Iowa Democrats postpone state convention

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

The State Democratic convention, which had been set for Saturday in downtown Des Moines, has been postponed as the state struggles to deal with widespread flooding.

Iowa Democratic Party spokeswoman Brooke Borkenhagen said they were trying to find a new date and venue for the event. - Quad City Times
For those still keeping track, the resolution of John Edwards' projected 3 statewide delegates, as well as the naming of Iowa's add-on superdelegate, will understandably have to wait.

The Republicans have postponed their convention also.

Our thoughts are with the people of Iowa during these tough times.

Update: The Iowa Democratic Party has rescheduled its convention to June 28.

I'd like to know what the protest is about. I thought the convention was to chose the candidate but it seems thats already done. Even though the chosen one is a big mistake. Why bother with the convention Since it appears obama is it. Looks like 4 more years of bush.

Maybe God is sending a message , they picked the wrong donkey. With all the crazy weather I'd have to say that is true.

BTW, the above picture is of the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids, where I live. In the background is Quaker Oats - largest cereal plant (island?) in the world. Downtown is off picture to the left, also completely flooded up to ten blocks from the river. No word yet on library which is two blocks from river and water is now lapping at Museum of Art. Yes, I'm also a delegate to the state convention.

Rose, no celestial message, more down to earth - all that water from glaciers and polar caps have to go somewhere

Protest March is for many other issues. Convention is just not for selecting candidate . It's also for setting what policies and message Democratic party is standing for. So, for example, there may be pro-life marchers or fair tax supporters
