And please be excellent to one another. We do not accept name calling or any attacks on our commenters. Any objectionable comments will be deleted. Try to be civil.

I pray TX does go blue. Keep up the good work!
---------------------
I just got called for an election survey! Some PA Research group asked the expected questions and I was happy to participate.
Texas and Arizona may just turn blue and here is one reason why.
California folks have been moving to these two States (as well as Nevada) over the past few years with the California economy suffering.
My wife and I are 2 votes for Obama in Texas that were not in the State 4 years ago. And there are many more. ;o)
ruby, iv dave, and leah-Isn't it possible to know officially if one of the candidates publically concede the night of Nov. 4?
Suzi, yes, traditionally speaking there is usually a concession speech, but it doesn't really mean anything until the EC casts their votes and are counted in Congress.
Suzi, I think it's possible, but I don't think McCain will concede that quickly.
Ruby,
Can you remind me about what I said about Donna B.?
Live steam link for Biden Clinton rally on www.foxnews.com
CNN doesn't have one up yet ;(
Hillary's on FIRE!!!
Hey Beryl, you know what? I looked at your comment again (Donna is a lady with whom I'd like to sit and drink tea -- or something else "wink", "wink".) and all this time I thought you said "do something else". Boy did I mess that up!! You were probably talking about drinking something stronger than tea.
Aunt Jean and Beryl, please disregard my previous post.
Joe Biden is hitting HARD!
Biden hit the ball out of the park!
Man o man he is good when he gets riled up ;)
Yes he is good, Leah!!
Leah, each state has different poll closing times. The Green Papers site has a list of each state's closing times.
Some states (including Texas) that split time zones have different closing times for the different parts of the state. (In other words, El Paso closes an hour later than the rest of the state.)
If you are in line at the poll closing time, you are supposed to be allowed to vote.
As Independent Voter noted, the media project based on a combination of exit polls and actual results. If the exit polls show a landslide, the media tend to project as soon as they have 2-3% of the results to confirm the polls. If the exit polls show a close race, they may wait until they have enough results to be certain. If the exit polls show it to be very close, they will wait until they have enough results to project a winner based on the actual results.
I have been working on a time line for my own social blog of the time frame for the evening as to what results should be in when, but it is still preliminary and could change if state polls change over the next two weeks.
Ruby,
I said:
"Yeah, AJ. Donna is a lady with whom I'd like to sit and drink tea -- or something else "wink", "wink".
I interpreted AJ's comment this way:
Donna seems like a brilliant lady who can discuss serious issues but she is also very laid back. She would be just as fun to have as a friend or at a party shooting the breeze.
My comment with the winks was a reference to her comment in the video clip. She mentioned that she'd sit down and have a "little something" to drink. The "wink" is the assumption is that the drink would be liquor and not a cup of tea.
Put it both together -- Donna would be a fun lady to have over to for drinks and a serious or fun discussion.
Am I the only one having trouble with the newspaper endorsement thread? I keep seeing new comments on it in the Latest Comment section of the homepage, but when I go to that thread the comments are all from a week or so ago.
Thanks, Beryl. I agree she comes across as being a fun person to hang with and to have serious discussions. She also talks often about wanting to invite people to her home and cook for them. I bet she can "throw down"!
Karen Anne-
You have to go to the bottom of the comment and click over towards the right on the 'more comments' link or whatever it says (they don't all fit on one page). I had the same problem figuring it out this morning ;)
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone that posts links and comments on this open thread. There are many times that I should respond to comments made to me and many times I don't because I get lost over on other sites, etc., but I do read what everyone says and I appreciate all of everyone's input and opinions.
I have been feeling overwhelmed at times lately with all the news to read and videos to watch and with all the smears coming out each day - I will be glad when election day is over. I think we all need a break ;)

