Midnight political trivia question

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

Only 1 CD in the nation voted for John Kerry in 2004 and John McCain in 2008. Any guesses?

On a related note:

There are only five House Republicans left representing districts that John Kerry carried in 2004, down from the pre-election total of eight.

The five left are: Reps. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), who survived a tough campaign against Democrat Dan Seals; Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Wash.), who narrowly defeated Democrat Darcy Burner; Charlie Dent (R-Pa.); Jim Gerlach (R-Pa.) and Mike Castle (R-Del.). - Politico

I'll get the guessing started. Someone else would peg it right away, but I'll noted it has to be in AR, LA, TN, or KY. Maybe WV.

Going out on a limb: AR-1.

All of the Arkansas districts voted for Bush in 2004 according to Wikipedia (I know that it isn't a reliable source, but for sake of expediency get over it). My guess would be John Murtha's district (PA-12). This would be much easier if there were any 2008 election maps findable through Google dissecting the country into congressional districts!

If in Louisiana, I would think LA-3.

I am going to go out on a limb and say PA-12.

Cool! I love that we agree!

i think matt is pretty much telling us it is one of the 5 in the related story. i do agree that the pro vet, anti black tendency of pa voters is likely the cause of the unique flip, so without knowing which district is where, i would go with one of the two pa congressional districts lists in the related story, gerlach or dent, and if either of them rep philly, then the other...

Wendell got it correct - it is PA-12, Murtha's district!

And Murtha is just happy to still have a job.

I just tuned in so the guessing is over, but when I read the question I figured it would be an Arizona or Alaska district. Surprise surprise!

Where did you get CD presidential results from? I can only find county results, or House results by CD.

BTW, Murtha and Obama won easily here in his home town (Cambria County), but it seems the southwest corner of this ridiculously shaped district is more republican this year.

jay, i dont republican is exactly the right word...
