You could borrow one of McCain's corporate jets. ;) Yea, why would government get involved in the Schiavo case anyway? I shouldn't be so surprised about anything anymore, but the Constitution sure does get twisted around enough.

talking about margarita makes me want one. I do believe that is one of my favorite drinkds. That is if it's frozen. One time my ex husband and i went to this mex. restaurant. Well I wanted a frozen margarita. So we decided to share a large one right. Well they came out there with a hugh fish bowl. Needless to say we didn't finish it LOL AJ
aunt jean-There's no way I could handle being a caregiver or nurse. I have too much compassion and not enough objectivity. I can handle my kids' crises though. My daughter has almost gotten her thumb bitten off by a snapping turtle and my son stabbed his leg learning how to wittle.
margarita-on the rocks with or without mango
suzi,
My son when he was ten was put on a ATV by his older cousins and ran into the house and broke both his arms in several places (each) and was with full casts for 8 weeks.
We became VERY CLOSE and the son is now king of levity;)
jean
I should call Cindy and see if she'll be my pilot huh? UGH! Nevermind, I'll pull a steak out of the freezer. But I WILL take a margarita (strawberry - yes I have all the mixings ;)
You daughter almost lost her thumb to a snapping turtle? OMG! That just sounds toooooooooo funny. And your son stabbing himself, well that just sounds like me and my brothers. Growing up we had some pneumatic staplers and a couple of compressors. Well my brothers and I use to play paintball (without the paint) and used shoot staples at each other. LOL!!!!!
Ya, we made a few trips to the hospital.
howdy, just a flyby here. mmm margaritas, steak and taters, gotta love it. I'm making jalepeno poppers, wine, and a burrito for dinner.
as for end of life decisions, they are NEVER easy, each one is different, and a living will is your best bet. maybe it works, maybe not, but the best you can do is try. My most heartfelt best wishes go out to anyone making these difficult decisions.
and the troll count is four, count em up - and ignore them! LOL!
enjoy your evening, I'll pop in from time to time. it's only 3:30 here.
jean, OUCH! That must have sucked. You had no choice but to get close (being in full casts and everything). How did your trip to Game Stop go?
i v dave-Yup, a cousin told her it wouldn't if she gave it a flower. It's kinda funny now. Give it another 3 years...sizzle, sizzle...mine will be medium medium well...nice and juicy, yum, yum. I let my kids feel a little more grown up by using margarita mix with sprite one time.
jean-I'm glad he recovered. OUCH Cousins are starting to sound more and more dangerous. :)
Suz.
I think you would make a great nurse. You have compassion and a level head. When I started working as a nurse I wouldn't even touch a dead body. Well those things change. I was very humbled many times. The stories that I could tell you.I also knew that I was giving them the best of me [if you know what I mean]. The saddest thing that happened to me. Is there was a house fire the daddy was able to save his daughter because he threw her out the wimdow but he wasn't able to save his son. I cried the whole time I was cleaning the little girls minor cuts. All he could say was I've disfigured my daughter over anf over. No amount of assuring could convince this man that the minor cuts would not leave a lasting scars. He was in scock no doubt. AJ
Suz
typo I meant shock.
BTW, there happened to be a nurse there with my daughter and we were able to bind my son's leg good enough to keep from needing er.
Taters? That doesn't sound elitist enough for us Dems. ;)
Suz
sounds good enough for me and I'm a democrat. LOL AJ
indy,
I survived but now I have to do the stuffed peppers marathon.
Making 24 and now I will first open a bottle of wine;)
suzi,
He is fine but we were in way upstate Michigan and there was no life flight. The sheriff came to escort us to the hospital. He did learn a very valuable lesson to listen to mom when she says "No you cannot get on the ATV." LOL
Some lessons are harder than others;)
Gonna go cook and have some wine.
jean
Jean
bless your heart glad you survived it VBG. AJ
Jean drink a glass for me I think I need one. LOL AJ
Aunt Jean,
I will take care of that glass of wine for ya;)

open question-What do you think of Google's election website? It says something about we can read what Obama and McCain are reading. I didn't think McCain was ever on the internet.
Well, after suzi mentioned the margaritas and since Bill isn't home, I figured a what the hell. LOL
I made a blender full. I have the feeling that by the end of the night, my words, whether typed or spoken, will all be slurred. LOL

