Inauguration Plans

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

While the participants won't be confirmed until Tuesday night, here's a basic inauguration chronology:

The vice president will be sworn in at some point after 11:30 a.m., and the presidential oath of office will be taken just before noon, after which the new commander in chief will deliver his inaugural address.

Afterward, the president and vice president will attend the traditional congressional lunch at the Capitol, and then proceed down its East Front for a ceremonial review of troops and to board the motorcade for the parade down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.

Once the parade begins, the event transfers out of the jurisdiction of Congress and into the organizational hands of the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee, which organizes the procession.

“We could do a one-hour parade or a six-hour parade. It depends on what he wants,” explained Air Force Maj. Maureen Schumann, a spokeswoman for the armed forces committee.- Politico