I just found a job for Palin after the election.
It is a new football league for women, this is not a joke.
It is called the "Lingerie League"
and there are 10 teams in the league.
San Diego is called "San Diego Seduction".
No, I do not think she could play,
noway she can wear lingerie now, but as a coach. Remember the executive hockey mom thing.
I personally think we should send her an application. She is not bright enough to even be embarressed.
What do you think?
jean
Indy,
Come on, where else does a Pitbull with lipstick get a job.
We know her job in Alaska is in jeopardy.
jean
Jean......LOL!!! Sounds like a plan to me.
Leah, how did it go for Palin? Is she done yet?
*yawn* I was out last night at a concert for a band that - no lie - recreates entire Grateful Dead concerts. Left early, didn't drink (or smoke anything), but someone spilled beer on me and there was plenty of smoke in the air. Kept looking around to see who was smoking. never did figure it out, for certain.
anyway, got home at midnight, and then just felt really tired today around 1 so I napped (I almost never nap).
just up and stirring again. Oh, and if we are gonna have a party with Ms. Brazile, can I come? I promise to behave myself. She's an interesting woman.
Thanks, Leah.
Ruby-
I missed the first part and watched some of it and then missed the last part... I guess if something went wrong it will be in the news.
I think from now on I will skip her rallies and wait to hear the bad stuff on the news because I can't stand to listen to her voice for very long ;)
Now I am off to the kitchen. See ya'll later.
Jean - Why would you say such a thing? Why would you put that kind of visual in my head? UGH! At least, that way she would LOOK as TRASHY as she sounds. :) Perhaps she would be able to find employment on El Cajon Blvd.
Indy,
I intentionally did not put that visual in your head, I said she would be in management, not in the lingerie playing:)I try to be reasonable and am against torture.
Seriously, that is a real league that is starting try outs next week. How long do you think that will lasts?
jean
Jean - are you kidding? That is a REAL league? How DUMB! Is it going to be "arena" football? I can't imagine they would have to play in the mud. Well maybe that is what they are going for.
Oh, btw, I'm sure the "evangelicals" will ALL be in attendance.
Palin's Rally in Ohio today...
Palin draws a line between 'good guys' and 'bad guys'
From CNN Political Producer Peter Hamby
Palin visited the crucial battleground state of Ohio Sunday.
Palin visited the crucial battleground state of Ohio Sunday.
ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio (CNN) — At a campaign rally designed to reflect the pastoral beauty of the heartland in autumn — with a stage set up in a red barn overlooking a sweeping field and piles of pumpkins — Sarah Palin warned the audience about the threat of terrorism, and explained that the Republican ticket should be elected because “we know who the bad guys are.”
“Help me, Ohio, to help put John McCain in the White House,” she said. “He understands. He understands you. We understand how important it is that this team be elected. For one thing, we know who the bad guys are, OK?”
That statement elicited scattered shouts of “Obama!” throughout the crowd.
“We know that in the war, it’s terrorists, terrorists who hate America and her allies and would seek to destroy us, and the bad guys are those who would support and sympathize with the terrorists,” she said. “They do not like America because of what we stand for. Liberty. Freedom. Equal rights. Those who sympathize and support those terrorists who would seek to destroy all that it is that we value, those are the bad guys, OK?”
Was Palin suggesting that Barack Obama and Joe Biden don’t understand the terrorist threat? Who exactly were the “bad guys” Palin was referring to? A spokesman for the campaign would only say that the governor was describing “nations that sympathize with terrorists, period.”
The vice presidential nominee pressed on and pointed the finger at more bad guys — the “greedy and corrupt and arrogant” mavens of Wall Street and Washington who, she said, have pushed the nation’s economy to the brink.
“We know who the good guys are, and it is you, and we will fight for you, and we will put government on your side,” she promised. “We will end the arrogant and the selfish practices of Washington and of Wall Street because your United States government is to be of the people, by the people, for the people.”
In her remarks, Palin also appeared to acknowledge the snow-balling narrative that Republican rallies have grown increasingly hostile and angry in the waning weeks of the campaign, echoing weekend remarks by McCain himself.
“All across America, I know that there’s a lot of anger right now,” she said. “There’s anger about the insider dealing of lobbyists and anger at the greed of Wall Street, and anger about the arrogance of the Washington elite. And with serious reforms to change Washington, John McCain is going to turn your anger into action.”
Obama Knocks On Doors, Surprises Voters
http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/10/barack_obama_john_mccain_ohio_1.html
by Jill Zuckman
"Barack Obama jetted back to Ohio today to spend three days preparing for his final debate with John McCain. But before he holed up with his advisers, the candidate began knocking on doors in Holland, Ohio, making his way through a neighborhood of modest ranch and split-level homes.
His move to the Toledo area comes as a new Ohio Newspaper poll puts the race at a dead heat, 48-46 for McCain. That's tightened considerably since the group's September survey had Obama down six points, 48-42.
Sue Sekel, a 43-year old healthcare worker dressed for a day of Sunday housecleaning, opened her front door to discover Obama standing before her."
How cool is this? I sent it to Huffington but I hope the national news picks up on this.
If McCain starts doing it, he will be just copying Obama again.
Palin is an attack dog that is out of control. They need to leash and muzzle her before she destroys our country.
I guarantee you if she continues this way, we will need Martial Law on November 4th.
I think if I answered the door and Barack Obama was on the other side, I'd need smelling salts.
beryl-She needs to be muzzled, but she ought to be arrested for inciting to riot. She knows this is not a good cop/bad cop interrogation.

