Phillies Won

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

Yes, the Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series last night.

The Vegas line declared them the winners when the original game was called on Tuesday. Yup, really.

The reason I bring this up is that people can bet on elections. Not legally in the US, but in Ireland. There is also InTrade. There is, therefore, a line.

And I'm asking because I really don't know, but I'm hopeful some of you will. Has anyone ever done a comparative analysis of the lines vs. the polls? Is one more accurate, in the final analysis, than the other? And just out of curiosity, do any of YOU have money on any of this year's races?

Thanks, just curious.

Just a note: while it's not generally enforced, I'm not sure it's legal under US law to put money on out elections in InTrade.

I actually dropped a healthy amount of money at sportsinteraction.com - they were taking the following bets - who will win, ob or mc, how many evs will obama win (200-250, 250-300, 300-350, 350+), and then you could bet on each individual state for who would win, and you could really make those bets have a decent payout if you parlay 10 bets at a time. among many bets on the states, i bet $100 on obama to win. that was right around the first debate. at that time it would pay $44 profit if he won. a few days later obama blew up in the polls, and his payout went down to like $5 or something...
