While most of us enjoy our turkey and fixin's tomorrow, lets not forget, as the Obama family reminded us today, that there are many going hungry this Thanksgiving.

From everyone here at DemConWatch, have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi Leah...did you know that cooking a turkey upside down actually spreads the juice from the dark meat into the white meat making it not so dry? I'm thankfull for what I have this year too...mostly leftovers after that my kids didn't eat last weekend. I wish my ex and family the best this holiday as always...I'm not such a bad guy, just a little hard to understand.

If you have any left over, make a chili with it. :) One year, we had enough left over for chili, salad, and sandwiches. Cool, eh? :)

Think about saving a life and going vegetarian next Thanksgiving, and maybe always. Uses 500 times less water for producing food for one human than eating omni.

Happy mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, vegetarian stuffing, creamed peas and onions, whole berry cranberry sauce, tofuveggieturkey, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie Day.

I've never had Turkey and I've never been there. Although I'd love to go. Cappadocia must be quite an experience.

But seriously, do you think the life of a vegetable less worthy just because it can't run or scream?

Myself, I'll eat anything as long as it isn't tofu. The only good thing about tofu is the woman that sells it in our town. She makes it in all kinds of different flavours (I still won't eat it) and above her smile she sports the sweetest hint of a moustache.

ahh, spare the bird, just give me a pig for bacon to go in my cornbread dressing, with chicken broth, onions, celery, sage and the tiniest amount of toasted and crumbled white bread. we do eat a turkey, but still love my dressing and pecan pies the best .

sorry, on Tday, healthy eating takes a holiday....

We like to mash our sweet potatoes and russet potatoes together. We stll make sweet potato casserole. I wonder if McCain/Palin could've spelled potato. :)

I don't see myself going completely meat free. Quasi omnivore is the closest I've been able to get.

We like our turkeys. We like our vegetables. If we don't grow them, they will all go extinct. If we don't get rid of them, we'll have too many. I don't think we should eat humans, dogs, roaches, squirrels, snakes, cats (unless you're from a different culture) or maybe those are things that I would not eat. I try to be a vegetarian every other day. Life is great like that. I respect vegetarian. I just don't want to be one right now. I respect beef eaters. I just don't digest beef well. So I stay away. I love the Obamas, but I don't eat them. I love Democrats and I thank God for them this year. When I'm hungry though, I eat like a cow. Happy Thanksgiving!

Not quite :-) Plenty of wild turkeys where I live, they don't need to be bred on factory farms to survive. And they're not overpopulating. Strange I never hear people worried about animal overpopulation advocating eating or shooting humans.

Thanks for being a veggie every other day, though. That's a huge help to the environment, worth half of driving an electric car vs. a conventional car.

"A 2006 United Nations report found that the meat industry produces more greenhouse gases than all the SUVs, cars, trucks, planes, and ships in the world combined."
http://www.goveg.com/environment-globalWarming.as...

If you want to get depressed about the environment, even more than usual, see the NYTimes:
http://dotearth.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/26/the-...
"western (world) stock of tuna is collapsing and eastern stock is in rapid decline."

Now I'm off my digression for the day, Thanksgiving and all those turkey pictures just get to me more than usual.