suzi, nah, that one you can go alone. Just don't mention margaritas, that one I can be convinced of easily. ;)
AJ, ya we were royal pains in the ass for her.
---------
Leah,
Clinton and Obama came to an agreement last week that her name will be in the first round of voting at the convention. I'm sure all she is doing is explaining the ins and outs of the process. She could also be making sure that she is also telling them that after the first round, she will be releasing them and is requesting that they vote for Obama.
So, as far as her having a conference call with her delegates, I don't think is a big deal. But then again, a skeptic would completely disagree with that, but I guess we will all find out next week. :)
IV-
I did not say HRC was up to any tricks.
I was just citing to new articles on the front page of DCW in case someone missed them ;)
There was an article yesterday on CNN that stated that Hillary will transfer her delegates to Obama after the roll call. The agreement is in place and Senator Obama will be the nominee by unanimous vote.
.
"it's people like you and that low life Jayw that will get Obama to lose"
AJ,
Why would you take out your irritation with Leah and JayW on Obama? Obama has NOTHING to do with the comments from his supporters.
Right now, our #1 political objective should be to stop the Republicans. If you want to get mad at someone, get mad at McCain for calling Chelsea ugly and laughing when the person in his townhall called HRC "the B****". Just remember that every time you read something negative about HRC.
If the Clintons or their declared supporters (e.g. PUMA) do something to risk Obama's win, we will and should talk about them. If Clinton had won, I'd personally not be enthusiastic but I wouldn't want Obama or his supporters to do anything to keep her from getting in.
Regardless, people are going to complain about the Clintons because they are 2 of the most powerful people in the Democratic Party. They are also going to complain about Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean. Once Obama wins this year, they will complain about him too! That is the way it goes.
That said, I don't think we need to discuss Clintons' pre-2007 actions unless it has current relevance.
Beryl
I wasn't putting Obama down and if you thought I was I'm sorry. All I meant by it was that there or some Obama supporters here that Obama doesn't need not one Clinton supporter to win. I told her that she must really want Obama to lose because he needs the whole democrat party not just part of them. AJ
Leah,
Ya I know. I was just sharing my opinion on the piece that you posted, that's all. I know I addressed it to you, but it was simply meant as a point of reference for others.
Did anybody hear the audio between Obama and the 2 millionth donor, Ed Prouty of NH?
suzi. no where did you hear it?
Karen Anne said...
Mike in M, it kind of sets my teeth on edge when someone who is Jewish (not you if you are, rather the sources you are quoting) declares that Christianity is wrong about something that is intrinsic to its belief system.
Karen Anne,
Why did you state that the sources were Jewish, or that Christianity is wrong about something?
FYI - one of the sources I used is newadvent.org, aka The Catholic Encyclopedia, hardly a site that would postulate that Christianity, especially the Roman Catholic version, is wrong about something. Almost all the discussion about the Nestorian heresy and the 'Monophysitic error' came from that site.

Some said quote: "Obama supporters here that Obama doesn't need not one Clinton supporter to win."

No one on this thread ever said that.
Besides the majority of HRC supporters, or I should say EX-Hillary supporters are already Obama supporters.
There really aren't any Hillary supporters 'for this election' since she is no longer running.
There are Obama supporters and McCain supporters.
And I am NOT a republican as someone on this thread said earlier today. I have been 100% supporting Obama since 2004!
i v dave-Since you're on a food and drink kick, totally my fault ;), have you heard of a restaurant close to you called Da Kine(I think that's how you spell it)?

If I ever have this kind of levity, jean, feel free to blast me-
Some show McCain as among those leading the charge to segue from attacking Afghanistan to attacking Iraq. On Jan. 2, 2002, he yelled to sailors and airmen on the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt in the Arabian Sea, "Next up, Baghdad!"
Let's see how many soldiers and Iraqis sacrifice for big oil.(my version of sarcasm)
HOLY SCHNIKEYS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did anyone else know that Cindy McCain actually has a half-sister that Cindy completely ignores? Not only does she ignore her, but doesn't even acknowledge her existence. She continuously says that she is an only child.
Neither did I.

Barack Obama’s birthday gift that was lost - then recovered from a Chicago taxi cab, turned out to be a belt and a shoeshine kit. Robert Gibbs, one of the three staffers who went in on the present, said the inspiration in part was a pair of “really bad” brown shoes that Obama wears from time to time on the campaign trail.
The candidate celebrated his 47th birthday on August 4th.

This is a good thing since there is a video on YouTube of Rendell praising Farrakhan! I hope Rendell stays far away from Obama!
Grrrr.. and now Dan Abrams on MSNBC has to bring up the Obama HRC ticket again!
Dan Abrams has a crush on HRC - that has to be the reason he just won't let it got! LOL :)
I'll be glad when Obama announces the VP pick so we don't have to listen to this crap anymore!
And before the insults start flying....
The reason Obama should not pick HRC is because that is what the Republcans want! They would be joyous to high heaven because they have already prepared all their smears against HRC ... but they will have to start from scratch when it is someone else!
The best thing for Obama and the Democratic party is for Obama to pick a less controversial person.

Cindy is a piece of work. She was young but she was old enough to know that committing adultery with John was wrong. This story only gives me another reason to not like her. I watched Keith O's special comment tonight which motivates me to give one to Cindy.
Cindy, there are reports of your wealth be attached to organized crime. I do not know how true that is but I do know two things that are indisputable.
1. Following Michelle's comment, "The first time in my adult life I'm really proud of my country" you said, "I've always been proud of America". Even after hearing Michelle's explanation, you didn't have the discernment of Laura Bush who expressed that she understood what Michelle meant. She graciously stated that Michelle was always proud of this country but she was more proud for the first time. Even after Laura's comment was on record, you continued to say, "I don't understand why she said that but I've always been proud of my country."
Barbie, you ought to be proud and thankful to be in America given you've been privileged your entire life here. You forged documents and stole drugs from a charity to support your habit. Afterwards, you had the money to buy your way out of prosecution. Anyone else would be imprisoned. Yep, you should be proud of this country.
2. Just last month you said that the "only way to get around Arizona is by plane". Wake up, Barbie! Many people get around the state by bus and by foot. You could have said "A good way to get around Arizona is by plane and thankfully, we are able to commute that way." But no, you are too selfish and spoiled to express gratitude for your wealth and privilege. It is not like you had anything to do with attaining your financial status.
One thing you've proven, wealth does not buy class because with all of your wealth, you have none.
Barack and Michelle Obama come from humble beginnings. They are classy because they were blessed to be raised with middle-class strong family values. They studied and worked hard to be successful. They are a good, clean couple that would represent us well in the White House. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for you!
Independent Voter -
I saw that about Cindy McCain's sister on HuffPost and I think it is just awful that Cindy says she is an only child.
Seems like John and Cindy both aren't very good in the family values category!
It was interesting that Cindy's Dad basically did the same thing as John McCain... the both left their first wife and kids for another woman and then pretty much neglected the first kids!

