What is McCain's latest "senior moment", what does Obama need to do to win in November or whatever else is on your mind.
And please be excellent to one another. We do not accept name calling or any attacks on our commenters. Any objectionable comments will be deleted. Try to be civil.

RNC Hits Obama For Visit To Sick Grandmother

I REALLY PRAY THAT OBAMA WINS and our country becomes a better place in the world.
The crowds are getting smaller and smaller for McCain/Palin.
Obama is still going strong with larger and larger crowds at his rallies.

Talk about jumping ship:)
“I wanted to see the next vice president of the United States,” said Josh Simmons, Gators for McCain chairman.
Simmons said he voted for Obama about two weeks ago.
“I’ve seen a different John McCain than the one I signed up to work for,” he said.
Simmons said he submitted his resignation Sunday night and will no longer be chairman for the group, which has more than 1,000 members.
“I expect them to be incredibly pissed off,” he said.

More of jumping ship.
Romney cannot say that McCain's
campaign is "Dignified"

Hey, I am just repeating what the Repubs are saying. I am not being negative:)
jean
Rest In Peace Toot - You should be very proud of the Grandson you raised! God Speed to the Obama family. I feel for Barack because I to was raised by my grandmother.
Best wishes and sincere condolences to her family.
Toot will now have the best seat in the house for the election tomorrow...
Texas early voting finished up on 10/31.
Overall, 42% voted (39.55% in person).
In 2004 Texas saw 56% voted in the General (but only 29% was via early voting).
So will the 13% increase in early voting translate in an upset - turning the State Blue?
You Betcha. ;o)
(LOL word verification is hotte)
I was so hoping Obama's grandmom could make it thru Tuesday night.
Why would Spunky not release her medical records? Well, assuming she doesn't have a serious current problem, as that seems unlikely:
(1) past abortion
(2) venereal disease
(3) something else I can't think of that would bother her family values(sic) crowd.
My heart goes out to Barack and his family. He was crying just now at the beginning of his speech at the rally in North Carolina while he was talking about his grandmother. And I was crying with him.
Did any one see pictures of Palin's daughter lately. Does not look that pregnent to me.
Kujo, I was thinking the same thing, but Bristol isn't campaigning with them, it's Willow that is always caring the kid.
Ok, YES I am stressed. I'm sure that I have already developed some sort of anxiety disorder. I woke up to a major nightmare last night.....NO I'M NOT GOING TO SHARE........you guys really do NOT want to know. Well, it ended in Bill and I moving in with p'd ant and his wife....LOL! Well not really but might as well have.
Well at least KO isn't re-airing the crap he did on Saturday. I was so pissed about that! I know that it is mainly up to management to determine what is going to be aired, but come on, you can't tell me that KO couldn't say no to it.
Indy,
Right now watching the BBC.
They are airing it also.
Having a cocktail to relax:)
Moving in with Ap and his wife huh.
jean
Don't forget that the
Saturday Night Live Election Bash 2008
is TONIGHT.
Here in Texas it starts in 30 minutes at 8pm -- (9pm ET)
Indy,
I know that Bill is doing better and I hope his cast comes off soon.
How are you doing with school?
jean
LOL Jean! Yep, movin' in with p'd ant.
Jean - schools going well. I had everything come down on me last week and the first part of this week. I had a paper due on Thursday this last week, a paper due today and one due tomorrow. Had a test today and have another exam first thing tomorrow morning. UGH! I know I did pretty well on the papers and today's test, and believe I'm prepared for tomorrow's test. School has been the best release for me lately when it comes to getting away from the campaign.
Bill is doing better and last week's dr. appointment was rescheduled to this week. The doctor wanted to reschedule it for tomorrow and I said, OH HELL NO!!!!!!!!!! So it is going to be on Wednesday afternoon. This way I don't go nuts waiting for the polls to close. I will be voting right after school. Hopefully the line won't be too terribly long. I have the feeling I will be waiting quite a long time, as I mentioned last week, at my polling place they only seem to find 80+ year olds that can't see for #### and it takes forever for them to find you on the voter roll.
I got my email from Hillpac:
http://www.hillpac.com/action/gotv/
I am beginning to hate Keith Olberman. He is putting words into Obama’s mouth saying that he is mocking McCain. Mock McCain if you want to, but do not fudge the words and make them come out of Obama’s mouth. There are low information voters who may not get the irony and think that Obama actually said those words in that context. He is doing this on the eve of a most critical election.