It's already been found by non-political experts that McCain is proposing more "socialistic handouts" to us. I still didn't expect this much spin from them.
Did anybody else read that Buckley's son said he was voting for Obama? Another conservative for Obama! McCain's plane is losing altitude fast!
Here's a poll-
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081013/ap_on_el_pr/campaign_independents
I'm glad this site isn't complacent. Some numbers look good, but that doesn't mean we can rest on our...laurels. It's been so frustating being in a stste that's solid for Bush Lite, Inc. Maybe that's why it sounds like I'm trying to convince you guys of something sometimes.
Buckley's son, he's the guy who is ignoring his out of wedlock child except for support payments. That's the child William Buckley made sure was disinherited from his will.
Not an endorsement I'd trumpet.
They are consistent with the the heck with babies after they're born types, though.

Can you believe that is seriously a new football league.

I think with Bill and HRC things will really start to climb.
jean
New poll.
North Dakota +2 Obama.

I watched the Biden rally this morning and it was great. Lots of policy talk and very respectful.
Just finished watching the McCain Palin rally and it made me sick! The crowd chanted 'no obama' a couple of times during the speech and someone in the crowd had a 'Obama bin lying' sign and the tv cameras zoomed in on it at the end of the rally. Also, Hank Williams, Jr. was there and at the end of the rally they played a remake of his Family Tradition song (McCain-Palin Tradition). He refers to the other side having 'terrorist connections' it really made me pretty mad, even more so because in the old days I used to buy a lot of his music!
During McCain's speech someone shouted out something and McCain looked over to where the person was - I couldn't make out what was hollered but it will probably be on the net later (if it was offensive).
New proposals from Obama for tax credits.
Good ideas but I think he needs to increase the non penalty for cashing in a retirement account to $20,000 for each year.
The turnaround for the economy is going to take a while and $10,000 will not go that far if you are trying to save your house and pay your mortgage.

Did anybody just see the Rachel Maddow show?? OH MY GOD! David Frum tried to sucker punch Rachel! In words, that is. Hopefully she'll have it on her website tomorrow. Rachel got crunk with him though, and then she ended her show by calling Sarah Palin and outright LIAR (Troopergate - Abuse of Power)
If you missed Rachel Maddow at 8:00pm cst, she comes back on at 10:00pm cst.
Ruby,
The problem the Reich-wing has with Rachel is that they make two presumptions:
1. Rachel is a woman, and she is only 35 years old, therefore has no 'gravitas' as a political analyst; and/or
2. They forget (or never knew) that she is a Rhodes Scholar, and has an IQ that makes her eligible for MENSA Society membership, if she is not actually a member. Forgetting (or not knowing) this, they think she has no 'gravitas' to be a political analyst.
I love it when they come to what they think will be a knife fight, arming themselves with a water-gun that looks like a revolver, and don't realize that Rachel has an entire arsenal at her disposal, including tactical nukes if she needs them!
Mike
Mike, you are so right! Boo-Yah!
MiM
The word "brilliant" doesn't properly characterize Rachel Maddow. She is beyond brilliant.
True that, Beryl!
HERE IT IS!!! Boy that was fast.

