The Presidential Models

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

On January 20th, Barack Obama will assume the office of President of these United States. It just plain feels GREAT to type that.

There is a lot of discussion about whether President Obama will function from the center or from the left. To a lot of people, that's an interesting discussion, but from my perspective, the real question is a little different because of the economic situation. I personally have been very lucky, I do not know what it means to be hungry. But I know far too many people who (now or in the past) miss meals so their children can eat, don't know from where, when, or if, their next meal will occur, who weigh a trip to the grocery store against necessary medication, rent, or enough gas to get to that job interview.

It harkens back to 1932, when FDR came into office and undertook a set of broad, definitive and bold actions. People were hungry. Nothing is left, right or center if the population is hungry.

From that perspective, it may be President Obama's intention to make so many changes so quickly that some people's heads spin. From the amount of preparation that has so far gone into the planning for the campaign, the transition, even the Executive Orders to be immediately rescinded, it's obvious that the Obama-Biden team is ready to hit the ground running.

Some people take another view, that the Obama-Biden team will follow the lead of the Clinton administration and take smaller steps toward action. (The Hillary Health Care Debacle being an attempt at bold action that changed the course of how that administration approached things.)

Which model do you think he will follow? Please use the comments to describe which model you think should be followed, and if you'd like, order your priorities.