Dave,
No, I was going in to finish up my summer research. I had a three week break because my boss, who is both a Chemist and a computer programmer, had to rewrite his software before we could continue the research, and he was out of town. We found an issue with the software, proposed a solution, he agreed to it, and it just took him three weeks for it to make it to the head of the line. Now I've got less than a week to finish all the research.... EEEKK!!!
Then I visited the friends of my wife and myself that were so kind and wonderful to us when we first started our relationship. I don't see them too often, so I spent a good 3 hours over there discussing... well everything.
On a continued note of what Leah was saying earlier... 4 of the 7 are Republican... and VERY Republican... and we often have very agreeable and wonderful conversations... often venturing into politics. It is funny how hard it is to get along here with "teammates" when it is often much easier to get along with "opponents." Part of it I attribute to the passion of those who post here, because we are not just regular Democrats or regular Republicans here. We care and follow more than most. Also, we lack the personal relationships that help smooth over silly disagreements. Just goes to show that just because your politics are the same, or at least very similar, does not mean you can get along with one another. Too bad, but that is life.
School starts next week... and I can't wait. =)

jean,
LOL...
I had a great day. I still miss my wife, but keeping busy is an amazing load off. Even though it has been very rough on this website the last few weeks, I totally missed you guys and had to catch up on all the non-Richardson based posts. I didn't get to follow the links today, no time... but I really wanted to. =/
I spent 2 hours on the road, about 8 hours doing research, and then 3 hours with my "old" friends. Hehe... they're probably about the same median age as the people on this thread, but they're my wife and my best friends here in the states. The people our age are still just kids, and we just can't relate to them. The older generation and us get along much better, even though we don't always agree on politics.
Oh, that was a crazy side note... haha... my point was that was my most active day in over a month, and boy did I need it! Research was rough and did not work out how we wanted at all, but we have a new idea that we're going to try on Wednesday... and hopefully that will correct for the errors. I love brain puzzles! =)
P.S. Don't play with jet fuel calibration if you like being right. Every time we come up with a new theory, the jet fuel finds a way to disprove our theory! URGH!
Yes, I call it playing. I love work, and I miss it.
Ap,
You got me good.
It took a minute to understand what you meant and the flood gates opened.
I am still laughing.
On another note. Yes we can get along. This can also go over into our regular lives. Lifes lesson is a continuous thing.
Can you imagine what the UN has to deal with?
Put it into perspective, passion is good.
Super long day tomorrow, going to bed.
Have a good night all.
jean
soft,
Those chin up bars suck! They always fall down off the frame and leave huge divots in the door frame! If you want a pull up bar, you have to man up and fork over the cash for a stand alone. BTW, if you're thinking of a Christmas present for me, this is a great idea. If you can include a couple 45 pound weights with it, that'd be great too. ;)
My wife might appreciate it too. My arms, chest, shoulder, and back seem to be drifting down to my belly. VBG
jean,
You sleep well. I still think Bolton could have fixed all our UN problems if you damned liberals hadn't prevented it. ;)
peevish-Keep hinting in the $5 range for Christmas c.o.d. and I'll think about it. lol
Passion is great. Silly season is understandable sometimes. It would be like the couple who doesn't think they should argue or show affection in front of their kids. My parents usually wouldn't. It made it a little harder for me to adjust to marriage.
peevish-Another southern expression is dunlop disease, when your whatever has dunloped over your belt.
Leah, if we are playing guess the VP, I would guess "Biden" if I wanted to be right.
but if I want to dream, I would say, "Gore". *sigh*
Omaba/Gore '08
It just sounds right to me.
(or, as my neighbor says, "Vicki, if you were any greener, you'd be growing moss on your north side")
soft,
LOL, I agree. I'm not a big fan of the sugar coating, and the letting crap build up. Seems healthier to try to settle issues when they rise than to ignore them until they're unmanageable. Sometimes you judge wrong and you confront a situation that maybe should be ignored, but many other times you prevent a small problem from becoming a large one. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference using foresight, and sometimes you still can't tell in hindsight. So is life.
ap, this former chem engineer wants to know what the heck you are calibrating jet fuel to do, but that's another story.
more importantly, I wonder what you are doing up at this hour, given where you live. I get up around 5 am tomorrow, and I'm about to call it a night. and I live in a very different time zone than you.
vicki,
I don't sleep well without the wifey. She makes me go to bed, and I fall asleep better with her in my arms. Without that, my mind never quits until it runs out of gas.
As to the jet fuel... it isn't my project, so I don't feel appropriate saying too much. The basics are rather simple however. We're actually calibrating an instrument that measures the additives in jet fuel to ensure it meets the specs for the military. There are already plenty of methods to do this, such as mass spec, ir, gc, and ramman, but these are much more expensive, time consuming, and the testing instruments are very large and delicate. The idea is to have a field instrument that can withstand maltreatment and still test all of the components at site, instead of shipping samples off to be tested in Europe.
