Polling Update - October 31st - 96 more hours

Rasmussen Tracking Poll: Obama 51, McCain 47 (Obama 51, McCain 46).
Hotline: Obama 48, McCain 41 (Obama 48, McCain 42).
Daily Kos: Obama 51, McCain 45 (Obama 50, McCain 45).
Gallup: Obama 52, McCain 43 (Obama 50, McCain 45).

Four poll average: Obama 50.5, McCain 44 (Obama 49.75, McCain 44.5).

Gallup's expanded model is at 52-43. It was at 51-44 yesterday.

Do you think the news of Obama's aunt that just broke will have a major impact on the election?

NO, I do not. the inner circle of Senator Obama's family is very small. There was Obama's mother (who has passed away), Obamam's grandfather, his mother's father (who has passed away), Obama's grandmother that lives in Hawaii. and Obama's half-sister that lives in Hawaii with her husband and child.
All of the Kenyan folks are not people that Obama grew up with or ones that he has any close connection with. Even the grandmother in Kenya is not a close relative to Obama because she is just one of the wives of Obama's dead grandfather and she is not blood related to Obama.
I don't think the Boston/Kenyan aunt is an issue at all.

I don't think the 'little' smears will make it on the TV at this point.
Watching CNN and MSNBC today they were focused more on the voting lines and the electoral college map, etc.
In my opinion any new smears are not going to have any effect - unless it is something 'big' as in a 'huge' scandal.
Whatever is on the news Saturday and Sunday will be old news by Monday when the 'majority' of folks watch TV - and Tuesday is election day ;)
Just my opinion.

She isn't exactly his aunt. Thanks to his Dad esp. his family tree is kind of like spaghetti. I think most people with siblings realize family life gets complicated, and one responsible person can't keep everyone in good shape, esp. since Obama apparently didn't know about his aunt. Even if he did know, I can't see him telling her she had to leave the country.

Will it hurt? I am not good at predicting. Maybe it will help, contrasting his background with what he has achieved.

I hope this will not result in her having to go back to Kenya, but I guess it might.

Oregon turnout is low so far in comparison to 2004 as of the last count published by our SOS.

HOWEVER it was reported that 50% of all registered Dems have cast their ballots but only 41% of all registered Repugnants have cast theirs. That bodes well for both Obama and Jeff Merkley and ill for McCain and Smith.