Keith is really screwing up 'his comment' tonight.
He should just be saying IT IS McCain.
The dumb folks are going to get confused by the way he is doing it!!!
I'm really sorry to hear it!
Does anyone know how to send Keith Olberman a message? I can’t see a contact information at MSNBC website.
I'm just thinking about Suzi and Mike. I hope things are going okay for them. I know things weren't going real great for them.
I don’t get these “artists” who carry on with offensive speech and claim that their speech is protected. But Keith Olberman faking words coming out of Obama’s mouth should merit a complaint to the FCC.
Amer,
Try sending it to countdown@msnbc.com I'm not sure if he will get it, you could also send an e-mail to Rachel at rachel@msnbc.com (that one does work.)
Thanks, IV. I am really quite upset by Keith’s behavior.
Interview with Obama and McCain during half time on Monday Night Football.
Husband just saw it was coming up.
jean
just got in from standing on a cold (well, about 50 degree) wet street corner, holding a sign for OBAMA. waving and cheering! got lots of thumbs up, only a few thumbs down.
tomorrow I'm gonna call the person coordinating voter contact in my town to see what is still left to do.
On the K.O. item tonight. Personally I don't think there are too many low information voters that watch Keith. Still, probably was a piece better held for the after polls closed talk.
I find nothing redeeming in tonight’s Countdown. To splice tape and video and make it appear that a presidential candidate is saying despicable words he did not, and to do so on the eve of the election is at least journalist malpractice. Oh, that’s right. Keith is not a journalist. He is just a pompous self-righteous a**hole. Exactly like SNL had him this past weekend.
iv dave-Thanks for the positive thoughts. We can feel the caring from you and everybody. I was thinking of you last night when I explained to Mike why Affleck was doing a spoof of Olbermann. I think it's funny cause he's so far left and pulled up some segments. Mike is independent also but was actually agreeing with him. This has just been the most mind-opening election I've been a part of. There is more to this country than just politics.
I have just one thing to show in response to Palin and socialism-
http://www.adn.com/money/story/576509.html
But the board she appointed cleared her of any wrongdoing. Wasn't that what she was waiting for? You betcha. :) They know what side their bread is spread.
jean and iv dave-One of these days I will get to your neck of the woods when I see some cousins. What kind of dream will that give you? I had a good dream about the election the other night and I'm sticking to it. Denmark, eh? It's all Dutch to me. :)
My MIL got transferred to rehab today but almost went into a diabetic coma because the hospital didn't send any info with her. MY SIL the nurse ripped them a new one. We don't know how well she might be doing right now if Mike's sister hadn't been here.
Our puppy is doing good.
Kujo,
Sorry for the late message (was busy today and just got to DemConWatch Open Thread), but here's some info on what Baracuda was discussing about coal:
On January 17, the editorial board of the San Francisco Chronicle had a discussion with Senator Obama. They taped the discussion and put it up on their web site. There is no explanation from Baracuda as to why the McPhailin campaign is bringing the topic up now, but they apparently just found out about the recording, and are lying their asses off about it.
Here's the Chron's November 3 editorial on this subject, and includes a link to the recording:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/11/03/EDOO13SU3L.DTL&hw=coal&sn=006&sc=604
Mike
LOL Suzi! Like I said it was a horrible nightmare.
I'm glad to hear the ruppy is doing ok. Now we just gotta get the MIL doing better.
As far as Failin' Palin.....ya, it's more like Cheney-style communism.
Mike,
But what is interesting is I don't see much play about it in the news. This is good news.
Suzi,
Glad to here the puppy is doing well.
Glad to also hear you have a SIL who is a nurse and is helping with the MIL. I know it makes things easier. I have one of those also and she is a godsend:)
Sounds like you are rounding the corner to things settling down.
I hope so:)
I cannot wait to vote tomorrow.
I feel like it is X-mas.
jean
So apparently (according to Anderson Cooper) Failin' Palin just released her medical records. Hmmmmmmm, I wonder why they would wait until the night before. What is she hiding? They would normally drop them on a Friday, but since Friday comes after election day, why would you wait until the night before, after much of the country has already gone to bed?
And by the way J, I am sending positive thoughts your family's way as well. I know it's going to be tough. But you'll do fine! I have faith in ya!