Lookin' good Jean!
I just saw the update on the Prez Forecast...WOW!
ruby-Thanks for the link to Maddow. She is so articulate and beyond intelligent. Crummy shouldn't have kept interrupting her. He got showed.
I enjoyed the half a day prep time for the debate. I also showed this old report about how we could have had up to 28% of our energy as solar by 1991 if the Rep. with connections to electricity and big oil hadn't scrapped the programs, including the solar water heater in the WH. This reminds me of fair weather people after the oil embargo was over.
I will be able to submit one of the questions to the Rep. Feel free to throw one out there. I was thinking about how to ask how they think the Dems could be trying to create bigger gov. when the Rep. keep wanting more nat. security restrictions. What do you guys think?
peevish-I see McCain was in your neck of the woods today. Did it interfere with traffic? :)
As Rachel's show tonight should indicate, it's okay for conservatives to make jokes about liberals and spew hate over the radio (see e.g. Rush). However, liberals must be meek and keep our focus solely on the issues as defined by the conservatives and stand still as they beat us over the head using the language that their propagandist (e.g. Frank Luntz) have discovered sells their philosophy best.
tmess2-Tell me about it. I think I've found the second worst thing, to me, to faux spin. It's supertalk99.7. I have yelled at the radio a couple of times, but since it sounds like it's got the highest rating in my region, I want to have a heads up. Talk about torture. You should feel sorry me. :) Unfortunately, that's the only venue over the internet for the debate that won't keep streaming. Does this sound meek enough? It could happen.
suzi,
What fries my chops is the Republicans doing the "tax and spend" number on Democrats, making it sound like we're fiscally irresponsible, when if you look back several decades virtually every Republican President has had a big deficit and virtually every Democratic President has left a tidy surplus.
They are really a financial disaster long term, and yet they put forth this canard that Democrats are.
That's one thing I'd go after them with.
If there are any real (as opposed to pretending Repubs) Pumas left, fry their chops with this photo -

THE NAME GAME
"In an attempt to paint Barack Obama as untrustworthy, the McCain campaign unleashed a series of baseless smears that irresponsibly ignited a growing undercurrent of anger among its supporters.
They've made insidious insinuations about terrorist connections and invoked his middle name to prey on people's fears in a desperate and reckless attempt to revive their fading candidate.
We felt these actions required a rapid response. One designed to expose the smears for what they truly are... totally absurd."

Judge Rules Against Ohio Elections Official in Battle Over Voter Registration
Ohio Republicans have sued Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, claiming that elections integrity is at stake
AP
Tuesday, October 14, 2008
CINCINNATI -- A federal appeals court has ordered Ohio's top elections official to set up a system by Friday to verify new voters' eligibility.
The full 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati has upheld an earlier ruling that Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has to use other government records to check the thousands of new voters for registration fraud. A three-judge panel of the 6th Circuit had disagreed last week, but the full court's ruling trumps the panel's decision.
Ohio Republicans sued Brunner, a Democrat.
Ohio GOP Chairman Bob Bennett calls the ruling a victory for the election's integrity.
A spokesman for Brunner could not immediately be reached for comment. Brunner previously said there was no way to set up the system with such speed.
Hi All - I've been out of the net without a computer for about 3+ weeks. I got back last night from the hinterlands of the Upper Pennisula of Michigan. I've been reworking a hundred year old log cabin. I was glad to see Leah back online - but I haven't had a chance to see if Aunt Jean came back up since the hurricane. Three weeks + of comments takes a long time to read. Never realized how much we chat on this blog :). I was having withdrawals without a high-speed connection. Well that's about it for now. Just good to see all of you (Leah, AP, IV Dave, Vicki, KA, Jean and all the others I missed)still chatting with dedication.
there's gotta be a way we can help out Ohio on this. I don't know what it might be offhand, though.
anyone? anyone? Bueller?
I'm sure they will figure it out since the Republicans could not stand a chance of winning without Ohio - so it is in thier best interest also. Hopefully this is just static to stir BS. The Republicans can't stand the fact that Sen Obama leads in 4 of the former Republican states and is tied in 5 others. Sure has been a big change since I was able to get online the last time.
leah and vicki-OH should be able to let people vote with state i.d. and/or soc. sec. card like some places do when their voter i.d. isn't with them. Does that sound fair? Of course, it's going to take a while to count.
I suppose they will work something out. But I have my eye on you, Ohio. Don't make me come down there!

