DNCC Postpones Media Walkthrough

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

From CQ Politics...

Just 73 days before the Democratic National Convention in Denver, and six days before media outlets were scheduled to travel to the Mile High City, the Democratic National Convention Committee postponed a scheduled media walk-through.

“We regret to announce that we have decided to postpone the Spring Media Walkthrough,” the DNCC said in a statement. “We want to be sure that when we host you and other media for this event, we’re prepared with the information you expect us to have so that it is an efficient and productive use of your time.”

The walk-through was the chance for members of the media to get briefed on important logistical details, including information about credentialing, security procedures, housing and radio frequency coordination, a critical part of convention planning.

The Denver Post reported that money issues were behind the postponement. The Denver Host Committee, which is separate from the DNCC and undertakes all the fundraising to pay for the convention, has struggled to meet internal fundraising deadlines it set with the national party. The latest deadline is on Monday when the committee is supposed to have raised $40.6 million.

And we were all ready to go!