Thanks Indy,
BUT
You cannot say Palin released her medical records and not tell me where I can find the info.
I already checked CNN and there is nothing:)
jean
LOL Jean - I know. I was so pissed that AC said that they have been released but nobody has posted anything yet :(
How many weeks to have her Ob-Gyn create false documents? One would think it wouldn't take that long.
Indy,
OK. I googled, fruggled and duduudelgooled.
Can't find anything.
Guess I will have to wait till tomorrow on what Sarah Palin was so snarky about releasing her medical records.
jean
Indy,
DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?
Could be much earlier.
Never forget Leah and her talents of finding info:)
jean
Boring,
Basically a nothing info deal is what she gave.

WOW! Okay I think everyone knows that I'm really NOT a fan of Geraldine Ferraro. BUT! I just had to flip the tv over to Fox Noise. Well she was on Bill O'Really's show with Laura Ingraham as another guest. Ingraham was calling him the most leftist senator (which is what the National Review tags every likely Democratic nominee) and Ferraro was actually on there defending Obama. I really couldn't believe it!
Jean! WOW! Boy, that McShrub campaign is just way tooooo sly aren't they????????
MAJOR EYE ROLLING GOING ON!
Indy,
Heading off to spend time with the family.
But here is a question.
Why did the Dr. not say healthy woman who bore 4 or 5 children?
No mention of # of births.
Isn't that a major part of her health the past many years.
After 2 kids my file is 3 inches thick.
Just a question:)
Have a good night.
jean
You know, I really really really really really HATE coming off DST! Is it me or does anyone else think that we should stop observing DST?
Jean, because she would have to repent EXTRA hard tonight if she had her doctor LIE for her. :)
Good night.
I give up.
What is DST?
Daylight Savings Time.
Husband just told me.
Don't say a word.
goodnight
daylight savings time
LOL - goodnight Jean! LOL!!!!!!
First reported results are already in from Dixville Notch, NH - (typically goes Republican).
Here are the results as they came in on Larry King Live:
Barack Obama: 15
John McCain: 6
Ralph Nader: 0
First time they have gone Democratic since 1968
I just saw the Dixville Notch results live on msnbc, too!
:-)
One of my favorite places to celebrate New Years is at Disney World.
If you go to epcot, at about 11:20 they start the celebration. They first do there usual firework, light and music show. Then they start the the New Years celebration (around 11:45) by going across each country in order of time zone. So Japan first, then China ... With each you get a little flavor of their culture. When they get to the US it is 10 seconds before midnight and the count down begins.
I think it would of been fun for Obama to end up at DixVille at 11:00 and have a little rally, then the people could leave and walk to the polls. :)
To Obama
my heart felt condolences go to your family. You will be in my prayers tonight. I know in my heart that your Grandmother is looking down watching you and thinking how proud she is of you. AJ
Are You More Qualified than Sarah Palin?
http://www.brainfall.com/quizzes/are-you-more-qualified-than-sarah-palin
According to this quiz, I'm 92% more qualified. I'm puzzled about that though, as it is impossible to multiply 0 by anything and get a rational result!
Mike
Mike In Maryland
I took the quiz quickly but still made an 85. Does that make me 85% more qualified than Sarahcuda. LOL LOL I don't think it takes much to be more qualified than her!!!! AJ
Here's a good video on CNN
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politics/2008/11/03/sot.nc.obama.grandmother.cnn
Latest Reuters/CSPAN/Zogby poll jumped from +7 to +11. Results show the undecided are breaking strongly for Barack Obama.
Dave,
Would moving in with me and the wifey really constitute a nightmare? That's not a very nice thing to say! Besides, Benjamin could use a gay uncle to make sure he dresses well and teach him how to fix stuff around the house with something other than duct tape.
About 15 minutes ago Senator Obama's plane landed in Chicago. Senator Obama will spend the night at home. Tomorrow he goes to Indiana for a quick 'meet the voters' then he will be in Chicago for his election night event.
We are almost at the end of the journey to 'the beginning of the next journey into the future'.
EVERYONE GET OUT and VOTE!
Take your neighbors, friends, and family to the polls - make sure they VOTE ;)
Mike in Maryland-
I also got 92%.
I will pass on being VP because I am wise enough to know that I am not intelligent enough for the job.