Personally, I would rather have issues such as the economy and education be addressed..
again, breaking news on MSNBC.com:
"cheney experiences abnormal heart rhythm, plans to visit hospital"
okay, it strikes me as odd that someone would "plan" to visit the hospital if one were experiencing a heart abnormality of any kind. I realize that it's probably something that he's had before, and thus has expectations regarding the outcome. Also, I *think* he has a pacemaker, no? so it may be maintaining a normal rhythm for the time being.

"okay, it strikes me as odd that someone would "plan" to visit the hospital if one were experiencing a heart abnormality of any kind."
Cheney has occasional afib. Plus occasional vfib.
With afib, some people, actually most people, can walk around with it, although they may be quite hampered. His pacemaker is for vfib, with vfib, immediate action is needed or you;d dead before you can reach a phone.
I see by the Times that McShame's economic plan is based on the trickle down theory. They never learn. Every day my opinion of him gets lower.
Obama's helps the working and middle class, creates jobs, etc. and helps the elderly.
Can it please be Nov. 5th?
I know, Karen - but it just sounds odd.
I actually know people who get afib. It can be fairly mild - "oh damn, that again" or it can be debilitating. It can also lead to vfib. Longer term, the stroke risk goes up, too.
Hey Jean, I was just about to post "The HIll" article about a New Deal. There have been several other media references to a "New Deal" lately, given the news, not all that surprising. The next jobs report is going to be brutal.
Jeremy Rifkin's book "The End of Work" has the best analysis I have ever read of the '30's depression. In it he argues that the industrialization of labor displaced so many people so quickly that the economy became too efficient in producing goods that too few had the incomes to purchase.
The underlying problem of the housing crisis is that real wages have fallen in the last decade, and with the exception of the Clinton years, real wages have fallen quite a bit since about 1980. Incomes haven't kept up with spending. The Republicans want to blame people for getting themselves into debt they can't handle, when the real problem is in fact income growth has been stagnant or declining for the middle class, at the same time that profits as a percentage of earnings have been increasing. In part the productivity gains from the application of information technology to business have not been passed on through higher wages--instead they have gone to higher profits. The few at the top benefit, but most fall behind.
That is what is underneath the need for a New Deal, but I haven't really seen the argument made the way I think it should. People focus on the "action plan" part without really figuring out what needs to be addressed.
...and I forgot to say thanks for the drinking advice! I won't be able to play the "My Friends" game tonight though, soccer practice for my son will take me away for an hour during the debate :(
Sometimes words escape you and you are just dumb founded.
This is what happens when you cannot look out your backyard and see when the Russians are coming.
I guess this is how Palin does it and she is out of town.
Very seriously, this woman scares me to death. You know, she has a lot of people assisting her.
Just plain scarey.

So much for the enery expert.

