Today, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), which works to turn environmental values into national priorities, announced it will be co-sponsoring the Concert for a Cooler Planet presented by Frontier Hosts. The concert is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26 in Denver, Colorado. Model and actress Amber Valletta will host the concert, a premier event during the Democratic National Convention, featuring a special acoustic performance by Ben Gibbard and Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie and a performance by singer-songwriter Graham Colton. The concert will be held at the Sherman Center, 1770 Sherman St., at 9:30pm.

“This concert will be the second hottest ticket in Denver,” Navin Nayak, LCV Director of Global Warming said, making an allowance for Senator Obama’s acceptance speech. “Some of today’s best and most original musical performers have joined us to fight for a clean energy future that will create millions of jobs, protect our planet, and end our addiction to foreign oil.”

Death Cab for Cutie’s most recent album, Narrow Stairs, reached #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and they will be featured on the upcoming cover of Rolling Stone magazine.

“We knew we really wanted to be a part of this event,” Chris Walla said. “It’s going to great to not only be in Denver during such an historic week, but to also help focus the world’s attention on the promise of clean energy.”

Graham Colton is a singer-songwriter from Oklahoma City, OK most widely known for his hit song, "Best Days", featured on Fox's 'American Idol'. He has toured with John Mayer, Counting Crows, Maroon 5, Dave Matthews Band, and Kelly Clarkson, and appeared on NBC's 'Tonight Show with Jay Leno', CBS's 'Late Show with David Letterman', NBC's Today Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and ABC's Live with Regis and Kelly.

Amber Valletta is a model and actress known for appearing in magazine ads for Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, and Versace, as well as hosting MTV’s House of Style. She has appeared in several movies including What Lies Beneath, The Family Man, Raising Helen, and Premonition.