I will say though that 'I have not been very proud of my country' until recently. Also, for several years I have wanted to move to Italy because I was more proud of being an Italian-American than I was being on American.
I will be VERY proud of my country if Senator Obama wins this election, and I look forward to being an American once again.
Okay, I've had too much rum this evening ... goodnight ;)
It is almost 3am...
Knock on doors, make some more phone calls, email everyone you know.
Drive your friends, family and neighbors to the polls to VOTE!
DRAG everyone you know out of their houses to VOTE!
FIRED UP AND READY TO GO!
We must do everything in our power to make sure that our next president of The UNITED States of America is President Obama.
Goodnight ya'll.
LOL,
but don't knock on doors at 3am!
FIRED UP!! READY TO GO!!
Good morning everybody. CNN reported that the little district in New Hamshire (I think normally Republican territory), Barack carried 15 of the 21 (or 22) votes. I'm taking off work today to help get the vote out.
LET'S DO THIS YA'LL! YES WE CAN!!
Here's the link from MSNBC:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27528804/
Hitchens: "A General Shift Against the GOP"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032553/
I'm not superstitious -- at all -- but they say that if the Redskins lose their last game before the election, the incumbent loses. (It didn't work for Kerry though.)
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Story?id=6164911&page=2
"But one of the most accurate indicators is how football's Washington Redskins fare in the team's final home game before Election Day. This year, the Redskins host the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday night. "
Didn't the Redskins lose last night?
I was so busy with Obama work that I didn't verify but I see this article:
http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/news/sports/story.html?id=d0f59083-4d9f-46bf-b4c7-0d76e81ca6ed
Looks like the Redskins lost.
FIRED UP!! READY TO GO!!
The Redskins were beaten by a team from western Pennsylvania, and western Pennsylvania is where McCain and Palin made their last stand in this election.
Obama was in Pennsylvania to deliver his "Towards a more perfect union" speech and that's the state where Palin was booed at the hockey game.
The state with the liberty bell has had so much to do with this story.
Best of luck everybody!
I feel like Leo DiCaprio hanging on the stern railing of the Titanic next to Kate Winslett, in the moment before the plunge.
(Only the thing that we're racing towards is GREAT, not disastrous.)
"HANG ON!! HERE.....WE.....GO!!"
Good morning world!
My voting experience this morning was smoother than I had feared. My polling station was busier than usual but my station is divided into several voting precincts. My wife and I arrived at about 9:15 a.m. Stood behind a pair of voters, obtained a paper ballot, and within one minute was seated at a booth and inked in Obama (President), and the other yellow dogs for federal and state races (as long as they had DEM next to their name). I removed the stub, fed my ballot into the optical scanner and slid the stub into the slot. Out of the polling station by 9:40. This is the first time I ever used a paper ballot. I declined using computer this time. I want to be certain that there will be a paper trail of my vote.
LOL p'd ant - moving in with you wasn't the nightmare, the nightmare was what drove TO move in with you. Oh and yes, you would have the best dressed kid....LOL
I just voted, in line 1/2 hour before the polls opened and I was number 245 in line, took me 1-1/4 hours...when I left the wait was 2-1/2 hours.
O and Joe 08!
Indy,
OK the positive is that it is raining and we made it through the fire season well:)
Also I just fertilized everything in the yard and a soaking rain is great.
But that it happened on voting day is quite amazing.
jean
From my friend in London...across the pond!
I admire your enthusiasm !!!
Are you confident? In the press over here they seem to think it's pretty much a done deal that Obama will get in. Let's hope they're right.
Good luck. Our fingers are crossed for you.
GO OBAMA !!! :-)
I just watched Obama as he voted . His voting experience was similar to mine, though their ballot was longer than ours (paper ballot and optical scanner).
We have entirely way too many propositions on our ballot here. But for ALL of my California neighbors, PLEASE vote NO on Prop. 8.
my gf in CO (Denver area) IM'd me at 7:15 that she was leaving for the polls to vote. I told her to IM me when she gets back home again.
No wait at 9:20 in a lean Democrat (55%) rural precint in Missouri. Optic scan machine gives number who have voted. Was 884 (which is 25%-33% higher than norm) out of about 3,000 registered voters.
Greetings All! I haven't posted since June, but thought I would shout out an Election Day howdy to my friends from the primary season.