I am not sure if this has gone out before or not. Make sure you scroll around the screen and click.
"It can also lead to vfib. Longer term, the stroke risk goes up, too."
No, no :-) Don't scare people :-)
Afib does not lead to vfib unless there is an underlying heart problem, not just the afib electrical heart problem.
With appropriate anti-clotting meds and rate or rhythm control meds, the life expectancy for someone with afib is the same as for someone without it, all else being equal.
Signed,
paroxysmal afib since 2000
doug,
Robert Reich discusses that on his blog at
http://www.robertreich.blogspot.com/
Beryl,
That's hilarious. A ton of work by someone.
It took me awhile to realize that mousing and clicking cause different things to happen, and if you wait long enough, a dinosaur cruises by the windows.
Karen Anne - also clicking on the door does different things.
karen ann - sorry! should have said "untreated afib can lead to ..."
clearly, you and your doc know what you are doing.
my friend with afib is also well treated - not happy about the bp meds, but that's his doc and his options. and now that his life is calming down (long story), his incidents are decreasing.
ALSO, you guys must be toying with the palinaspresident.com ... my sister sent it to me this morning.
didja see the dinosaur walk past the windows? hahahahhaha!
Beryl, that was really fun!!
doug,
It is pretty sad when I can see the Dow drop over 700pts and just expect it.
On a happier note remember that the debate will replay several times tonight. You will have plenty of time to play your "My Friends" game:) I also may take over your spot when it officially starts:)
jean
Beryl,
that is hilarious!
Some of the things are hard to find there! Some that took longer than other to find: a rifle falls out of the curtains, you have to click on all the empty picture frames, the red phone rings but you also have to click on it to find the surprise, don't forget the light switch!
Everyone ready for the debate tonight?
I am going to bet that McCain chickens out and doesn't hit Obama on the Ayers issue.
Vicki, yes, the bp meds suck.
leah,
Alot of stuff is going around right now.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/10/14/muslim.dvd/index.html
You know the Repubs did this.
I totally expect Ayers to come up.
jean
Karen Anne, thanks for the link to the Reich blog, which says in part:
***
"It's not as if the typical family suddenly went on a spending binge --- buying yachts and fancy cars and taking ocean cruises. No, the typical family just tried to keep going as it had before. But with real incomes dropping, and the costs of necessities like gas, heating oil, food, health insurance, and even college tuitions all soaring, the only way to keep going as before was to borrow more. You might see this as a moral failure, but I think it's more accurate to view it as an ongoing struggle to stay afloat when the boat's sinking.
The "living beyond our means" argument suggests that the answer over the long term is for American families to become more responsible and not spend more than they earn. Well, that may be necessary but it's hardly sufficient.
The real answer over the long term is to restore middle-class earnings so families don't have to go deep into debt to maintain what was a middle-class standard of living."
***
This is very well said, but is half the point I was making. What I haven't seen anywhere is an explanation of *why* middle class incomes are stagnating in what should have been a prosperous time for everyone (economic expansion and good corporate profits).
The basic Dem message that Reagonomics has failed (e.g., prosperity hasn't 'trickled down', instead pain has 'trickled up') is fine but doesn't get at the full extent of the problem. It isn't just a tax policy issue, and you can't fix it by undoing (for example) the Bush tax cuts. I like Obama's proposal to give tax relief to small businesses that generate employment, but that is playing at the margins.
IMHO, there is a deep, structural problem with the economy similar to what happened in the period leading up to the 1930's. CEO pay of 200x base wages is just an indicator of how screwed up things have gotten over time, and sorting it all out is going to be far from easy.
Jean, we are getting close to 8000 again, and I think we may be bouncing to around that number for a while eh?
Playing drinking games with a recorded version of the debate doesn't seem as fun to me somehow!
doug,
It is the last debate. You have to make your own opportunity.
I really think tonight will be a celebration.
When you see it, it will be the first time:)
Levity.
Yep, we will be bouncing around for a while.
jean
doug,
I agree with you. I suspect the CEO to worker pay ratio we see now was probably the way it was in the days of the (previous) robber barons.
But a crucial thing is that people need jobs. Obama is going after that in at least two ways - jobs rebuilding the infrastructure and green industry jobs.
I'm not up to speed on what he's doing about outsourcing, but I think any Democratic President has to address that, and there are a bunch of reasonable ways - a tariff on goods made in countries with lax environmental regulations, tax measures, etc.
Karen Anne: Obama was criticized during the primaries for suggesting that 'free trade' without protecting standards is a bad thing. I think he is right on. Free trade without any reference to standards results in a race to the bottom in terms of consumer protection, environmental protection and labor standards. I am hopeful that a shift in US trade strategy will help the US domestically bring back some of those outsourced jobs. The US is Canada's biggest customer, by the way, but in most cases our labor/environmental standards are the same or better than in the US, so I am not worried! :)
Jean, I will definitely open a bottle of wine tonight when I am watching the highlights, and toast Obama. If McCain tries to come across aggressively in the debate, he will end up looking very foolish.
This video at the end of the article is VERY IMPORTANT. Everyone be sure to watch it.

