Tim Russert Dead at 58

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

“I’ve known Tim Russert since I first spoke at the convention in 2004. He’s somebody who, over time, I came to consider not only a journalist but a friend. There wasn’t a better interviewer in TV, not a more thoughtful analyst of our politics, and he was also one of the finest men I knew. Somebody who cared about America, cared about the issues, cared about family. I am grief-stricken with the loss and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. And I hope that, even though Tim is irreplaceable, that the standard that he set in his professional life and his family life are standards that we all carry with us in our own lives,” - Barack Obama.

How very sad. My wife would always mock me for waking up early on Sundays to watch Tim. I always made sure to catch his analysis on election nights and on the Today show on many a post-election morning. Tim was a pillar of journalism and we will all miss him greatly.

On the MSNBC show "Tucker", Russert predicted the battleground states of the 2008 presidential election would be New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada, saying, "If Democrats can win three of those four, they can lose Ohio and Florida, and win the presidency." --- (It is a very sad day today and even sadder knowing that Tim will not be here to enjoy one of the most historic political races in history. Our thoughts and prays are with his family and friends.)