I wanted to send up an "I told you so!" to those who debated with me whether North Carolina would be in play for the general election, but I see they are all gone.
I also see I am too late for the EV pool, but I will throw out 353 anyway.
If we fall short in NC, that would put it at 338.
So I guess Leah & Woodland Sprite are my proxies from the early group, and Aunt Jean and Indy are my proxies from the October entries.
I will say that with 2.6 million early votes in NC split about 51/30/19 between Dems, Reps, and Independents (only 3.6 million total votes were cast here in '04) I still have a good feeling about NC turning blue even with recent polls showing a dead heat.
I'll be bringing the Vodka to the celebration party tonight! StopObamaNow aka Yamaka, whereever he is, can bring the crow!
Everybody have a great day and be sure to VOTE!!!
HI Dave In NC
long time no hear!!! I'm so excited!!!!!! I voted early because I could stand to wait any longer.AJ
Everyone I hope that there is a lot of friends on this blog that are still up when I get back but it will be late. I'm going to be so excited I want be able to sleep!!!! See you later!!! LOVE TO ALL AJ
Just went and voted and feel great.
I also had a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!
As I drive down the street there is a guy removing No on Prop 8 signs. When I come to a large intersection there is a sheriff, it is right by the station.
I honk my horn and roll down my window and tell him there is someone taking down the signs.
He turns on his lights and makes a U-Turn and goes.
Of course I am nosy and go down the street and turn around to go see what happens.
When I get there the guy, really stupid is screaming at the Sheriff,
the Sheriff just takes out his cuffs and arrests the guy.
YIPPEE.
Having a great day:)
jean
Just got back from voting. From the time I entered the school where the precinct votes to when I left was about 10 minutes. No line at all inside or outside.
Short ballot here in the City (state elections in 2010, city in 2011):
President
Congressperson
Vote up or down 8 Circuit Court judges
Vote up or down 2 Appeals Court judges
Two state Constitutional questions
16 city questions (mostly bond issues)
Approximately 1200 registered voters in the precinct, about 400 of which had voted by shortly after noon (EST). There has been a steady flow of voters according to the poll workers, no real peaks and valleys. Eight voting machines, and when I voted, the seven other machines had voters.
They are expecting better than 80% turnout in the precinct, and at least that % in the city as a whole. If this happens, it should be a massive vote total for Obama from Baltimore City!!
Mike
Jean,
Maybe the same guy that IV Dave ran into? Some people just never learn! VBG
Mike
hey my gf in Denver said it took about 25 minutes total - took her a while to get back to me since she ran some errands afterwards.
Ok, McCain has his supporters.
I don't think that Obama will miss this one.

Gotta do the follow up.
This is where the Naked Cowboys father is working the polls.

jean
WOW! THANK YOU JEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got home from school AND voting (yes I played hookie from my second class because I wasn't sure what to expect with lines, etc.... ZERO WAITING! PLUS! There were no 80+ year olds manning the polls. They were all under 40!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it! I was telling them I was SOOOOOOOOO happy to see how smoothly everything was running here. And then I was telling them about some of the other states, FL, OH, VA where things were really getting screwed up.
Bill voted earlier today so he and I are both covered.
I have a very strong adult content post that I will post later, because I'm really getting disgusted with our Rethuglican counterparts.
Anybody have a link to a good exit poll site that will be releasing early reports?
Dave,
Don't even bother with the exit polls. Here's Nate Silver's (from 538.com) analysis of exit polls:
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/11/ten-reasons-why-you-should-ignore-exit.html
Mike
iv dave-Howdy. :) Could you make that adultish post after 9p.m. if there's an image that might be seen easily? Thanks.
jean-Book 'em danno. Good for you. That's how you get engaged in the voting process. I think I convinced my manager to vote for the first time. We had never discussed politics before but he asked me a couple of general questions and I made sure he understood how important it was.
Guess how many was in my line. Huh huh? Two. It seemed to take longer this time to go past bfe to get there after being valet for my sil.
Hi Dave - glad voting went easy. I am watching a movie called "Philadelphia". It is really a great movie. Can't imagine ever having to deal with this scenario. Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington were outstanding. Figured I'd do something to kill the time since the wait for the results is driving me crazy.
Yep, Passing Time.
I thought this was quite enjoyable to read.