My card is printed.
Beryl, that was just wrong....the palinaspresident website. UNREAL! I can't believe I shot Bambi (behind the door). It really sucked!
Anyway, I won't be doing the drinking game tonight - Bill's not feeling real well....soooooooo, :(
Anyway, I really hope McShrub tries to bring up Ayers, and that Obama replies with William Timmons, G. Gordon Liddy, David Ifshin, Charles Keating and Todd 'Secessionist' Palin.
ROFL! Keith Olberman - Playing the Batman clip........LMAO!
Yeppy. I think everyone sent it to him and Rachel
I was a little sad about the poll slip but I remembered that today is Wednesday. He always slips on Wednesday. Chuck Todd mentioned that months ago.
I wonder if McShrub will be wearing his depends tonight?
OBAMA/BIDEN 'O8 OBAMA/BIDEN '08 OBAMA/BIDEN UP BY 8 IN '08!!!
Beryl, another thought on the poll slippage could be answered by the jump in the DOW on Monday. But with it slipping yesterday and nosediving again today, I think it will be bouncing WAY up after tonight.
WOW! I love Rahm Emmanuel - just called McShrub a grumpy old man in his bathrobe and slippers. Also said that the way McShrub is acting has made him irrelevant....or something to that effect....I LOVE IT!
beryl-I think I know where your signs are going to-here! :) There were 6 out this morning, I kid you not! Talk about a shock! It looked like 2 of them got grabbed away while I was at work. Actually that might have been better than graffiti like that graphic in Sacramento. Say it with Krylon!

Leah - I hear ya, but we ALL know that McShrub has made MANY enemies out of his base....the media.
Leah - you called it right.
Schieffer (sp) is in the bag for McShrub.
Is anyone else getting as bored in this debate as I'm am? Major snooze fest.
Is it me or did John McShrub, for the 3rd debate in a row, FAIL to mention the phrase "middle-class" again?
Judging the debate on who looked more presidential and calm OBAMA won!
I can't believe how many times McCain interrupted Senator Obama!
HuffingtonPost.com has a video up already of McCain rolling his eyes:

This contest is close to the end, but new battleground states have opened up: MT, WV and GA are now getting almost competitive. More effort is needed to turn those three states blue as well. Thank you every person who has helped with money, time, canvassing etc. Thank you.

Leah - thanks for all the links.
Granted I don't take much stock in "straw polls" but he [Obama] was leading in ALL of them, including Faux News.
Thanks for the links. Obama is doing well on all polls. I pray this cinches this thing.
This has been the LONGEST election period EVER!
Beryl, I totally agree. People are really getting election fatigue.
I want to see one more contest.
Palin/McCain vs. Biden/Obama.
2 on 2 basketball.
What do you think?
"Cheers"
Doug, you are being silly. Why do you want a do over when you are winning? How does your team benefit by replaying a game they already won? Are you just not using your head or do you think this is some kind of a sport?
Not on basketball court, not in a debate theater. Game over. Almost time to count the votes.
Just catching up with the debate, and yes I am not serious. But FWIW it would be a SLAM DUNK!
:)
Did anyone else hear Robert Gibbs on MSNBC a few minutes ago (regarding "Joe the Plumber")?
According to Gibbs, Obama knocked on the guy's door which he was already a McShrub supporter. So, he didn't change the guy's mind. He wasn't the voter that Obama is after, it is the remaining 5% "brain dead" undecided voters he is trying to convince.
Like I said before, this came from Gibbs (an Obama supporter) but if it is true, then there was nothing Obama could do to change the guy's mind.
By the way, the only reason I referred to the undecided voters as brain dead is because ANYONE who is still undecided after 20+ months, 3 full fledged debates (general election debates) 20+ primary debates, they have got to be brain dead.
Chris Matthews just brought this issue up.
iv,
How's Bill? Is it his hand that's making him feel ill?
KA, no, his stomach was bothering him tonight. He has PT again tomorrow anyway, so it is probably a good thing that we didn't go out tonight.
I'm headed to bed, good night everyone. Chat with ya'll tomorrow.

they added a 'Joe's Plumbing' truck to the window on the right!
Keep checking the website off and on because they said on CNN that new stuff will be added.
Boo-hoo, I can;t see the joe the plumber truck even though I hung in there for some time.
I just now figured out how I found the plumbing truck. You have to click on the right front edge of the desk.
A Funny for the day!!!

