben Porritt repeated the "Obama pals around with terrorist claim" on MSNBC. He was given multiple chances to recant but he proudly repeated the claim.

McCain and Palin are stoking racism and violence similar to the time of Governor Wallace. Nothing McCain has done over the last couple of days has changed the atmosphere and tone of his campaign.

AP: Breaking Palin attended Church at taxpayer expense $ 13,000

WASILLA, Alaska (AP) -- The camera closes in on Sarah Palin speaking to young missionaries, vowing from the pulpit to do her part to implement God's will from the governor's office.

What she didn't tell worshippers gathered at the Wasilla Assembly of God church in her hometown was that her appearance that day came courtesy of Alaskan taxpayers, who picked up the $639.50 tab for her airplane tickets and per diem fees.

An Associated Press review of the Republican vice presidential candidate's record as mayor and governor reveals her use of elected office to promote religious causes, sometimes at taxpayer expense and in ways that blur the line between church and state.

Since she took state office in late 2006, the governor and her family have spent more than $13,000 in taxpayer funds to attend at least 10 religious events and meetings with Christian pastors, including Franklin Graham, the son of evangelical preacher Billy Graham, records show.

I only saw the opening of SNL. It was a repeat of the segment with Palin/HRC together at the podium.

Folks, I'm getting really concerned about what this country will be like after 11/4 no matter who wins. If Obama wins, the fringe McCain supporters may act like an angry mob. This problem is 100% McPalin's fault.

If McCain wins, we won't have violence but we'll have recounts and litigation for the next year leaving Bush as a lame duck. Also many people will take their assets and leave the USA.

suzihussein22 said...

Didn't Obama make a statement this year that he believed each state had the right to decide the laws on gun control? I thought he was asked about it after a shooting in IL.

Karen Anne said...

Suzi,

I think Obama's position is that people have the right to have guns for hunting and whatnot, but states and other communities have the right to regulate things like illegal handguns, assault rifles, etc.

I think there is a statement on his web site, but I'm about to turn in.

Emit R Detsaw said...

Suzi/Karen - Karen was correct about it being on Obamam's web site (but not the actual item Suzi asked about. From the site:

"Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets."

There was a comment made by Obama after the Washington DC court ruling that DC didn't have the right to ban handguns where Obama stated that Communities should have the right to pass tougher laws to fight crime, but still allow guns to be owned.

"His answer echoed his cautious statement released through his campaign: "I have always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals to bear arms, but I also identify with the need for crime-ravaged communities to save their children from the violence that plagues our streets through common-sense, effective safety measures.""

Media always gives "projected" results. Mostly based on preliminary results along with exit polls conducted throughout the day. Many states are announced as soon as polls close. Example, NY will be called for Obama immediately upon their polls closing just as Texas will more than likely be called for McShrub immediately upon their polls closing (NO, I'm not writing off TX quite yet, but it is more than likely at this point).

HERE is some great information regarding KEY DATES for Electoral College information.

I don't think it will be that soon Leah. I think it will probably be the following morning if not several days. It all depends on if there are any lawsuits filed or not.

Indy-

Right now McCain is losing ground in Texas and even Arizona and Alaska. There have been quite a few anti-Palin protests up there in Alaska and her favorability rating is falling fast and will probably continue to fall now that she has been found guilty of abusing her power.

I think right now we can't really tell how many states McCain will lose on election day.

Thanks for the info!!

Leah - I agree that they are losing ground, but I just don't think it's enough to really cause them to lose those states.

Something that I don't hear ANYONE question McShrub about regarding his earmark "argument", is that there are TWO Rethuglican Senators from AZ. IF he is so against earmarks, why has he done NOTHING to stop Jon Kyle from requesting them? Could he be using Jon Kyle to request them on his behalf so that he can come out looking as though he is not requesting them himself.

Leah - Re: the first part of my last post - don't get me wrong, I will be absolutely pleasantly surprised if Obama is able to swing those states, I just don't think it'll happen.

I have entire first week of November scheduled to be off from work. I figure that I'll be rejoicing, mourning, and/or helping with the litigation efforts.

This just sounded cute. I have a problem with one of the drinks, because Red Bull energy drink has caused a lot of heart problems with social drinkers because it gets mixed with alcohol, even causing some deaths-

106-year-old voter chooses Obama

Source: BBC

A 106-year-old American nun living in a convent in Rome could well be the oldest person to vote in the 2008 US Presidential election.

Sister Cecilia Gaudette, who last voted for President Eisenhower in 1952, has registered to vote and says she will vote for Democrat Barack Obama.

Although hard of hearing, she keeps herself informed by reading newspapers and watching TV at the convent.

"I'm encouraged by Senator Obama," she says.