Main link for the Google map LIVE RESULTS:
http://maps.google.com/help/maps/elections/index.html#2008_election
.
Just for information - If you have Directv - they have set up the news channels so you can monitor 8 networks simultaneously. For those of you that are political junkies like me - what more can you ask for?
Mike, I loved that movie.....very sad though!
Suzi, it won't be a visual....it is more of a bitching post. I am disgusted with the tactics the Rethugslicans are using.
1 more minute until WV and IN polls close.
Dave - some only - the rest close at 7pm.
Mike, ah ballz......I just heard that.......LOL!!!!!!
No numbers will be announced for another hour or so :(
IV - Indiana has two time zones, only the east coast ones have closed. No results will be out for Indy for another hour.
Leah - the Goggle map is a good one. They may be just a test, but NH is the only state with numbers so far. 32 for Obama, 16 for McCain.
;o)
Indy-
I believe it is KY and IN.
I can't take this ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
45 minutes until the next closing.
Emit - that is the two little towns who vote a midnight. Barack won both with 17-10 and 15-6 respectively. They are the only two that vote at midnight and report immediately.
First early results posted now on DCW
http://www.demconwatchblog.com/2008/11/presidential-election-results.html#jumpto
.
Matt/Oreo - Can either of you tell me the plans for DCW after the elections? Do you plan on keeping the site active? I personally would hate to see you close it down!
OOPS! My bad, you're right Leah. Sorry!
fivethirtyeight.com has the BEST scorecard on its front sheet posted at 6PM. Five colums that allow the easy visual switch from "lean" to "called".
Mike in GA-
Oreo and Matt are not watching the Open Thread right now .. they are busy with election results.
This is what Matt said on the front page of DCW earlier today:
DemConWatch hits 4 Million visits
Today DemConWatch received our 4 Millionth visit. We just want to thank all our loyal readers for taking time to stop and read our little corner of the web. We know there are a lot of places you can go for political news, numbers, and opinion, and we appreciate it that you spend some of your time with us.
We hope you'll continue to visit after tonight's election. We'll be covering the transition, the inauguration, detailed early looks at the 2010 Senate races, and, of course, the race to host the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
THANKS!

Hey all if you like everything (numbers) on one page - try this link with AOL Elections 2008 - http://news.aol.com/elections/2008/president
Sorry make that nine columns (five for each side from tossup to called (with the overlap at tossup.)
Very easy and instant comprehension that marries individual states with tabulated totals.
Here's a good map you can scroll over to see the results:
http://news.yahoo.com/election/2008/dashboard
.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Anybody else as ANXIOUS as I am?
Pollster.com (http://pollster.com/) has a map on the front page. Scroll over an individual state, and it will tell you which of the networks* has called the state for whichever candidate, estimated result and pollster trend. They also will tint the state light blue or light red if not all networks call, but those that have called agree. If disagreement, the state will be colored yellow.

Thanks for the input everybody!
Bradley what!??!? So far... although it is ridiculously early... Obama appears to be performing better in every single state than the polls said he would. Again, a little too early, but I don't care...
I TOLD YOU SO!
One early indication:
Vigo County (Terre Haute) in Indiana is considered a 'bellweather' county - whoever has won Vigo in every election since 1892 (except 2 elections) is who has won the EC.
The Indianapolis Star right now is indicating that with more than 90% of the vote counted, it is:
Obama - 56.3
McLameBrain - 42.5
Mike
Indy,
YES.
My son already got a text from a friend saying obama is losing and is freaking.
Very few votes are in I told him.
He can't but I am having a cocktail.
jean
Jean - you are a better parent than I would be. I'd be having a cocktail with him.
jean/kujo,
this makes me wish I could drink (can't, sends my heart nuts.) Maybe I will go pull up some more wall-to-wall carpet or something (doing number on house.)
Hard to tell from early returns what is going on. I remember that you can't just scale up from partial results for a state to the state as a whole, because there can be a lot of variation across a state in where candidates are the strongest.
I'm feeling very nostalgic tonight. It's been a long road.
Hey Leah, do you remember when Ed Iglehart nominated you for Secretary of State of this thread...... back in March?
Remember that slug name "Jim" from Texas??