The exact instrument and software are all owned by the company my professor works for, so for details on that, you'll have to read the article when he publishes it later this year or early next year.
Vicki, your finger must not have been flying as fast as your thoughts were. I don't think Barack would like the last name Omaba.
LOL
obama, omaba, well, at least you knew who I meant! it's late, I'm tired, but you know, I use the virtually same excuse when it's early and I'm waking up. fact is, I'm a bad typist. so shoot me.
ap: I've seen some pretty inexpensive tests for in-the-field use in environmental testing for PCBs and whatnot. Based on antibody-antigen reactions. You can only get them for single components, and they aren't as quantitative as GC/MS, etc, but they get 'er done. I can look up a web site if you want. they are awfully sturdy tests. I would say "idiot-proof", but then they went and built a better idiot, LOL! but sincerely, pretty darn easy to use. are you looking for something like that? sounds like you want something more quantitative, though.
oh, my husband is out of town, but I'll sleep just fine tonight, thankee. perhaps it's the benefits of age - don't get me wrong, I love my husband, but I sleep pretty much the same either way. I trust that you will get to a similar place in your own time and pace, though.
anyway, night all! tomorrow is another day, rise and shine at 5 am for me. see you all tomorrow for more fun and arguing!
LOL!
vicki,
No... we're testing for a lot of items... many in very very small concentrations. The only other field test that is comparable is a raman, but the machine is about 8 times as expensive, takes about 4 times longer to run, and is VERY delicate. Our probe has been dropped multiple times... and is stored just laying on a desk. My prof claims you can drop the entire instrument, pick it up, dust it off, and keep going.
He had already perfected it for all but one of the ingredients that he is attempting to measure. Now we're on the last additive. This one is the pain in the butt. VERY small quantities. If we're able to perfect it, it will blow the raman out of the water. If we can't, the raman will remain a valid competitor.
After the research is done I'll let you in on the exact additive being measured, but like I said... not my project, not mine to tell.
vicki
Have a good night sleep. Tomorrow is just my day to relax and talk to the wifey, because she has the day off. :)
LOL - Goodnight Vicki.
Goodnight Jean (I forgot that you had said you were going to bed
By the way Vicki, I'm already at that point. I actually sleep better when Bill isn't here, but I would never tell him that....LOL
Dave,
Don't worry... I'll tell. I have a big mouth. VBG
LOL p'd ant. Thanks!
The only reason I sleep better is because we are both radiators and we try not to run the A/C very often.
Haha... yeah, I know what you're talking about. Eva and I put a sheet between us so we don't get sticky... and normally I sleep with just a sheet.
It is funny though, because our cat took over Eva's job. If I'm downstairs and it is past 11... the cat just sits on the bottom step and stares at me with disapproving eyes. "It's bed time! Don't make me tell mom!"
heh heh, back up again before I'm out the door. Paul is a radiator too, I sleep better in the summer when the house is hot anyway. although yesterday was our first brush with fall, it was much cooler. most of this week is "first fall storm" week here: highs in the 60s (upper teens for you in Europe), and rain rain rain.
ap - the beauty of the antigen/antibody tests, is that they go very very low. I think the ones I saw, the DL went down to ppm, and for a variety of chemicals. Pretty sure you can get them with the DL in the ppb range. They are a use it once and dispose it category, making them extremely durable. If you have one to three compounds that are tricky with your probe, they might work nicely with your experiements. I saw them for PCBs and dioxins (for which I think DL of interest is actually in the ppt range).
but hey, maybe it's not what you are looking for at all. I got no horse in this race.
I may be posting from work later today: our receptionist is vacationing out at the coast w/ her family, so I will be answering the phones today. If it's slow, I may log in here. There are a couple of things to take care of, but it's not my usual day to be in.
Leah, I'll bite. My choice is Bill Richardson. (I would Biden if I wanted to be right)
vicki,
Ok, I just did some reading because I'm not familiar with the antigen-antibody test. As far as I can tell, it appears to be used to detect microorganism impurities that can grow inside a fuel tank. In this case, we're not worried about growth impurities, but in the actual composition of the fuel. We have to make sure it has the correct additives and ingredients required for fighter jets. Like I said, I'll tell you the exact compound we're testing for soon. I haven't been told not to talk, but I haven't been told I'm allowed to talk either, so I figure better play it safe and way until says something and my part in the research is complete. We're thinking we'll be done next week with this segment of the research.
Trust me, I spent the first two days of the research trying to think up some other type of testing that would give us these results, because I was not initially a big fan of this test. Each suggestion was rebuffed with a reason why it won't work in this case. =/
Now we've got the responsibilities and conditions of the test strict enough where I think it might work. I guess I'll find out next Monday!
Ok, I think most of us know it is probably going to be Biden even though he is up for reelection in his Senate bid right now, but I will guess Lincoln Chafee.
Dave,
LOL, why are you guessing that?
He told us not to read into it, but he is going to be in Virginia on Wednesday. I choose to read into it, because I still like Kaine.

