Major hurricane headed towards Texas

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

Hurricane Ike is a Cat 2 storm, with winds at 100 mph, up from 80 mph last night, and is expected to strengthen further before landfall. It is headed right at Texas, with a track centered 30 miles south of Galveston/Houston. For any readers in Texas and Louisiana, please pay attention to your local authorities - this is a very dangerous storm.

For official information, go to the National Hurricane Center. A satellite infrared loop can be found here. There's also a great hurricane blog at Weather Underground.