Memories
jean-I am having chocolate.
iv dave-Feel free to bitch away later. The kids will be in bed by 9p.m. They are playing yatzee right now. They asked us to wake them up when Obama is called the winner. We'll be glad to this time. :)
What's up with VA so far? Are the counting the real American precints first? :)
Sarge is doing good on 3 legs. He got home an hour ago.
Obama has overtaken the pop. vote total already. :) I know, that only counts in horseshoes. It's still pretty to see.
robh-Yeah. I hope we hear from some of them. I noticed ed posting on BBC.
We should be seeing a HUGE influx of Electoral Votes coming Obama's way in about 6 minutes.
Suzi, I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO glad to hear he is doing well on 3 legs. I hope he continues to do well. And YES, the Pop vote does look great!
iv dave-Thanks. Anybody who has a big heart for animals is okay in my book. I'm glad to hear Bill is doing good and got to vote okay.
Florida's looking REAL REAL GOOD!
Obama Biden Obama Biden Obama Biden

O & JOE '08
For anyone wanting to experience some rich schadenfruede tonight, you may want to tune into FOX tonight. Major Garrett just reported that while "they don't want to call anything just yet" the Obama ground team in PA reports they met or exceeded every turnout target and PA will not be close, and also predict a win in INDIANA.
Whoohoooooo
Something looks REALLY fishy in Desoto County however. It shows that McCain has received 100% and Obama 0% of the vote with 47% of precincts reporting. This with an African American population of about 40% (2004).
Tristen is stoked and going gaga at the screen. Not sure what it is, probably just all the bright colors, but I've got to believe it is good luck. Gonna have a beer and try not to sweat this out.
LOL Robh, of course they don't want to call it.....they're a bunch of morons.
Bradley effect my butt.
I just want to go up to every jackass that talked about the Bradley effect to me... dance in front of them... and say,
"NEENER NEENER NEENER!"
I'm ok with being childish. ;)
Dave!
Show internet links when you say 100% for the other candidate. ;)
WE WIN!
Fox just called PA for Obama!!!!!
Withe the western three, CO, NV, NM...it's done.
Here you go p'd ant -
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/county/#val=FLP00p2
YEAH!!! Kay Hagan wins!!! Screw you Doles!
We look good for taking Florida also.
Dole has lost the NC Senate race according to MSNBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike
p'd ant - That is AWESOME news for Haban!!!!!!!!!
Crap Dave, why must they always steal votes? I have never seen 100% anywhere ever.
I win Mike ;)
We're missing most of Fairfax, a large portion of Fairfax city, Arlington, Alexandria, and Newport News, Hampton, and Norfolk. These are all BIG areas, and BIG Democrat areas.
To give you a bell weather... although in Northern Virginia, Louden County is a rural area that ALWAYS goes Republican. It is fully counted, and Obama won 51 to 49. Virginia is BLUE. :)
WHEW! DeSoto county has now been updated.
The FOX exit polls for PA are awesome. A total spanking.
In every category execpt White Catholics, which only went for McCain 51:49. A crushing.
I'm getting a really perverse pleasure watching FOX tonight. I think I need to go back to MSNBC or CNN.
Leah, for a few minutes there, Texas was light blue :-)
I called Loudoun early, my bad, they're only 10% reported. He did win Mannassas though, which is a toss-up area... and he won by about 7%.
I just had a sobering moment... I feel the need to share it.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/politics/elections/2004/
Dave,
that looks more logical. Did Obama just win Indiana?
No offense, RobH, but nobody wants to hear about Foxx. If you want to watch Foxx, fine. But keep it to yourself.
Apissedant,
Where did you hear about Indiana?
I didn't hear about Indiana, just watching MSNBC and looking at Washington Post and MSNBC. The numbers are still technically close... but they're missing huge pockets (of blue) and lost a lot of, "solid" Republican areas. Seems they're being more cautious than I would.
Just want to say thanks to everyone.
I don't have to many to express my excitement to, in reference to this election, or get INTELLIGENT RESPONSES FROM :)
I live in repub country.
Just WOW.
This really is something we will remember for the rest of our lives
as a very high point.
jean
Tom Delay is explaining all the damage that Democrats are going to destroy our economy. Why is Tom Delay on MSNBC?
What does Tom Delay think of the economy HE created through HIS control? Is this the definition of success?
Hey AF&O:
Bite me.
I'm tried and true, and have been here since March. Don't tell me to keep something to myself. If I want schandenfruede, I'll have schadenfruede. Who named you the PC police?