Hahaha! The best typo of the election season - AP article!
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gxVW-aUPQsPkU0JKEleSPNCyxSsAD92L2HJ80
excerpt:
(10th paragraph down in the article)
His top contenders are said to include Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Less traditional choices mentioned include former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, an abortion-rights supporter, and Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Democratic vice presidential prick in 2000 who now is an independent.
----
This is why Bill Clinton should stay home until after the election!

From HuffPost:
Bill Clinton Praises McCain On Energy Policy
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/08/19/bipartisan-praise-from-bill-clinton/
.
LOL p'd ant! I like Chafee. I think he was the ONLY Republican voted out of the Senate in the 2006 election that should not have been. He was a total RINO (now an independent) who shared most of the same views Obama does. He was the only Republican Senator to vote against the Iraq war and is more progressive than most Democrats.
There are a few good one's on the Republican side, VERY FEW! But by choosing Chafee, Obama would be showing his willingness to reach out to Republicans and Independents. Plus everyone is anticipating Obama's pick to be a "surprise", someone who nobody would expect. That for sure would throw a lot of people off! And would probably piss off McCain to no end. Anything that pisses McCain off, I'm ALL for!
Leah, I read that earlier (about Bill). I know he put in there that "obviously I like Obama's better", but WTF is he thinking? He never should have even mentioned McCain in that speech or news conference or whatever the hell it was.
I'm going to stop the criticism there as to not offend anyone.
Oops! I forgot something Leah. Hopefully Al Gore, who is speaking before Obama (I believe before) on Thursday, puts McCain in his place on his energy "plan".
Listened to Ed Shults today. He agrees with me that we need an attack dog and questions the value of someone "who can bring in a state". That latter doesn't always work. Edwards couldn't secure SC in 2004.
There is no perfect candidate so we will highlight flaws no matter who Obama picks. I think we need to focus on the positives as soon as the selection has been made.
My favorites are in order:
1. Hagel - doesn't have a chance but I like him the most.
2. Biden - He used to be lower on my list but the Georgia incident and McCain's attacks moved him up quickly. A Obama/Biden ticket will have judgment & diplomacy (Obama) and experience (Biden). Biden is the attack dog we need and will be good in debates.
3. Sebelius - I LOVE THIS WOMAN. I am so in tune with her stance on most issues.
4. Clark - I love his his military experience and how he speaks his mind.
5. Kaine - Don't know much about him but I like what I've read on his positions.
6. Clinton - terrific pick and would be an asset to Obama. This is a good time for Bill to finish his degree at Oxford. 'Nuff said.
7. Richardson - I just like this guy. He has great experience and he is amiable.
Leah,
You'll love this one:

Obama's 2008 VP Pick Contest
Leah - Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (Clark)
Vicki - Senator Biden (Gore)
Rich - Gov. Bill Richardson (Biden)
Independent Voter - Senator Lincoln Caffee (Biden)
apissedant - Gov. Tim Kaine
AJ - Senator Jack Reed
Beryl - Chuck Hagel (Biden/Sebelius/Clark/Kaine/Clinton/Richardson)
Anyone one else have a guess?
Leah,
I think it will be Bayh, although I wish it would be Gore.
Why if not Gore (sorry little of this is rational, I am assuming we are not dealing with a rational electorate)-
Biden would be the best, for his foreign policy experience and gravitas, but he looks as old as McCain, so then the Dems lose the old/senile point. Alternatively, maybe old is good, given Obama's relative age.
Kaine - I dunno, doesn't he just look a bit unPresidential to you? Like the friendly neighborhood frog?
I am ruling out a woman, since Independents and Repubs will have enough of a time voting for someone who i Black. Plus the spectre of Ferraro being picked despite her incompetence dances in my head and hangs over the choice of a woman, esp. after the Clinton debacle.
Beryl-
WOW! What a great clue!
I have my fingers crossed :)
And by the way Kathleen Sebelius is the only one of the top picks that currently has a major job in the Obama campaign (she's the convention co-chair), so she is already working with Obama!
.
p.s. I would love it to be Linc Chafee. A President who worked as a blacksmith...
Dave,
I like Chafee too, but I don't see it happening. I nearly donated to his campaign in 2006, but I was poor.
Great article authored by someone that was a POW with McCain!
Why I Will Not Vote for John McCain