My water heater went out yesterday. I have 3 "plumbers" here today to put in a new one! They saw my Obama sign in the yard and told me they are "Plumbers for Obama" and Sarah Barracuda isn't qualified to unclog a toilet!
okay, my stuff finally arrived! well, most of it, anyway. This is the stuff that I ordered DURING or maybe JUST AFTER THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION. It was a $50 donation for a yard sign, magnetic car sticker, five buttons, and a t-shirt. The buttons still aren't here, but that's okay.
Let's see ... beginning of Sept ... it's now October 16th. I guess they all got backed up!
time for another donation!
YAY! Congrats Mike in GA! Do you FINALLY feel like you've been, dare I say it, "LIBERATED"?
YUP!
Finally got my lawn sign today too. It is about dang time!

Nobody expected Gore to lose either. At least we're getting more Dems registered, which is still part of the 50 state strategy. Gotta see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, then "spread the wealth around." :)
Hey you guys - go DIGG this story if you are signed up. It's a GREAT story. Perhaps it is something that MSM will finally pick up on.
iv dave- I digg it.
Joe has 2 tax liens. His name is misspelled on his voter reg., but hasn't been purged from the rolls. He might be connected to Keating. Is that another example of McCain's excellent vetting and judgement?
I meant the guy who was formerly known as an Alaskan and is now the plumber, not Biden.
LOL soft - I understood what you were saying. LOL
HERE is another story to digg. One of McShrub's top campaign fundraiser tied to "war profiteering."
iv dave-I hope pt went good today for Bill. Has he had to take a lot of antibiotics? I ask because you mentioned him having stomach problems yesterday.
iv dave-I'm in lame mode again. I couldn't find where to digg that last article. My 20th century roots are showing.
What happened ? ? ?
I watched Obama and McCain on CNN at the Al Smith dinner...
then a little bit ago I looked for the recorded Thursday SNL episode on my DVR and it was not there!!!
Did they have a show tonight?
If they did, what happened?
I wanted to share this with everybody-
Dear Friends,
The high gas prices over the summer and the recent shortages of gas in Middle Tennessee remind us all of the need to end our dependence on foreign energy sources. While prices have recently gone down, we need to develop the energy technologies that are cost-efficient and domestically produced.
Sincerely,
Bart
NEWSWEEK
From the magazine issue dated Oct 13, 2008-
http://www.newsweek.com/id/162273
This was from Congressman Bart Gordon. It sounds to me like Main Street will become a dead end if we don't make a real change. As doug says, we need a new deal. As much as people don't like them, taxes are necessary for several things, and they should be progressive as your income rises. Our standard of living as a civilization is falling the way of the Roman Empire. Drill baby drill? Sure, if you're a woodpecker. We're not going to find many more grubs though.
Leah - I just checked my DVR and it is scheduled to record....so I'm not sure what happened. I'll let you know in a couple hours (when it is due to air hear.)
Soft - on the NYT article - go to the "Share" link on the right side of the article - and then click on the "digg" icon.
Leah - speaking of the Alfred Smith dinner.......Obama was absolutely hilarious! I loved it. McShrub did ok too, but he just doesn't have the "delivery" skills that Obama does.
Soft - that was a good letter. My ONLY problem is that it isn't just "ending our dependence on 'foreign' energy sources", we need to end our dependence on OIL, period. Not just "foreign" oil. I'm not saying eliminate the use of oil altogether, but eliminate the dependence on it. Does that make sense?
iv dave-Okay, now it's dugg. I was watching for a little yellow icon to come around, not the people icon. Go figure, like snipe hunting.