Let's celebrate, in every way we can. And if that means highlighting FOX's pain, so be it.
jean-I hear you. Your welcome. This has been a welcome refuge you could say.
p'd ant - I agree. Why even give that douchebag any airtime whatsoever.
I can smell the love in the air
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of calling criminals and crooks, "leader" or "congressman" and calling on him for intelligent counsel. That man should never be on any TV unless he's in handcuffs... or it is FOX news.
AP -
Regarding Indiana (according to the Indy Star):

McCain - 39.8
Vanderburgh Count (Evansville) - 54.4% counted:
Obama - 52.7
McCain - 46.4
St. Joseph County (South Bend) - 92.5 % counted:

McCain - 40.7
TOTALLY MISSING so far:
Lake County (Gary, Hammond, East Chicago)
Mike
SuziH,
Any particular place on BBC that you saw Ed posting? I want to find that guy, and close a loop with him.
RobH, of course you are free to post as you wish. I am only asking you to be considerate. I go out of my way to avoid Foxx. I come here often and it is very jarring on my nerves to find someone prancing around giving Foxx free publicity. I am asking you to consider the nerves of some readers here who consider Foxx Satan’s mouthpiece.
YES!!!!!!! OHIO!!!!!!!!!
This is over....Tristen is bored now. Nothing left but the final numbers....I'm very happy and relieved.
YES!!!!!!!! NEW MEXICO!!!!!!!!!
OHIO HAS NOW GONE TO OBAMA>
Early Nite:)
jean
Keith just called it. ;)
I wish to ammend my 306 pick.....is it too late ?
robh-It wasn't this week, sorry. I'm trying to remember when, but too much has been happening. I usually have a pretty good chronological memory. It may have been a few weeks ago.
Virginia is now within 7,000 votes. This isn't over until Virginia turns blue.
LOL, I think my 375 is going to be too high, and my 317 will be too low. Darn. Maybe I'll hit it on the mark with my 54%.
Ok, I just have to say it, just to make fun of Joe McCain! Come ON Communist Country FAKE Virginia! LOL
Give us the win!
I think we all need to give a shout out to Senator Clinton for all her hard work. She deserves this win just as much as the rest of us. She has worked so hard to get Obama elected. So, again, I'm giving a shout out to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Hillary did well. The democrats came together and made me proud. The infighting stopped, because they realized we couldn't afford to let Republicans to have control again.
Obama is up 8,000 votes in Virginia.
iv dave-I'm sharing your sentiments. :)
10,000 votes in Virginia. First biracial President, first time Virginia voted blue since civil rights, first time democrats controlled both houses and the Presidency since 1994.
Unfortunately in order to make those firsts, our country had to slip into trash due to Republican rule, giving us a whole bunch of other firsts, that aren't so great.
SWEET!!!!!!! IOWA!!!!!!!!!!
WOW! It is such a GREAT DAY TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG!!!! Have you guys seen the crowd at Grant Park? I am SOOOOOOOOOO JEALOUS!!!!!!!
And Dems are at 54 Senate Seats (I'm not sure if that includes LIEberman or not.
Suzi, :)
Chris Shays (R-CT) goes down to defeat. That means there are ZERO Republican representatives in New England.
Also, the South Dakota anti-abortion amendment LOST!!!!!!!!!!
Now on to Calie and defeat of Prop 8!!!!
Mike
The whole world is watching the United States of America right now...
Italy: http://www.corriere.it/
France: http://www.lemonde.fr/
front page news with maps, EV counts, articles, and photos... I am sure it is the same in all the countries around the world!
I am so proud to be an American!!!
AmericaFirstand Only,
Sorry I jumped on you vis a vis PC. I was going to go after you some more, but you disarmed me with "prancing around". Too funny.
I'm no Fox proponent, and I too consider them satan's mouthpiece. Just needed to publicize that they were CHOKING ON IT!
Enough said. Like all good citizens, we are as one....
Peace to you, and no more references to the beast.
Leah,
Loved your post just now. When is the last time random American's could be heard stating freely "I'm so proud....."?
I read an interesting thread on Talking Points Memo this AM where someone posted:
"I'm sitting in my office in London right now, and wish I could come vote for Obama. Welcome back America. We missed you."
How awesome is that? The string of responses to that from American posters, waas really pignant.