.
Karen Anne, yep! You don't get much more "blue-collar" than that! LOL
p'd ant - I was just thinking "outside the box" knowing that he probably wasn't even on Obama's shortlist. You know kinda like the EV "contest". Remember I'm the only one who chose 538....LOL
Did everyone read the link that Beryl posted?
http://www.tribbleagency.com/?p=1747
I think this is one of the best clues regarding the VP picks that I've seen!
Be sure not to miss it!
WOW - another clue SORT OF...
If you go to
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tag/barack-obama
there is an Obama ad on the right side of the page - the one that says 'be the first to know Obama's VP via email' once the ad say that and you roll your mouse over the JOIN US red button three people outlines pop-up --- and honestly the first one is of a woman and it looks like the outline of Sebelius and a her shirt she wears alot! Even the outline of her hair and head is there!
They are hiding their secret right in the open!
Leah,
you'll like this
http://www.tribbleagency.com/?p=1747
apissedant-
Where'd you find that?
Is it getting around the web?
Beryl posted it up above and I posted it up above. I've also spread it around on HuffPost ;)
In projecting a VP, am beginning to feel like in one of those old "if this is tuesday, it must be belgium" movies.
Among the ones that the media places on the shortlist, I will take Bayh. As my darkhorse candidate, Governor Salazar.
AP, the ab/ag test is used to test for compounds, not microorganisms. it just uses that technology in a diff way. don't worry, I'm still clueless on what you are doing, though. :-) I'm going to stop talking about it, because it will probably be an uphill struggle for you to convince everyone else that's it's an okay test. it may even be ASTM by now. I first heard of it in the 90's.
now back to go read everyone else's posts since this am.
interesting clue - the website link takes you to the godaddy page, and says that it's "parked there for free." similarly, obamabiden.com takes to the same sort of godaddy page. I wouldn't take it as a solid clue, but interesting!
It would be as much of a mistake to "rule out a woman" because of her gender as it was to pick a woman because of it!
Sebelius would be a great pick.
This business in Georgia is a trick and a trap and if Biden becomes VP as a result of it the Change election doesn't fit right. Besides, who on earth would be Secretary of State?
Something that I find even more interesting about the obamasebelius.com domain name is that if you go HERE you will see that the domain name was actually purchased/created on January 15, 2007 (not 2008).
What that indicates to me is that Sebelius was his chosen running-mate (or at the very least a very high possibility) for over a year.
When she gave the rebuttal to the state of the union speech she hit all of Obama's keynotes in tune, and the next day she endorsed him. She's been in the running longer than most of us outside of Kansas have heard of her.
Indy,
Rumour has it no word till Sat.
Dang it is going to be a long week.

Chicago, IL – Today, the Obama campaign announced that Senator Barack Obama will kick off his trip to the Democratic National Convention on Saturday, August 23, 2008 with an event at the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois, where Obama officially announced his campaign for president on February 10, 2007.
From CNN...
Obama camp announces major weekend event in home state
(CNN) – Barack Obama's campaign confirms that the Illinois senator will hold an event in his home state Saturday, kicking off the "roll into the convention" — but would not confirm or deny reports that he might be joined on stage by a running mate.
The event will be held in the Old State Capitol in Springfield — where Obama first launched his presidential bid a year and a half ago

I will take Biden and Reed as my dark horse if you please.

BREAKING NEWS!!!
Rachel Gets Her Own MSNBC Show
by Keith Olbermann
Tue Aug 19, 2008 at 02:05:19 PM PDT
Happy Now?
The network will be formally announcing this tomorrow, but I am pleased to inform you in this fully authorized leak, that as of Monday, September 8, our mutual friend Ms. Maddow will become host of her own show, on MSNBC, at 9 PM Eastern Time.
And, yes, we will be making another unofficial announcement of this on tonight's edition of Countdown. My guest to analyze the Rachel Maddow news will be Rachel Maddow.
* Keith Olbermann's diary :: ::
*
Let me answer the key questions in advance:
1) No, she will not be serving as a VeeJay introducing music clips or cartoons.
2) No, I don't think we have the name of the show chosen yet. She wanted to use "Countdown With Keith Olbermann" and I said, that's where I draw the line.
3) No, the format isn't set, though there have been a lot of discussions out there and they have all centered on how to best allow her to both give her laser-quality insights while soliciting the opinions of others.
4) Yes, I had something to do with it.
5) Yes, you had something to do with it.
6) Yes, this is why I never really responded to any of the 41,754 comments that all pretty much read "And get Rachel her own show, nitwit."
7) No, I'm not sure it will replay later in the evening but I bloody well hope so.
8) Yes, I did like the description of her in The Nation: "Everything about her radiates competence and a deft, bright careerism."
9) Billy Loes. A teammate of Hodges in 1950, an opponent of Adcock in 1954, an opponent of Colavito in 1959, a teammate of Mays in 1961.
10) No, this actually happened pretty quickly. Less than five months between first paid appearance and own show is pretty fast. I believe I still hold the MSNBC record: I came back to guest host for three days in 2003 and 39 days later I had a contract to do the 8 PM show. With people as talented like Rachel, getting it locked down quickly is a good thing.
11) No, I have no idea who will start guest hosting Countdown. Took me five years to find her.
Dammit! Why didn't I think of this! She can't be the guest host any more! I knew I'd forgotten something!
12) No, there will not be pie. Well, you may bring your own pie, but I can't be bothered with pie now! I have to go find another guest host. Dammit.
From MSNBC....
Biden: 'I'm not the guy'
Posted: Tuesday, August 19, 2008 5:02 PM by Domenico Montanaro
Filed Under: 2008, Obama
From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli
As Delaware Sen. Joe Biden left his home a few minutes ago, golf clubs in tow, he was asked where he was going to be on Saturday.
Biden replied, "Here" and pointed down to his driveway.
As he pulled out of the driveway in the driver's seat of his car he then said to the press gathered near his gate, "You guys have better things to do. I'm not the guy."

Leah,
I just googled Obama VP ad and it popped up. It was the third selection. I specifically searched for other candidates, like, "obama picks Kaine," Dodd, Biden, and couldn't find anything. She was the only one I could find an article that claimed she WAS the selection.
vicki,
I know, out of curiosity... I even tried www.obamabinladen.com, and it came up with the same page.
LOL
Dave,
Obamakaine.com was bought on February of last year. Obamabinladen.com was bought in 2004.

apissedant -
But the article regarding the website talks about WHO purchased/registered the site. The site is not up yet, it is being hidden.
The 'GoDaddy' IS NOT the major part of the clue. You have to look at the article and compare the 'Name server'
http://www.tribbleagency.com/?p=1747
---
I like many of the VP choices that the people here have made, with the exception of Richardson, Clark, and Reed. Other than those three, I would be very happy with any choice he made... from that list at least.

Well... phooey!
I am not sure the who bought is much of a clue.
If I am am intelligent campaign team (which describes most of the folks working for Obama), I pre-registered as many potential names as possible as soon as possible.
However, there would be some names that would have occurred to other folks before the campaign started. (For example, I am sure that Clintonobama.com and Obamaclinton.com would have been registered by mid-2006 by some squatter.)
While having control over the google search for the ticket would be nice, given how most google searches work now, it might be cheaper to just pay google to be on the top of the list.
The bottom line is that control of the best name for the website for the ticket would be a plus, it is just a small plus and I can't see it as being the determining factor in who gets picked.

ap,
nope.
Long day with more to go.
Reading this blog right now reminds me of kids shaking their presents under the x-mas tree.
jean
I noticed that too p'd ant. I'm not sure if the domain servers mean much since they are in sequence. It's an interesting thought though.
jean,
LOL,
Does anyone really think the Obama campaign could keep a lid on it until Saturday? I mean the suspense would be phenomenal, but wouldn't it be bad if too much VP speculation occurred... and several people actually did leak real information?

I think this is cute-
http://tinyurl.com/destresser
It's about campaign kits for McCain courtesy of the DNC.
iv dave-I relate to the post you made about being a radiator. Mike and I use a separate blanket in the summertime.
Dave,
You're in sisco... knock on that guy's door. You can find a picture of the apartment?/townhouse? on google maps.
jean - that is a GREAT analogy! Or unwrapping them and re-wrapping them before mom and dad find out they peeked before Christmas?
jean-
I always shook my presents under the tree and a couple times peeked and ruined the surprise!
But this is different - I really want to know right now! It is going to be a long week if Obama doesn't announce anything until Saturday or God forbid next week!
.
p'd ant, I'm in Diego, not even close to SF. Oh wait, I could call Cindy McCain again for a ride, huh? (It's about 1 1/2 hours by plane - and is the ONLY way to get around CA).
I think he should wait until Wednesday next week and surprise everyone at the convention. Just to get to media and the rest of us. LOL
peevish-I don't recognize him. Why do you ask?

obamareed is through nameserver.net

McCain aid basically calls Obama supporters a bunch of Dungeon and Dragon nerds... and disrespectful cowards.
Dave,
My fault, you're gay and live in California... what were the odds it wasn't San Fransisco? VBG
soft,
That guy owns obamabiden.com
apissedant-
Yesterday the McCain folks issued an apology to the Dungeon and Dragon folks.
---
Leah,
They apologized to the Dungeons and Dragon folks for insinuating they might support Obama?
LOL
I think the apology might be directed at the wrong victims.
I don't remember the wording of the apology but I read about it either on Time's THE PAGE or Politico last night before I went to bed.
peevish-Thanks for catching me up on that one. I wasn't paying attention to the present shaking.;) I usually like surprises. I really aggravate most people because I don't bother packages and don't ask for hints.
soft,
I have a long history of being out of presents to give long before December 25th. I hate waiting to give a gift even more than I hate waiting to receive one, and I'm in control of when I give it. :)
p'd ant - even SF is TOO gay for us!
DAVE,
HAHAHA
You actually made me laugh out loud. Congratulations!
I should clarify that a bit. We like to visit, but would NEVER live there (unless we decide that I'm going to Berkeley.)
LOL p'd ant. I'm glad you got a laugh.
Dave,
You should totally go to Berkley. I'll update my applications, and Eva, (name of child I'm not allowed to state), a pair of rooms from you guys. I figure you'll give us a nice Democratic discount. How does 150 a month sound?
Oh, and we're totally not paying utilities.
OK Kids,
It will be just as important and wonderful on Wed or Sat.
Leah you are killing me LOL.
Suzi, not a doubt in my mind.
Do you guard the tree at night from the kids?
Ap, The San Francisco thing, that is bad especially for you;)
Like I said long day and gotta finish.
I cannot believe I chose Biden and a few minutes later Leah posts he says I am not your guy.
My luck and no I do not gamble.
Be back in a while.
Have fun:)
jean
ROFL p'd ant! Things are expensive here in San Diego and at least double in the bay area. I can't imagine moving there simply due to the cost of living.
LOL jean - I hear ya, I don't gamble either. But I have the feeling Andrea Mitchell is right today. Meaning that she doesn't think the Obama campaign has even told the top contenders at this point (including his pick).
Dave,
And to think I thought you were a friend. Tsk Tsk.
"I cannot believe I chose Biden and a few minutes later Leah posts he says I am not your guy."
Andrea Mitchell debunked that comment on Hardball. Biden still might be the guy.
He said Tom Kaine.... grrrr... not cool Keith.
He beat me to the punch, I was thinking he should tell the choice by text message, just like the rest of us. :)
Obama's 2008 VP Pick Contest
Leah - Gov. Kathleen Sebelius
Vicki - Senator Biden (Gore)

Independent Voter - Senator Lincoln Chafee (Biden)

AJ - Senator Jack Reed
Beryl - Chuck Hagel (Biden/Sebelius/Clark/Kaine/Clinton/Richardson)
Karen Anne - Senator Evan Bayh (Gore/Lincoln Chafee)
tmess2 - Senator Evan Bayh (Gov. Salazar)
Oh Canada - Gov. Kathleen Sebelius
jean - Senator Biden (Reed)
Anyone one else have a guess?
Note:
1) No one knows anything yet except for Obama and Michelle.
2) Obama has not told any of the possible picks if they are the one or not.
3) Keith Olberman said on Countdown that the Obama camp said that the VP will be at the Springfield, Ill event Saturday.
4) The VP pick will be announced anytime between now and the event Saturday. The Obama supporters will be text messaged/emailed first before they release a formal announcement to the press.
LOL p'd ant. You think he should be notifying his running mate at the same time he announces it to the rest of us? That would be hilarious.
jean-How'd you guess? I actually got the kids to believe one year Santa had a piece of angel food cake. Shame on me!
Independent Voter -
Actually it is not as funny as you may think ... there is the possibility that Obama is going to tell the VP pick just a couple minutes before the text messages go out!
He is serious about letting NO ONE know until it is time.
p'd ant - you said earlier you wouldn't want Clark. Why not? I think he would be a great attack dog to go after McCain. It would not draw anyone out of the Senate (as would Biden or Bayh).
I would be ok with Clark.
Leah, since I would like to continue to be "outside the box and take Powell as my back-up instead of Biden. Everyone, including myself, have seemed to have forgotten about him.
Is everyone watching Countdown with Keith?
I can't believe they found that quote of McCain reading from his book in his own words about running for President because of AMBITION!
And that after McCain accused Obama of it!
I'll post a link to a clip as soon as someone puts it up on YouTube!!! This is going to be great!!! McCain is going to lose big time - he has lost his mind!
Leah, he had to have a mind before he could lose it.
By the way, WTF is up with Cindy's arm being in a sling? I know she "claims" that it was an over-excited "fan" who shook her hand too hard. Get a grip lady and tell the truth. McCain lied when he said that "he stopped beating his wife two weeks ago," didn't he?
LMAO!!!!!! KO is hilarious! I love the sarcasm talking about LIEberman being a prick.
Independent Voter-
wooohoooo.... you're good!
I didn't even think of that!
McWifeAbuser!
LOL Leah!
I thought Wesley Clark was great LAST year. Then he took part in the 3 am commercial. NO! I do not want anyone who has proven that they will use Republican scare tactics to win.
Richardson had a weird little stir up a few years back with the mother of a dead veteran at the boy's funeral. The story he initially said sounded suspect and made no sense to me. I did more research and found the mother's story, which sounded much more reasonable. I felt he was pandering and using a dead veteran for his political advantage, and I instantly decided I didn't like him.
Reed I know nothing about, but I don't want another R in the Senate.
Gore I think would be a mistake. He is still disliked by a large portion of Americans. Don't need that negative crap back again. Party of the future, not of the past.
beryl,
I thank you for your support;)
suzi,
I am with ya LOL.
I had my kids running around the house looking for the Easter Bunny till they were six(I kept saying he was just around the corner and they believed they saw him till this day), and they looked for the foot prints of the reindeer till 9yrs in the front yard because we always left food(rabbit pellits;) to feed them.
I'm trying to think of what to do you folk:0
Indy if Ap saw the prices in SF he would go into cardiac arrest.
jean
I'm really glad that Rachel is getting her own show, but now I'm a little perturbed that she will be taking Dan Abrams slot. I wonder if they are going to bump Dan Abrams up into Chris Matthews' time slot.
Indy,
Regarding Maddow's slot --
I'm thinking that they will either push back the prison inmate shows or reduce the number of times Countdown and/or Hardball is aired.s
Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama '08
I hear ya jean. For what we have here in San Diego (two bedroom house) which when we bought it in 2001 $250,000 - we thought it was expensive. It appraised in 2005 at $700K and now that the market has crashed only appraises at $500K. Still not bad, but could be better.
If we were to buy a similar home in the Bay Area, we would be paying a minimum $1 mill.
Indy, Leah got you he he he.
jean
I hope you're right beryl. I like Dan Abrams the most (yes, even more than KO). The only reason I like KO is because he is SO partisan, in favor of Obama (kind of like all the partisans at Faux News in favor of McDoucheBag.)
jean, I had it ready to go just in case.
Good job Leah.
My guess...
Chris Hardball
David Gregory
Chris Hardball
Keith Countdown
Rachel's new show
Dan Abhrams (to compete with Anderson Cooper's CNN slot)
In my opinion, they should get rid of the Hardball repeat and get rid of Gregory. Then instead of the prison shows they should repeat Chris/Keith/Rachel/Abrams after Abrams show.
